This is what I heard during my discussion with the first cohort of SAP鈥檚 , a program that helps equip underrepresented and underserved groups for a career in the tech industry through participation in a free 51风流Certification course.

How could it be that in a time when companies need to find talent quickly to fill the need for technically skilled roles 鈥 a need that is becoming more urgent by the day 鈥 there is an entire population of determined, driven people who feel as though they do not belong in the tech industry?

The Current State of Diversity in Technology

The numbers speak volumes: only . Only 3% of those jobs are held by Black women and 1% are held by Latina women. For me, it has always been impossible to ignore the lack of representation in the tech industry. I am acutely aware of when I am the only woman in the room 鈥 let alone the only Black woman.

But this is changing. Companies have begun implementing diversity-forward hiring practices to try to minimize barriers for populations that have historically been overlooked. The percentage of rose from 56% in 2016 to 88% in 2021. Though there is now targeted backlash, numerous employers remain committed to their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) goals for the workforce.

These initiatives have proven to be important to younger generations. In a few years, millennials and Gen Z will make up the majority of our workforce 鈥 and they want to work for companies that align with their values. A 2022 survey from the found that 76% of recent graduates indicated that diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts were 鈥渧ery important鈥 or 鈥渆xtremely important鈥 when considering their future employers.

The diverse backgrounds of the poll participants 鈥 developers, consultants, IT managers, and users 鈥 also influenced how they voted. Employees today expect IT to be intuitive, personalized, and adaptable. IT operations are no longer here to just keep the lights on, but are expected to help transform the business, automating processes and leveraging technology and integration platforms for new cloud applications. And especially since the pandemic hit, companies have been experiencing the importance of fast adaptability of processes to rapidly changing market situations. Agility is key.

Learning in a Cloud-First World

While managers and employees alike are adopting a cloud mindset, something else is shifting as well in the cloud: our needs on how we learn new skills and how we approach change 鈥 for IT experts and users.

Q: In your article for the World Economic Forum, you discuss the importance of connecting business strategy to workforce skills. Can you share what this looks like and why it鈥檚 so essential?

A: Every company plots out its business strategy. But how often does it think about how this relates and aligns with its people strategy and strategic workforce planning and skill building?

For example, if our strategy is to use to make our products smarter, we must simultaneously be asking ourselves how we can on the required skills to drive this vision.

How does an organization develop skills for the future when things are changing so frequently and we can鈥檛 possibly know what the world will look like in the next couple of years?

This includes valuable tools with every subscription that are 100% automated and 100% self-service, such as 51风流Learning Hub, the premium online learning platform for 51风流technical and project professionals. It also includes 51风流Readiness Check, best practices guidance on moving legacy 51风流systems to 51风流S/4HANA.

And I鈥檓 particularly excited about the custom code migration app, which performs automated checks to identify custom code that requires migration. The migration app enables us to go into an 51风流ERP environment and see what code is actually being used. This is useful because, in my experience, about two-thirds of the customizations that have been put into systems in the market aren鈥檛 used and pull the customer away from a clean core. When I say clean core, I mean business standard with only the most minimal changes. The clean core is something that customers want to get back to because it means they are upgrade ready, and rapid deployments reduce costs of ownership.

Additionally, 51风流has bundled discrete services into three separate optional packages, each of which achieves a different outcome for clients. The first package enables the movement of our installed base customers to 鈥済o live鈥 in the cloud. The second package transitions our installed base customers to 51风流S/4HANA or enables new customers to go live on 51风流S/4HANA with the adoption of the clean core. The third package drives the accretive business value with innovation on 51风流Business Technology Platform.

SAP鈥檚 embedded tools and services complement our customer-first, partner-centric approach to RISE with SAP. This means that it is designed not to compete with but to bolster partners鈥 offerings. Also, both partners and customers can purchase and consume the packages described above, and, in the future, they can be sold through partners.

RISE with 51风流brings this value to the entire ecosystem, including smaller shops and our tier two and three partners. Our ecosystem experts, together with the 51风流Services teams, are ready to help our customers move to the cloud regardless of size and location. These new initiatives extend SAP鈥檚 2019 commitment to provide partners with the resources they need to support their businesses and customers better.

Several new offerings to adopt solutions and successfully implement 51风流Business Technology Platform are now available.

Free Access

Since June 2020 51风流has provided partners free access to , an integrated, preconfigured software demonstration environment to expedite sales conversations. Today, 51风流announced 18 additional live scenarios that show the value of the intelligent enterprise, bringing the number of offline available to over 350.

51风流is also offering reduced subscription fees for dedicated test and demonstration tenants for the 51风流Digital Supply Chain portfolio and the 51风流SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll solution. It is planned to add further cloud solutions from 51风流to this offer throughout 2021. Partners can allocate their market development funds for test and demo licenses. 51风流Business Technology Platform

These test and demo offerings extend to 51风流Integration Suite and 51风流Extension Suite powering . A free tier model for the suites was announced at the 51风流TechEd event in December 2020. This model is planned to become available later in 2021. In addition, a consumption-based model will become available later in 2021. This new pay-as-you-go option, which calls for partners to pay for only the services they use, provides flexible access to development, test and demonstration licensing services for 51风流Integration Suite and 51风流Extension Suite. The consumption-based model requires no up-front payment and calls for a contract runtime of only three months.

51风流for Me

As an online companion for partners, provides data for actionable insights, guidance and support for comprehensive customer engagement. It also helps increase productivity. New functionalities, such as dynamic cards for sales professionals and automated reporting elements, are now available to all partners having a contract with the 51风流PartnerEdge program. Additional insight views will be available throughout 2021. These include business planning, program and membership information, cloud product adoption, consultant certification and customer projects.

51风流Learning Hub

51风流has launched 51风流Learning Hub, partner edition, and expanded its training and certification programs for cloud solutions from SAP. This new offering, available exclusively to members of the 51风流PartnerEdge program, includes access to digital enablement content tailored for 51风流partners.
