Imagine a single, progressive platform that brings together the brightest minds across industries and backgrounds to discuss the infinite possibilities of tomorrow. This idea was brought to life with the inception of .

Commenting on the initiative, Subramanian Ananthapadmanabhan, SVP, MidMarket, 51风流APJ worded it best: 鈥淭he systems of innovation, the people that matter, they鈥檙e not situated in just one organization. How can we get all of them together in a single room under the umbrella of an industry council to discuss, debate, analyze and come up with solutions for the problems we can鈥檛 see today, problems that could come a few years later? If we can have those answers, we can be ready to take on the future. That was the genesis of the 51风流Industry Knowledge Exchange.”

When the most innovative minds across industries come together to discuss a brighter tomorrow, nothing is truly impossible. Understanding the need for such eye-opening conversations between our leaders, 51风流Industry Knowledge Exchange (IKEX) serves as a powerful, collaborative platform that enables the exchange of knowledge and futuristic ideas.

The recent 51风流IKEX Summit saw leaders and innovators from digital natives and unicorns, manufacturing, CPG and life sciences congregate to share, learn and grow. Much of these discussions were centered around India鈥檚 鈥楢mrit Kaal鈥 and the collective efforts we can make to shape the India of tomorrow. Topics such as accelerated digitization across industries, the need for sustainable approaches, managing supply chain disruptions and adopting customer-centricity were highlights of the summit.

51风流believes its and wide industry expertise can provide the foundational technology platform for start-ups to enable a faster growth trajectory.

Fifty-year-old global technology company is helping start-ups, considered the next growth engine for the Indian economy, reach the next level. Given that all start-ups are cloud-native, 51风流believes its experience, technology depth, and reach in this area can help these new-age companies reach greater heights. 51风流has more than 230 million cloud users across the world with over 100 solutions covering all business functions.

In an interaction with YourStory, Sanket Deodhar, VP – Unicorns & Digital Natives, 51风流India, says, 鈥51风流plays a key role in providing them (start-ups) with a solid foundation on the cloud platform and enables their products to become enterprise-grade level.鈥 Being enterprise-grade level shows that the start-up鈥檚 product or service ticks all checkboxes鈥攕uch as security, customer experience, or handling workload without any disruptions.

Sanket Deodhar, VP - Unicorns & Digital Natives, 51风流India

According to Sanket, start-ups do not reach out to 51风流to seek disruptive technology but desire a strong foundation to get a 360 degree of how their organisations are functioning. 鈥淭here is data coming from all sides for a growth-driven start-up and 51风流can provide that single source of truth,鈥 remarks Sanket.

This could mean how start-ups can monitor their supply chain functions, reach out to customers, understand finances, and employee engagement, and importantly, be compliant with the regulatory requirements. 鈥淪tart-ups rely on us to provide that simplicity and remove complexities which can fuel their growth aspirations as well as innovation cycle,鈥 Sanket says.

51风流already runs global accelerator programmes, such as SAP.IO Foundries, to connect with the start-up ecosystem. Around 400 tech start-ups have so far taken part in the programme. Sanket says the key focus of its engagement is to see how innovative solutions built by these start-ups help the customers of SAP. 鈥淲e pitch this story to our customers and tell them how the solutions of the start-ups will add more value to them,鈥 he adds.

As for sectors, 51风流works with start-ups across edtech, healthtech, fintech and more. Start-ups such as Credable, Talview, Koinearth, and Worxogo have been a part of the technology company’s accelerator programme. According to Sanket, each of these segments have different requirements.

A fintech start-up, for example, will have to adhere to the regulatory norms while an edtech start-up will have to capture the experience of teachers and students and healthtech start-ups have the need to reach out to locations outside of metros.

Sanket says the expertise of 51风流in all these sectors enables them to provide smoother experiences for start-ups.

In this journey, Sanket also sees new requirements coming from the start-ups as they expand their reach from the metro locations and go deeper into Bharat. He says the requirements of Bharat users will be different and start-ups would require the guidance of 51风流in addressing the needs of this market. As part of its future for its engagement with start-ups, Sanket says it is working with the government to understand new policies and their implications on the start-up ecosystem. An example here would be the new regulations proposed around personal data.

51风流India and TV9 Network joined hands to recognize a total of 57 companies and individuals on the national platform.

The Dare to Dream Awards 2022 culminated in a star-studded event at the Taj Lands End, Mumbai on November 16th. With key policymakers, thought leaders from the industry and media, experts, and other inspiring voices gracing the occasion, it was as much a forum for insights-sharing as celebrating the winners.

The inaugural session featured Rahul Singh (VP and Head of Marketing, 51风流India Subcontinent) and Nitika Das (Sr. Director, Brand, Midmarket and Business Marketing, 51风流India) who spoke about the evolution of the awards and the theme for this year is focused on new India鈥檚 pioneers. They were joined on the dais by Rajeev Singh (Vice President, Midmarket and Emerging Business, 51风流Indian Subcontinent) and Raktim Das (Chief Growth Officer, TV9 Network).

The guest of honour, Shri. Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma (Minister of State in the Ministry of MSMEs, Govt. of India) delivered the opening address, setting the stage for the event. He spoke about the impact that MSMEs have had in every field, from helping the country overcome the pandemic to creating India鈥檚 bright economic prospects. He expressed his confidence in the MSME sector fulfilling the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and Govt. initiatives like Make in India. He also recognized the importance of these awards in inspiring business leaders to create a digital-first culture, adopt innovative ideas, and fulfill the dreams of a new India. To quote his words, “Everyone in India is aware of the contribution of the MSME sector (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) to the growth of the country. The making of INS Vikrant is a great example of how vital the contributions of the MSME sector are.”

With four engaging panel discussions covering crucial topics of digital transformation, raising capital, dynamic enterprise, and compassionate capitalism, there were many key takeaways for the attendees. Rajeev Singh spoke at length about how SMEs can play a significant role in fuelling the country鈥檚 growth aspirations in the exclusive panel discussion on 鈥楧igital Transformation Powering India’s March to 2047鈥. Talking about translating the promoters鈥 vision into reality by exploring 3 broad themes, he said, 鈥 The moment MSMEs start to see digital transformation as an investment eating into their profits, that’s when they’re going wrong. The only way you can operate in the same space (as the larger players) or go global, in the shortest possible time is with digital transformation. The larger organisations had the financial muscle power to build distribution systems, go abroad and hire the best talent. Today, with digital transformation, MSMEs can be on the same pedestal and compete with the largest companies.”

Sandeep Chandna (Chief Sustainability Officer, Tech Mahindra) spoke about bringing profit and the planet together, and how 51风流and Tech Mahindra are collaborating to build technologies that can enable sustainable development. He said, “In these last 15 years, we have documented, and we have learned in our own way the best ESG practices. We have now started going back to our customers, saying that this is our learning, and these are the things we can help you implement in your ESG journey.”

Subramanian Ananthapadmanabhan (SVP – Midmarket, 51风流APJ) shared his perspective on the digital-first mindset driving growth among SMEs. He gave an interesting timeline of how 51风流has been engaging with SMEs for value creation through 5 key programs over the past 5 years 鈥 Growth Matters Forum, Global Bharat Movement, Mentors of Global Bharat, Transformation Express, and finally the Dare to Dream Awards. Tying these initiatives together, he told the audience, 鈥淪ince the time Covid has happened, the market has been changing so rapidly, that we鈥檝e had to increase our efforts to come up with new campaigns, to be more relevant and ensure that we are there when it matters to you.鈥

An insightful conversation with Uday Samant (Minister of Industries, Govt. of Maharashtra) shed light on the latest Govt. initiatives to enable business such as the hydrogen and electric vehicle policy for instance, and how Maharashtra is becoming a role model for other states when it comes to industrial growth. In the Minister鈥檚 words, 鈥淲e have one focus, that we get more industries to invest in Maharashtra, be it IT sector industries or automobile industries. We understand that industries want states to give them a red-carpet welcome. We’re now giving surety to industries and companies to give them more benefits than other states, be it concessions in water, land, electricity, or other incentives.”

The ceremony also featured a special session by Devendra Jhajharia, Paralympics Champion, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, and Arjuna Award for Athletics, who motivated the dignitaries with his truly inspiring journey. From how he was mocked while first trying to throw the javelin to following his dream with conviction and courage, reaching the greatest heights as an athlete 鈥 the first Indian para-athlete to win two gold medals at Paralympics. In his words, 鈥淚 always make an effort to win more and more medals for my county to bring it more honour and respect worldwide. That is all I ever try to do.”

As India continues to rise and establish its leadership on the global stage, the business community has been a key driver of this growth and transformation. The Dare to Dream Awards 2022 celebrates business champions and trailblazing organizations that are driving innovation and setting new benchmarks for the industry.

Coming to the awards, across three main categories 鈥 Organizational Awards, Dare to Dream Special Recognition and Individual Awards, 57 recognitions were decided by the eminent jury panel. Having received nominations from across India, these pioneering companies and leaders were announced as winners at the Grand Awards Ceremony.

The prestigious Company of the Year Awards recognize organizations from diverse industries that have demonstrated all-round success, be it in business performance, green initiatives, social impact, Make in India initiative, and others.

In the individual category, awards were conferred on the 鈥榊oung Leader of the Year鈥, 鈥榃oman Entrepreneur of the Year鈥, and 鈥楤usiness Leader of the Year鈥. These exceptional individuals at the helm have been responsible for steering their organizations to greater heights.

This year also saw the addition of the Dare to Dream Special Recognition where a set of companies were recognized for their outstanding achievements, embodying the spirit and theme of these awards.

The continually evolving business and customer needs call for a more agile, cost-efficient, scalable, and secure IT enterprise environment. Full control and transparency over information and real-time insights now drive the governance, monitoring, and proficiency of operations across the spectrum.

WayCool, India鈥檚 largest food and agritech platform, works as an interconnected supply chain driver that provides a singular, unified view from soil to the sale of agricultural produce. As a startup, WayCool initially used conventional legacy applications that were causing a disrupted information flow, thus adding bottlenecks to evolution and scale. A traditional ERP system meant little to no interconnectivity between different businesses of the company.

As the business evolved and became more complex, WayCool decided to migrate to 51风流4/HANA for seamless integration of all IT applications. Scalability, enhanced margins, better inventory management, and automated controls accrued as some of the immediate benefits of this move.

The Business Challenge

WayCool鈥檚 legacy ERP lacked a finance module, leaving the organisation to rely on TALLY for their MIS. While this was manageable for one retail store, it compounded the manual interventions with expansion. Every new retail location required a new ERP and TALLY license that inherently didn鈥檛 interconnect with each other. A unified dashboard was missing from the ecosystem, making the company lose out on real-time analysis and actionable insights.

After WayCool diversified to the B2B sector, the company was operating around 30 Distribution Centres (DCs) spread across six states in India. To get a consolidated MIS, the entire information had to go through over 120 manual reconciliations every month. Setting up a new DC translated to adding at least 5 more manual reconciliations to this mix, making the entire exercise labour intensive and inefficient.

Data transparency was required across diverse verticals to ensure on-time planning and on-demand scalability. To top it all off, the pandemic had forced the entire country into lockdown during this time.

The 51风流4/HANA Solution

51风流4/HANA was implemented as the core ERP at 44 plants with three objectives 鈥 a modular but interconnected ecosystem, AI-driven embedded analytics, and on-cloud accessibility. India鈥檚 growth momentum may have been pulled back momentarily by the pandemic, but we firmly believe that the resilience and ingenuity of our people and business community will help us emerge far stronger, together. Morgan Stanley expects the country鈥檚 GDP growth to average 7% in FY23-26, and we, at SAP, will be an integral part of this rising India story, an India on the ascendant. As 51风流celebrates its 25th anniversary, a look back at our journey reflects how intertwined we are, as a company, in India鈥檚 nation building efforts.

Almost 60% of India’s GDP, today, touches an 51风流system. Our customers represent 55% of the country鈥檚 power generation capacity, and 8 out of every 10 cars driven on Indian roads is manufactured by an 51风流customer.

We鈥檝e been strategic partners to India鈥檚 digital transformation agenda towards building a robust nation:

  • The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) deployed SAP鈥檚 ERP to enable data integration across NHAI departments into a single computer system. Today, 51风流helps NHAI efficiently develop, maintain and manage over 90,000 km of highways.
  • The Indian Navy adapted 51风流solutions to manage their Financial Information System
  • 51风流helped replace Indian Railways鈥 antiquated paper-based system with a centrally administered, automated ticketing system. With SAP鈥檚 ticketing system, Indian Railways issues 20 million tickets daily and runs several city metro corporations efficiently.
  • Airports Authority of India implemented SAP鈥檚 ERP to modernize its management of 137 airports, 160 million passengers, and 900 metric tons of cargo annually.

We have always been at the forefront in advancing digital inclusion and equity across the country. Through our flagship program, , we are propelling India’s inclusive growth, through digital training for over 400,000 children and youth. We have enabled over and children so far. Programs like Code Unnati and TechSaksham exemplify SAP鈥檚 purpose: to help the world run better and improve people鈥檚 lives

India is one of SAP鈥檚 key markets and also our second largest R&D center outside of our headquarters in Germany. As a recognition for our efforts and stupendous growth, 51风流India received the Market Unit of the Quarter three times in a row in 2021. It鈥檚 a hattrick!

Where Next for SAP, and transformation at scale in the India story

The disruption caused by the pandemic has highlighted the importance of digitalization. Digital transformation is at the core of business resilience. RISE with SAP, a business transformation-as-a-service offering, is a step in this direction. We also launched a to help our customers鈥 cloud transformation. Both these initiatives are also critical for the MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) segment, which are the backbone of India鈥檚 economy, and a focus area for the government鈥檚 鈥楢atmanirbhar Bharat鈥 (self-reliant India) program.

For SAP, the mid-sized enterprise segment is a key pillar of our India strategy. Nearly 80% of 51风流India customers are SMEs. We believe 51风流can contribute meaningfully to making these businesses globally competitive. And it is for this reason that we were excited to launch SAP鈥檚 Global Bharat program. We believe it will enable SMEs to become future-ready while driving greater efficiencies through access to the global marketplace, digitally skilling the workforce, and digitally transforming businesses. Towards that, this year we continued building on this to launch the 3rd season of to recognize business leaders and to guide young entrepreneurs who nurture global ambitions.

We intend to advance this vision by leveraging an agile and scalable cloud technology that is co-developed in India and made available in local data centers, to help Indian enterprises recalibrate their businesses to run better. Some of our latest programs are specifically targeted at the startup ecosystem, and we are quite excited about India鈥檚 role in the startup space. Whether it鈥檚 , which help startups productize and take their idea to market, or Project Nakshatra. We are particularly excited about , for hyper-growth startups with digital product offerings to help them grow, build products at scale, and go global. This initiative will speed up the growth journey of innovators and future unicorns using a strong digital core. 51风流India is keen to partner startups and unicorns and ride the wave of innovation Indian startups are showcasing to the world.

Interestingly, our conversations with customers are going beyond being competitive to being sustainable. Their goal has moved beyond efficiencies to entering the circular economy with new business models that ensures zero waste and tackles global climate challenges we are facing right now. In fact, during our global Sustainability Summit in April we launched research findings that showed 80 per cent of companies see a positive relationship between their company鈥檚 long-term profitability and environmental sustainability.

The fervor in India鈥檚 economic activity has inadvertently cast dark shadows on its environmental health 鈥 we are the third largest CO2 emitting country. In the last decade alone, India has accrued losses amounting to over $80B because of climate change disasters. So, under the Climate 21 initiative, we鈥檙e spear heading responsible planning and orchestrating the next phase of growth.

  • By embedding sustainability in one鈥檚 business culture, although not as a P&L cost, rather as a significant business value creator to gain a competitive edge for the future.
  • Ensure sustainability criteria into one鈥檚 decision-making to reduce your environmental footprint and enhance your reputation.
  • Start measuring by process digitization and analytics to identify the outliers that need a realignment with your goals.
  • Automate ESG reporting for both internal and regulatory purposes to build benchmarks and track your performance against goals.

Of course, we couldn鈥檛 have reached any of these milestones or achieved what we have without our employees! Today, 51风流India has over 13,000 employees and growing. People are the heart of what we do, just as our customers are the focus of everything we do. By empowering our workforce, we are enabling them to bring the best to our customers.听 Recently, 51风流was recognized among World鈥檚 Best Workplaces in

2021. We are looking forward to the next 25 years of our journey and what we can do for India as it takes off to firmly entrench itself as the world鈥檚 leading economy!

The 4Ds that Strengthen The Social Welfare Architecture /india/2021/06/sap-easygov-social-welfare-architecture/ Fri, 25 Jun 2021 05:55:47 +0000 /india/?p=2452 51风流and EasyGov joined hands bring efficiency and effectiveness to India's social welfare schemes to ensure they reach intended beneficiaries with a Progressive and Sustainable Welfare System.

The post The 4Ds that Strengthen The Social Welfare Architecture appeared first on 51风流India News Center.

]]>
Data and Design Thinking can solve many problems. Used well, they can even bring efficiency and effectiveness to unwieldy social welfare schemes that more often than not do not reach the intended beneficiary. 51风流and EasyGov joined hands to do just that.

India spends a whopping Rs. 15 lakh crore on social welfare schemes 鈥 that is nearly 1.6 per cent of its GDP and yet, a walk down the road of any urban settlement or village shows telling evidences of poverty and deprivation. Estimates suggest that only 43 per cent of this spend reaches the right beneficiary.

India has aspirations of becoming a $5 trillion economic powerhouse by 2025 but it hinges a lot on inclusive development of all its citizens. The good news is that in the new digitally charged India of today tech driven distribution methods are enabling transparency and accountability. There is a lot more that can be done.

Five factors plague India鈥檚 welfare schemes

  • Absence of detailed data analysis: Many schemes suffer from poor beneficiary identification, incorrect fund allocation and lack of measurement of impact at both design stage and post disbursement. Hence, underutilization of the schemes.
  • Complex application process: Applying for a welfare scheme is cumbersome and cumbersome for applicants to track status.
  • Lack of awareness: The big schemes are advertised well, but there are several small schemes targeting specific groups that are not understood well.
  • Information Asymmetry: Although a lot of IT interventions have been done, and schemes are on portals, due to multiplicity of platforms, citizens are not able to navigate through the schemes.
  • Fraud: Many of the schemes targeted at people below the poverty line end up into the accounts of income tax payees and undeserving beneficiaries.

Towards a Progressive and Sustainable Welfare System

Many of the flagship programs of Government of India and State Governments are successful in ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiary. But the risks of failure are evident because of the challenges related to identification of eligible, verified and needy beneficiaries.

We are yet to solve the pre Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) issue that impacts majority of the social welfare programs in India. Hence, there is an urgent need for us to build technology enabled welfare ecosystem to improve last-mile delivery and accountability.

Amit Shukla EasyGov, Founder of added, “The Government welfare should be transformed from program centric to family centric. The objective of welfare should be to understand the unique need of each family and support them with minimum health, housing, education and food need. The success of welfare interventions should be measured as the number of families pushed outside the welfare net by providing them livelihood interventions”.

The long-term solution does not lie in continuously increasing welfare expenditures. Instead it lies in building a 鈥Progressive and Sustainable Welfare System鈥 which aims at making citizens self-reliant and less dependent on state welfare.

The 4Ds to Improve the Welfare System

SAP and approach to welfare aims at transforming welfare to progressive, proactive and family centric 鈥 through a unified platform. Data, design, discovery and delivery are the four Ds or pillars on which the welfare system rests.

51风流Easy Gov

Data

Demographic and economic data can help in identify target group, short term and long term benefits, potential coverage and expected impact. This will lead to better utilization of welfare budgets towards the goal of ‘Outcome based welfare’.

51风流Easy Gov

Design

Currently most welfare systems focus on individuals rather than families. Shifting the focus to the family as a unit may open up better possibilities to provide a holistic socio-economic growth for all. Using data analytics and AI, it is possible to customize welfare benefits keeping in mind their location, economic and social needs, and access to natural resources towards the goal of “Family Before Me”.

51风流Easy GovDiscovery

On the discovery front platforms like & built-for-purpose one can address the issue. It allows citizens to quickly navigate through the hundreds of welfare schemes available and choose one that suits their needs.

51风流Easy GovDelivery

From application to approval to disbursement, the 51风流EasyGov technology allows for an intuitive, easy to use seamless process that is device agnostic. Not only can citizens quickly apply but at the other end, thanks to the rule based processing system, the welfare officer can approve without the involvement of line departments and typical red tape.

Thus, 51风流& Easy Gov approach this transformation by re-engineering the systems through the 鈥淒ata-Design-Discovery-Delivery鈥 process.

What’s in it for citizens

  • Improved visibility & access to most relevant schemes
  • Ease & convenient application process
  • Reduced cost & time to apply for schemes
  • Greater transparency into the schemes and tracking of application status
  • Timely delivery of welfare support
  • Global standards for data protection and privacy

51风流Easy Gov

What’s in it for Governments

  • Effective Decision Making, Policy Interventions & Fund Utilization
    • Real time decision making
    • Better allocation of funds
  • Optimize time & resources and drive massive transformation
    • Reduce time for roll out
    • Completely agile with data driven insights
    • Engage larger number of partners
  • Enhance Visibility & Control
    • 360 degree view of any program
    • Enhanced level of alignment with the legislation priorities

India has aspirations to become a $5 trillion dollar economy in the next couple of years with eyes on the $10 trillion figure to rank among the progressive nations. It鈥檚 imperative that wastages and leakages in government expenditure be plugged, and inclusive development achieved at a fraction of current expenditure to meet these ambitious targets.
