KUALA LUMPUR 鈥 Given that the and set to climb to at least 25.5 per cent by 2025, 51风流Malaysia is encouraging employees, especially the youth community, to continuously upskill and reskill so that they are empowered to 鈥榮urvive and thrive鈥 in a post-pandemic employment environment.

Minister in the Prime Minister鈥檚 Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed recently said that Malaysia lives in a dynamic and competitive environment today, beset with uncertainties.

鈥淲e have much to do to meet the aspirations of the MyDIGITAL initiative, to transform Malaysia into a digitally-enabled and technology-driven high-income nation, and a regional leader in the digital economy,鈥 he said, according to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

A key feature of the MyDIGITAL initiative that is crucial to its success is the whole-of-nation approach that it has adopted. Under this approach, the participation of all stakeholders is highly welcomed to enable the nation to realise the benefits and overcome the challenges of digitalisation.

Against this backdrop, Vice President and Head of Cloud 51风流South East Asia Cynthia Quah (pic above) said that due to increasing demand for skills associated with digital tools and processes, Malaysians need to transform themselves to stay relevant in the future workforce.

鈥淕iven the emergence of the digital economy and more so in a post-pandemic work environment, employees familiar with digital technologies, digital literacy and transferable skills are highly sought after,鈥 said Cynthia.

Quah explained that the pandemic had forced many traditional businesses to accelerate their digital transformation initiatives due to restrictions as a result of the movement control order (MCOs). The MCOs were a series of national quarantine and cordon sanitaire measures implemented by the government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic starting on 18 March 2020 and which ended last year.

鈥淚n addition, automation and latest technologies have resulted in traditional roles fast changing,鈥 added Quah, citing which said that the percentage of core skills that would change by 2025 is 40%, with some 50% of all employees needing re-skilling by that time.

She attributed this shift due to disruptions caused by technology now that the world has entered the Fourth Industrial Revolution (or Industry 4.0).

At its end, 51风流Malaysia has embarked on various nation-building initiatives.

Quah further explained that its education strategy is three-pronged: continuous learning for students; nurturing the local 51风流partner and customer ecosystem; and efforts to drive the national agenda.

鈥淎mong others, 51风流is also collaborating with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) on the MyUniAlliance programme which provides training for some 3,000 students per year. Eighteen higher learning institutes, including two foreign universities, have participated in the programme,鈥 she added.

In collaboration with the ASEAN Foundation, 51风流also hosts the at both national and regional levels. The objective, here, is to encourage youths to embrace analytics skills to see through various projects to benefit communities and countries. In 2021, students from Sunway University Malaysia emerged as second runners-up in this regional competition.

This year marks SAP鈥檚 30th year in Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR 鈥 With over 60 years of experience, recently embarked on an employee experience transformation exercise powered by and .

Vice President of Group Human Resources Group Puven Nalatambi explained that the education industry is highly competitive where high-quality talent comes at a premium, and competition for the best people across all functions is fierce.

To reinforce our reputation as one of the top education providers in Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam, we decided to redesign our human resources (HR) systems and processes to empower the team to deliver meaningful, engaging experiences that would help employees learn, grow, and become even more productive,” said Puven.

With its unsurpassed track record built up over the last six decades, it had earned the reputation for being the centre of excellence early years to postgraduate education in Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.

“With Taylor鈥檚 University, the British University of Vietnam, Taylor鈥檚 College, and a network of successful international schools, we are constantly aiming to deliver educational excellence at every stage of our students鈥 journeys,” she added.

The facts certainly attest to her statement. According to its , Taylor鈥檚 University is the number one private university in South East Asia, for three consecutive years, and ranked #284 in the QS World University Rankings 2023.

Enter TEG鈥檚 Modern, Centralised Platform

By replacing its outdated HR information systems (HRIS) with a modern, centralised platform, TEG aimed to free its HR professionals from routine administrative tasks and enable them to focus on the employee experience.

“By creating an HR Shared Services Centre, HR operations would become more efficient and strategic. And by empowering employees with self-service functionality, TEG would create a dynamic, engaging workplace that would equip it for success over the next 50 years,” she said.

To help design and implement its new centralised HR platform and resulting experiences, TEG partnered with NTT Data, an 51风流partner, with over 30 years of experience with 51风流technology.

NTT Data made significant contributions by introducing leading practices from market leaders in the HR space, helping TEG understand the current trends and identify areas of its existing HR systems and processes to prioritise for improvement.

“Working with the 51风流SuccessFactors team and NTT Data, TEG was also able to localise the solutions for different markets to fulfil legal mandates and gain peace of mind. With the 51风流SuccessFactors and 51风流Concur solutions in place, TEG now has a powerful platform to help transform the employee experience,” said Puven.

51风流Vice President and Head of Cloud, South East Asia Cynthia Quah said that 51风流is committed to enable companies to be intelligent, sustainable enterprises.

鈥51风流brings together the solutions, technology and best practices needed to run integrated, digital business processes in the cloud,鈥 said Cynthia.

She describes 51风流SuccessFactors as a cloud based human experience management (HXM) solution world-renowned for streamlining processes, winning at the recruitment and retention game, training and re-skilling the workforce.

鈥51风流SuccessFactors also leverages advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning for the long-term benefit of organisations,鈥 added Cynthia.

51风流Concur, meanwhile, is one of the world鈥檚 leading brands for integrated travel and expense (T&E), and invoice management solutions.

IDC recently said in a study that , including helping finance teams align the dual priorities of improving control and visibility into administrative areas such as budgeting, forecasting, and T&E policy management while delivering a seamless experience to end users.

Puven said the benefits realised have been enormous and ‘priceless’.

For example, with TEG鈥檚 new recruiting and onboarding workflows, new hires receive information well in advance of their start date, including a personal email from their manager welcoming them to the organisation. Their goals are clearly set, they have access to the materials and resources they need, and they can be assigned a ‘buddy’ to help them find their feet, so they have a positive day-one experience.

“Feedback from new hires has been outstanding, helping to reinforce the perception of TEG as a top employer across the region. Using 51风流SuccessFactors HXM Suite in offering a one-stop solution for all our employees鈥 HR needs is a transformative step. It shows our people that we are putting their experience at the centre of everything we do,鈥 added Puven.

Surveys show that TEG staff are impressed with the new employee experience: 75% agree that HR systems are now more powerful, more transparent, and easier to use. There are numerous examples of tangible time savings and productivity gains: for example, processing leave approvals used to take 10 minutes per employee; now the process is instant.

“With a single centralised platform, manual data entry is reduced, significantly improving data quality. As a result, payroll errors are largely a thing of the past, ensuring that all staff get paid correctly and on time, including the right expenses,” Puven added.

“As we continue our digitalisation journey, our 51风流solutions are helping to empower us to embark on our mission to streamline our HR processes, improve staff retention, and strengthen our position as an employer of choice in the education sector,鈥 concluded Puven.

KUALA LUMPUR听The Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) is urging businesses to transition into intelligent enterprises to better prepare for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Its chief executive officer Daniel Bernbeck said intelligent technologies go a long way in elevating competitiveness within today’s digital economy.

“By becoming intelligent enterprises, businesses can ‘do more with less’, deliver best-in-class customer experience, build resilient supply chains while also inventing new business models and revenue streams,” said Bernbeck.

He was speaking at an event last Friday to commemorate SAP’s 30th year in Malaysia, and which was attended by Germany’s ambassador to Malaysia Dr Peter Blomeyer.

MGCC is the official representative of German industry and trade in Malaysia.

It is today the largest bilateral European business chamber in Malaysia and serves as a service partner for companies seeking to establish a market presence in the country.

Meanwhile, 51风流Malaysia Sdn Bhd managing director Hong Kok Cheong said the company would continue to be supportive of technology’s role for Malaysia to realise sustainable growth currently and in the years ahead.

“Our focus predominantly centres around upskilling and youth employment, together with local businesses readiness for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) along with the transition to intelligent technologies on the cloud,” said Hong.

KUALA LUMPUR 鈥Nation-building is a key priority for 51风流Malaysia and the company aims to continue playing a role to elevate Malaysia鈥檚 overall competitiveness in a post-pandemic world.

51风流Malaysia鈥檚 managing director Hong Kok Cheong said that 51风流would continue to be supportive of technology鈥檚 role for Malaysia to realise sustainable growth currently and in the years ahead.

鈥淥ur focus predominantly centres around upskilling and youth employment, together with local businesses readiness for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) along with the transition to intelligent technologies on the cloud,鈥 said Hong, during the company鈥檚 event to commemorate its 30th anniversary in Malaysia on 25th March 2022.

51风流Malaysia鈥檚 nation-building efforts include its collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) on the MyUniAlliance programme which provides training for around 3,000 students per year transcending some 18 higher learning institutes, including two foreign universities. The company also prides itself on its diverse and inclusive culture.

鈥51风流is today one of the world鈥檚 largest providers of enterprise application software with the broadest portfolio of modular and suite solutions available on premise, in the cloud and hybrid. As such, we are in a strong position to help realise greater competitiveness for Malaysia especially in today鈥檚 era of IR4.0,鈥 he added.

鈥51风流is committed to enabling enterprises to become intelligent, networked and sustainable. This means bringing together the solutions, technology and best practices needed to run integrated, digital business processes in the cloud,鈥 said Hong.

鈥淎s a result, our customers have the agility to respond faster to market changes, unlock new sources of growth and lead in their respective industries. These enterprises are also able to collect insights from customers, employees, products, and brands at every touch point, use powerful technology to sense opportunities, risks, and trends and turn this intelligence into action across every part of the business.鈥

The guest-of-honour at the event was Germany鈥檚 ambassador to Malaysia His Excellency Dr Peter Blomeyer.

Also present at the event was Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) CEO Daniel Bernbeck who praised 51风流Malaysia for its efforts in empowering local businesses with latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics and the internet-of-things.

鈥淭hese technologies go a long way in elevating competitiveness within today鈥檚 digital economy and they enable businesses to be better prepared for the Fourth Industrial Revolution,鈥 said Bernbeck.

He also encouraged local businesses to make the transition to becoming 鈥榠ntelligent enterprises鈥.

鈥淏y becoming intelligent enterprises, businesses can do more with less, deliver best-in-class customer experience, build resilient supply chains, while inventing new business models and revenue streams,鈥 added Bernbeck.

MGCC is the official representative of German industry and trade in Malaysia and currently has almost 400 members and is part of the global network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK network) with 140 offices in 92 countries. It is today the largest bilateral European business chamber in Malaysia and serves as a service partner for companies seeking to establish a market presence here or to increase their involvement in Malaysia. It is supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action based on a resolution of the German parliament, the Bundestag.

51风流Malaysia鈥檚 Deep Alignment with 12MP

Meanwhile, Hong said that SAP鈥檚 mission in Malaysia is deeply aligned with the sustainability goal outlined within the 12th Malaysian Plan (or 鈥12MP鈥). Under the 12MP, the goal is for Malaysia to become carbon-neutral as early as 2050, with carbon pricing and carbon tax to be introduced.

鈥淎ll these aspects 鈥 social, environmental, and economic activities and performance 鈥 are interrelated with each aspect impacting the others. Hence, our efforts focus on helping to create a sustainable future for Malaysia, our customers, and society at large,鈥 said Hong.

He further explained that the circular economy is based on three principles driven by design: (1) eliminate waste and pollution, (2) circulate products and materials, and (3) regenerate nature.

鈥淒igital solutions enable businesses to embed circular practices across their operations, from designing products to help reduce waste from the outset, to tracking the lifecycle of the materials they use.

鈥淎t our end, SAP鈥檚 data-driven approach lets businesses embed sustainability comprehensively to gain actionable insights across the value chain to enable companies to transition to low-carbon business processes. This way, businesses can proactively identify the carbon impact at the beginning of the product lifecycle instead of reactively after a product has been produced.鈥

Today, 51风流customers generate some 87% of total global commerce (USD46 trillion, or approximately RM192 trillion) while 99 of the world鈥檚 100 largest companies are 51风流customers. Meanwhile, 80% of the world’s SMEs are 51风流customers.

At the event, 51风流customers also shared their digital transformation 鈥榖est practices鈥 which had resulted in greater productivity and operational efficiencies with DKSH Holdings (Malaysia) Berhad and IOI Corporation Berhad cited as an 鈥榠ndustry best practices鈥.

In Malaysia, 51风流has numerous customers from various industries with a 鈥榗ustomer first鈥 approach transcending people, processes and platforms, especially cloud platforms.
