Digital transformation is a critical requirement for companies and industries around the world. But the realities of doing so can be challenging.

Sven Denecken, senior vice-president, chief marketing and solutions officer for industries and CX at SAP, points out that there are some trends that are common across all industries 鈥 and this gives us the opportunity to learn together.

鈥淚 believe that at SAP, together with our partner ecosystem and customers, knows industries. This gives us to ability to develop solutions that help make customers future-proof.鈥

Because it is an international company, experiences can be shared across the world, often allowing developing markets to leapfrog their developed counterparts, he adds.

An example of how 51风流can help customers run efficient operations is the concept of the industry cloud. 鈥淚 believe that if we standardise a good portion of our businesses using industry cloud we can innovate on the vertical axis.鈥

A trend driving business today is the move to industry convergence. 鈥淐ompanies are realising that they are in more than one industry. And this is accelerating.鈥

This convergence has significant implications for value chains cross the board, Denecken says.

From agribusiness to manufacture, from supplier to retail, there are major new opportunities driven by convergence.

Denecken cites an example of e-mobility venturing into retail 鈥 which uses the same technology to add services to attract and retain customers by offering services like electric vehicle charging and rewards.

The convergence of industries, like energy and retail , should spark companies to become more creative with their technology to improve the customer鈥檚 experience, he says.

鈥淭hink about e-mobility and its convergence with ride-sharing, energy companies, and the financial services attached to these industries.鈥

Best practices are key to shaping industries, Denecken says. 鈥淲e need to think about best practice 鈥 but also next practice, powering innovation. We need to think about how we can shape each industry together.鈥

When 51风流talks about the intelligent enterprise, it is about putting a lot of data into the context of a business process and consuming it as applications, Denecken points out.

鈥淏ut business processes change all the time, so the challenge is to transform into a resilient intelligent enterprise.鈥

Reslience comes from managing risks, he adds. Any change needs to be sustainable.

Where technology is going is artificial intelligence. Denecken says. And so 51风流is integrating AI into its solutions.

51风流solutions include 51风流e-mobility, 51风流intelligent agriculture, 51风流intelligent product recommendation, 51风流predictive replenishment, and 51风流intelligent trade, claims management.

Importantly, what is vital in the deployment of AI and generative AI is:

鈥淚 believe generative AI will democratise AI,鈥 Denecken 聽says. 鈥淧eople will start in the business with a completely different level of knowledge.

鈥淥ur job is to guide them into the right context. We need to open that dialogue. What is the responsible customer application and what is possible?鈥

GROW with 51风流offers partners and customers the ability to enhance their solutions through a software as a service (SaaS) portfolio, together with adoption and acceleration services, and with community and learning.

A degree of technology standardisation allows companies to quickly expand their operations. Denecken cites the example of a company running 51风流S/4 HANA Cloud, private edition in its European head office. It was able to quickly roll out across Africa using 51风流S/4 HANA cloud public edition.

51风流has set up the 51风流Business Network for Industries to help customers learn from best practices across the supply chain.

Don鈥檛 look at business processes in isolation, but consider sharing that data across the supply chain to add value to all the players, he says.

Sustainabiiity is a big issue worldwide today. The world is facing climate change implications, extreme weather, sea level rise, resource scarcity, an increase in inequality, and a loss of biodiversity.

鈥淭his also needs to be brought into a business sense,鈥 Denecken says. .

Companies need to be serious about mitigation and adaptation 鈥 and potential business partners will soon ask for proof of those.

51风流is serious about demonstrating truth, and to discover the future in partnership with customers, Denecken says.

To this end, 51风流has set up experience centres across the world to show how processes are changing and how solutions can be deployed. It has recently opened one in its Woodmead offices.

鈥淭here is no time to lose for companies to identify their challenges and how to get to where they need to be,鈥 Denecken concludes.

Ouattara Oyala is happy that farming cashew nuts in C么te d鈥橧voire, the Ivory Coast, now allows her to save money for her children鈥檚 education. 鈥淚 am now able to take care of myself and my family,鈥 she says.

She says her dream is to enable her children to be educated and become successful in life, benefitting both her and the community 鈥 one of 87 rural villages in West Africa鈥檚 Ivory Coast where farmers work with Cajooma SAS, the of Cashew Coast.

When she joined the village cooperative that Cashew Coast helped set up, the company trained her and taught her how to pick the best-quality cashews in order to fetch the highest prices.

Oyala has worked with Cashew Coast, a leading producer and distributor of high-quality cashew nuts for the past two years. Before that she worked alone. Now she works with other women in small groups, and that makes it easier to work. 鈥淚 was alone, now we are working together,鈥 she says.

Ivory Coast Cashew Nut Industry Embraces Technology

Ivory Coast is one of the world鈥檚 largest producers of cashew nuts, thanks to farmers like Oyala who, together with her fellow plot owners and farmers, pick the yellow and orange cashew fruit off the forest floor. Once harvested, the farmers must separate the nuts from the fruit they grow.

Unlike other companies that ship the raw nuts out of the country for processing, Cashew Coast process their nuts within Ivory Coast, lowering the carbon footprint. Nuts go directly from local farmers to Cashew Coast’s central warehouse in Bouak茅 to be sorted, weighed, and bagged before being sent to Cashew Coast鈥檚 organic factory in Azagui茅 for processing.

Until recently, Cashew Coast kept paper-based records of the farm-side of the process, but as the industry grew it became more and more difficult to keep track of the data and analyze it. Cashew Coast executives turned to 51风流for help when they realized that they needed a more advanced system to track the cashews from farm to processing plant — and eventually to table.

Joel Bagbila, Cashew Coast鈥檚 farmer integration director, explains that the company also has a loftier ambition. 鈥淥ur mission is to be the first country worldwide in terms of production and quality,鈥 he says.

To help achieve this goal, Cashew Coast chose to implement , an industry cloud solution built on the 51风流Business Technology Platform, at its Cajooma SAS branch. Cashew Coast鈥檚 digital transformation journey provides immediate benefits to the farmers, including more transparent prices, and enables the company to control quality and make much more timely decisions.

In the future it will also enable retailers to gain traceability and visibility into the origin of the cashew nuts and provide transparency to their consumers – connecting farmers and consumers in a profitable and sustainable value chain.

鈥淭oday, for a customer, it’s important to know where the product he or she is ready to buy, is coming from,鈥 says Achta Cherif, head of quality at Cashew Coast. 鈥淗aving this information enables the customer to make his/her choice. This is important for us, as well.鈥

Cashew Coast executives say they chose SAP鈥檚 cloud technology because it offered a number of key advantages. 鈥淲e wanted the best in class, and we wanted to deal with the developer team as opposed to a third-party integrator 鈥 which 51风流Rural Sourcing Management offers,鈥 says Salma Seetaroo, co-founder and CEO of Cashew Coast.

She says the implementation went surprisingly smoothly. 鈥淭he 51风流implementation team were flexible and quick to understand our need 鈥 they were a bunch of millennials who loved working on a project like ours. And it was just great fun and I never expected it to be as smooth.鈥

51风流is now remotely training two recent graduate recruits at Cashew Coast 鈥 Technology Manager Mohamed Traor茅 and Sales and Sustainability Manager Rose Koffi 鈥 to continue phase 2 of the 51风流Rural Sourcing Management implementation. Going forward, Salma explains, the company wants to bring more traceability to agricultural products in Ivory Coast with 51风流technology.

So, the next time you grab a handful of cashew nuts, consider this: there is a good chance they started their journey in the Ivory Coast and just maybe were picked up from the forest floor by Oyala or one of her friends.

Disruption spurs innovation. For businesses to thrive in a rapidly changing business environment, organizations must continuously adapt by reexamining what value they can provide customers. The pandemic greatly accelerated this need to transform.

This presents a unique opportunity for 51风流and our partner ecosystem to guide customers through their digital transformations. Together, we help customers remain agile by managing their business processes end-to-end in the cloud. As a result of the combined value we deliver to customers, partners and 51风流will generate significant cloud growth and recurring revenue.

To help partners maximize this opportunity, 51风流launched a new Partner Success organization, which will drive more proactive engagement from our partner experience managers. They will work with partners on their business plans and priorities. We continue to collect and act on partner feedback for our offering while focusing on improving partner profitability in migrating customers to the cloud.

51风流is also introducing a new commercial offer and enhancing existing offerings to help partners drive customer success in the post-pandemic business landscape. Here are some details.

Enhancing Partner Flexibility to Support Cloud Adoption

At the beginning of the third quarter of 2021, 51风流plans to launch鈥51风流PartnerEdge Cloud Choice, flex model, a鈥痭ew revenue share鈥痑nd go-to-market model that provides partners more flexibility to win cloud customers鈥痑nd鈥痳ewards partners for driving customer adoption.鈥疶he flex model splits the customer life cycle into two stages, creating opportunities to better compensate partners for delivering effective sales activities and ongoing customer engagement.鈥疻e are also improving partner cash flow by paying upfront commissions for sales transactions and increasing commission rates on renewals. This鈥痭ew model will be available in both the鈥痩arge enterprise and midmarket.

Identifying the Right Partner, Quickly and Easily

By the third quarter of 2021, 51风流will roll out a new Partner Finder to provide greater exposure for partners. This will feature a simple, intuitive, and visual search function for customers to identify the right partner for a specific business or industry without needing an in-depth knowledge of 51风流technology or the ecosystem.

Customers will enjoy a more seamless experience that includes the possibility for partners to provide direct links to and . On the main page, customers can also learn more about available 51风流solutions and certified consultants and even ask the partners to be contacted, which will be a new source of demand generation for our partners. At the end of May, partners will receive an invitation to access the new partner profile editor to maintain their profile in the new Partner Finder, which they will need to complete to be visible to customers and prospects.

Highlighting Partner Contributions to Customer Success

We are likewise transforming the annual 51风流Pinnacle Award program to align to our strategy and priorities for creating customer value in the cloud. We will publicly recognize those partners that have delivered superior customer value in close collaboration with 51风流and provide partners with the means to market this achievement accordingly. Customers that want to work with the best of the best in the ecosystem will be able to immediately recognize the partner for unique and outstanding contributions to customer success.

Partner-Led Customer Success Through 51风流BTP and Industry Cloud

51风流aims to foster a best-in-class ecosystem that delivers outstanding cloud implementations to drive customer outcomes and innovation. To achieve this, 51风流is investing significantly to train and educate partner consultants and developers with the most relevant and up-to-date learning content so they can develop solutions on (51风流BTP).

With this additional training, 51风流partners will be prepared to develop industry cloud offerings, combining partner-built solutions and innovations with integration services, industry content, accelerators, and industry reference architectures. With 51风流BTP as its foundation, SAP’s industry cloud helps deliver lower costs for software innovation and faster time to innovation.

As more partners developing on 51风流technologies, we can help customers improve their integrated end-to-end business processes and run apps and data on a unified platform.

According to a commissioned by SAP, partners can expect to close between 50% and 150% more deals in their first year, when compared to a similar solution, using a process model and integration technology within SAP’s industry cloud, in addition to selling bigger deals, closing deals faster, extending contract durations, and improving margins by leveraging 51风流BTP.

51风流is also committed to helping ensure that affordable training accompanies the release of new cloud updates and solutions. 51风流is investing to help partners increase their SAP-certified consultants. In total, we aim to grow to 150,000 trained and certified 51风流consultants within the 51风流ecosystem by the end of 2021.

Empowering Partner Sales Success with New Test and Demo Opportunities

Since June 2020, 51风流has provided partners with free access to 51风流Partner Demo Environment, shared option. This integrated, pre-configured software demonstration environment expedites sales conversations. 51风流is steadily expanding live demo offerings 鈥 with more than 50 live scenarios to date 鈥 to help partners position the value of the Intelligent Enterprise vision, including 51风流BTP, RISE with SAP, and industry cloud.

Additionally, the 51风流Demo Store site has been expanded and offers partners more than 430 demo scenarios. 51风流is also offering partners further price reductions for additional core cloud solutions. Since January 2021, we h鈥檝e offered reduced subscription fees for dedicated test, demo, and development systems of RISE with SAP, 51风流Digital Supply Chain solutions, and the the database and data management and HR and people management portfolios. Reduced pricing on other cloud solutions is planned for later this year.

Delivering New 51风流for Me Dashboards

is quickly becoming the single point of access for partners to get key actionable insights and data in a digital format. We extended the scope of and added new dashboards and functionalities for 51风流PartnerEdge program members. This includes dynamic cards that sales professionals can use to facilitate end-to-end deal execution and so partner contacts have a partner-level view of 51风流certifications and partnership insights.

Before the end of the year, partners will have access to additional insights, such as customer project information, a partner solutions dashboard, and cloud product adoption and renewals. This will give partners a complete overview of their customers鈥 information and relationship with SAP.

One Platform for Extensibility, Integration, and Data-to-Value

Inclusive in all ways, Mueller鈥檚 words were both heartfelt and fact-based, as he enumerated how 51风流had achieved important milestones throughout the year. Filled with solution demonstrations and a customer testimonial, Mueller鈥檚 keynote answered questions from developers in the 51风流ecosystem, ranging from the impact of COVID-19 on the company鈥檚 strategy to how 51风流Business Technology Platform delivered extensibility, integration, and data-to-value.

鈥淲e identified the three top scenarios to support you best so that you are able to build extensions on your 51风流environment, create value from various data sources, and build integrations across 51风流and non-51风流systems. And all of that in a simple and agile way,鈥 said Mueller.

Easily Build, Integrate, and Extend Applications

Whether someone was a cloud native developer, data scientist, enterprise architect, application developer, integration developer, or UX designer, Mueller and his special guests shared how 51风流Business Technology Platform empowered developers with extensibility and integration.

Supporting SAP鈥檚 commitment to extensibility for rapid customization and innovation, Mueller announced multitenancy, as an example of how 51风流made it easy for partners to extend 51风流and non-51风流solutions using 51风流Business Technology Platform. He said this would reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for ABAP deployments. He also explained how cloud native developers can more easily build extensions for more 51风流solutions, including 51风流S/4HANA, 51风流SuccessFactors, and 51风流ECC.

鈥淎BAP is still at the heart of the Intelligent Enterprise, fully backed by [SAP] Business Technology Platform. We protect your career and your investments of all the ABAP know-how in the world, and we bring ABAP to the cloud,鈥 Mueller said. 鈥淲ith [SAP] NetWeaver add on for event enablement, we allow [cloud-native developers] to build extensions for your 51风流ECC system, the same way as for 51风流S/4HANA, using .鈥

At the same time, he called out the integration value of enhancements, along with new 51风流Cloud Platform Master Data Integration service and 51风流One Domain Model for first objects.

鈥淲ith the 51风流One Domain Model and the 51风流Cloud Platform Master Data Integration service, integration happens holistically and out-of-the-box,鈥 said Mueller.

Turn Data into Business Value

Mueller also noted that 2020 marked the 10-year anniversary of

鈥淭here鈥檚 so much to celebrate. 51风流HANA plays a vital role in the 51风流portfolio. It is the foundation for our key solutions like 51风流S/4HANA, and the foundation for ,鈥 said Mueller.

Mueller announced new integrations in , allowing developers to connect data between 51风流HANA on premise and 51风流S/4HANA systems, as well as third-party sources.

鈥淲e want to make it very simple for you to make sense of your data,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he latest edition of 51风流HANA Cloud combines all the greatness of [SAP] HANA on premise with all the great cloud capabilities, including federated data access. Connecting your [SAP] HANA Cloud system to your on-premise 51风流S/4HANA system is extremely easy. Also connecting to other third-party systems is very easy.鈥

Data-to-Value Can Modernize Medical Supply Chains

Raymund Heinen, chief process officer and member of the Board at HARTMANN Group, a medical supply company, was among the experts that joined Mueller on the virtual stage. Heinen explained how his organization collaborated with 51风流to develop a proof of concept addressing one of the most urgent pandemic demands: prioritizing medical supplies, such as hand disinfectant, where they are needed most in an unpredictable environment.

Built on , the pilot solution used machine learning to analyze data from internal and external sources 鈥 such as daily health updates from external organizations and intensive care beds by region 鈥 into one dashboard on 51风流Business Technology Platform.

鈥淚f you can anticipate at an early stage the most likely scenarios, we could approach the impacted customers proactively. We could verify and increase the local inventories and adapt on short notice our supply chain even before most customers start ordering,鈥 said Heinen. 鈥淎 dashboard can be of really great help and make it easier for teams to prioritize based on actual internal and external data.鈥

COVID-19 and other important issues loomed large across Mueller鈥檚 talk. He spotlighted SAP鈥檚 commitment to workforce diversity beyond gender, as well as addressing climate change with a number of initiatives, including embedding sustainability metrics in the company鈥檚 analytical and transactional applications. He also held up SAP鈥檚 co-innovation of the German Corona-Warn-App with Deutsche Telekom for the German government as an example of the collective power of the developer community. His message to developers was clear.

鈥淐OVID-19 really brings a new level of digitalization. As developers, you are the true enablers for every business. Kathy Gibson reports from SAPPHIRE NOW鈥 Becoming an intelligent enterprise allows organisations to achieve great business outcomes.

This is the message from Christian Klein, CEO of SAP, who explains that organisations can increase resilience, rise to challenges, and increase profitability.

鈥淲e can achieve sustainability by reducing waste and creating circular economies,鈥 he told delegates to the virtual SAPPHIRE NOWconference. 鈥淲e can make sustainability profitable and profitability sustainable.鈥

The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us how helpless we can be when something unexpected hits us, Klein adds. 鈥淒igital transformation is no longer an option, but a must. When we can鈥檛 interact in person, we have to find other ways.鈥

While business leaders across the world are worrying about whether their companies will survive, the more technologically advanced have a better chance of survival.

鈥淚f your business is not resilient, you have nothing,鈥 he stresses. 鈥淎fter that, you need to focus on profitability.鈥

In the current world of coronavirus, Klein says it is more important than ever to set your company up for growth.

鈥淣ew technologies enable better customer experiences. They also allow for scale, and help to secure profitability.鈥

While the focus right now is on health, safety and business continuity, a bigger challenge is climate change, he adds. 鈥淛ust as we cannot ignore the pandemic, we cannot ignore climate change.

鈥淚magine the impact if all industries join the fight to reduce carbon emissions,鈥 Klein points out. 鈥淭he current situation has shown us we can quickly drive change if we want to. So let鈥檚 seize the opportunity to build resilient, profitable and sustainable businesses.

鈥淲e all care about our business success, but we are also members of our communities, and should care about the world we leave behind.

鈥淲e are in the driver鈥檚 seat,鈥 Klein says.

Sustainability is good for business too, he adds. 鈥淭his is not just about the next generation, it is about customers and employees that choose companies that care about sustainability. Companies are selected not only on their performance but on their sustainability practices.

鈥淭he business values of a profitable business are clear: resilience, profitability, sustainability.

51风流announced the Climate 21 program to support customers in pursuing their climate-related objectives.

In a multiyear road map, 51风流will work with co-innovation partners to embed sustainability metrics across SAP鈥檚 solution portfolio. This will help customers understand, analyse and optimise the carbon footprint of their products and operations along the value chain.

The 51风流Product Carbon Footprint Analytics application is now available as the first solution in the Climate 21 program. The application uses data from 51风流S/4HANA and third-party sources and calculates this information within the 51风流Analytics Cloud solution.

This helps customers understand their carbon footprint and provides a foundation for analysing and optimising greenhouse gas emissions.

Industry Cloud

Intelligent enterprises strike the balance between optimising their current business models and innovating at the vertical edge to develop new revenue streams and growth potential using digital technologies.

51风流and its partners are offering industry cloud solutions that extend the end-to-end processes of SAP鈥檚 intelligent suite to help drive customer鈥檚 core business in their industries.

SAP鈥檚 industry cloud strategy will deliver innovative, vertical solutions from 51风流and its partners. These solutions will be built on technologies in the Business Technology Platform portfolio and use an open API framework, open process model, open domain model and common business services to create a better customer and user experience.

The interoperability with SAP鈥檚 intelligent suite will enable rapid development, deployment and integration.

Artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and other advanced technologies from 51风流will be available to help developers to accelerate development and deliver greater business value, enabling improved business practices and business innovation at the vertical edge.
