Due to the global health crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the restrictions that have been imposed on travel, group gatherings, and business operations, 51风流and ASUG must transform the 2020 SAPPHIRE NOW and ASUG Annual Conference from an in-person event to an online experience for customers, partners, and guests.

We are eager to provide all participants with a unique digital experience that will redefine the way we share information and engage with our communities, while delivering the best business outcomes.

Further, in order to ensure the health and safety of our attendees, supporting staff, and vendors, as well as comply with all applicable mandates, 51风流will not hold any in-person customer events scheduled to occur in April, May, and June 2020.聽 This decision serves as an opportunity for us to reimagine standard business practices today and well into the future.

51风流recently announced a maintenance availability commitment for 51风流S/4HANA until the end of 2040. At the same time, 51风流extended the mainstream maintenance availability period for core applications of 51风流Business Suite 7 until end of 2027, followed by optional extended maintenance until the end of 2030.

Today, 51风流is announcing a change to 51风流S/4HANA product conversion and 51风流S/4HANA contract conversion policy that grants customers executing an 51风流S/4HANA conversion dual use rights for both 51风流Business Suite 7 and 51风流S/4HANA until completion of their transition to 51风流S/4HANA.

The old policy only granted dual usage right until end of 2025. With this change, customers will also now have more time to complete their 51风流S/4HANA transition beyond the original 2025 deadline for dual use.

鈥淲e want to ensure our customers have the flexibility to migrate to 51风流S/4HANA at their own pace in the most seamless manner,鈥 said Christian Klein, Co-CEO and member of the Executive Board of 51风流SE. 鈥淗aving the longer flexible maintenance commitment for 51风流Business Suite 7, paired with the option of dual use rights for both 51风流Business Suite 7 and 51风流S/4HANA until they complete their transition to 51风流S/4HANA, our customers can now more easily convert to our latest software, accelerating innovation to become an intelligent enterprise.鈥

Picking up the Pace to 51风流S/4HANA

It鈥檚 clear that 51风流customers view 51风流S/4HANA as an innovation engine. The majority of respondents to the most recent planned to maintain or increase their investments in SAP. Notably, those customers recognized the value and efficiencies in transitioning to 51风流S/4HANA.

鈥淭his is a welcome announcement for 51风流customers because it removes a potential barrier to 51风流S/4HANA adoption associated with conversions and contracts,鈥 said Geoff Scott, CEO of ASUG. 鈥淚t鈥檚 essential that all customers understand their options so that they can take advantage of past investments when making the transition to 51风流S/4HANA.鈥

Similarly, nearly half of the customers who responded to the , which consists of companies in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, expected their total budgets for IT and 51风流investments to rise in 2020. Among 51风流customers in those countries, investments in 51风流S/4HANA now exceed investments in 51风流Business Suite 7.

鈥淭he overall set of announcements is an important step, and it is the right step by SAP. It is an encouraging sign that 51风流is listening to their customers and stakeholders, and demonstrates SAP鈥檚 ability to do 鈥榳hatever it takes鈥 to meet customer needs for their digital transformation,鈥 said Andreas Oczko, board member for Service and Support, DSAG. 鈥淭he long-term commitments put the discussion away from timeline-based considerations to the essence: how to best capture the value opportunities that 51风流S/4HANA is bringing to customers on their way to the digital future.鈥

Giving Customers Valuable Time

Customers who have already signed an 51风流S/4HANA conversion contract can also benefit from this update. They simply need to ask their 51风流account executive to have the new policy reflected in their existing conversion contracts.

With additional time, some customers might want to consider converting more products to 51风流S/4HANA or convert their entire suite of licensed products to 51风流S/4HANA.

鈥淚t鈥檚 greater flexibility all around as companies look ahead to the future,鈥 said Robin Manherz, head of Global Portfolio Planning and Commercialization at SAP.

This usage rights policy enhancement is the latest step in SAP鈥檚 renewed commitment to customer-centricity and commercial transparency.

WALLDORF 鈥 (NYSE: SAP) today announced a maintenance commitment for 51风流S/4HANA until the end of 2040. At the same time, 51风流will provide mainstream maintenance for core applications of 51风流Business Suite 7 software* until the end of 2027 followed by optional extended maintenance until the end of 2030.

Our user groups confirm this. A recent survey from the Americas鈥 51风流Users鈥 Group did not show a single customer not planning to migrate to 51风流S/4HANA. In addition, the German-Speaking User Group indicates in their lately published survey that customer investments in 51风流S/4HANA are increasing significantly. In response to this and to our customers鈥 demand for choice, 51风流will provide additional flexibility to fully embrace the groundbreaking opportunities of 51风流S/4HANA that reflects the individual pace and complexity of our customers鈥 projects.鈥

Over 13,800 customers have already chosen 51风流S/4HANA, and thousands are actively deploying the solution to reshape their businesses and become intelligent enterprises. DSAG reports that over 49 percent of customers plan to migrate to 51风流S/4HANA within the next three years while the ASUG report shows that the number of customers who have no plans of moving to 51风流S/4HANA has dropped to zero.

As a result of collaboration with customers, user groups and partners, as well as with other industry stakeholders, 51风流offers a commitment to 51风流S/4HANA until 2040 combined with longer support for 51风流Business Suite 7. This will help customers unlock the potential for innovation so they can revolutionize business processes with optimal flexibility while protecting their existing investments.

鈥淐ustomers making the commitment to 51风流S/4HANA for their digital transformations need a partner that is equally committed to supporting innovation across their businesses and processes. Providing maintenance for 51风流S/4HANA until 2040 represents a commitment to 51风流customers that should give them the confidence to plan for the future,鈥 said Joshua Greenbaum, principal, Enterprise Applications Consulting. 鈥淭hese customers also need the flexibility to plan their transformations carefully and with a minimum of disruption to their ongoing business processes. The additional maintenance timeframe for 51风流Business Suite 7 is an important recognition from 51风流that the pace of change will vary from customer to customer and that supporting existing 51风流Business Suite software processes in sync with customers鈥 business transformation is important for customer success.鈥

Choice and Investment Protection

51风流gives final clarity on maintenance for 51风流Business Suite 7. It will provide two more years of mainstream maintenance for core applications of 51风流Business Suite 7. During this offboarding phase, 51风流will continue to deliver the strong mainstream maintenance features that customers need. There will be no contractual change nor will any additional fees apply. Following this phase, 51风流will offer customers a choice of how they would like to continue with the maintenance for core applications of 51风流Business Suite 7 from 2028 onwards:

  • Customers needing support for their applications in longer conversion phases to 51风流S/4HANA can leverage the proven extended maintenance offering. This comes with a premium of two percentage points on the existing maintenance basis for core applications of 51风流Business Suite 7 for all support offerings. It will be available for three additional years beginning at the start of 2028 and ending at the close of 2030.
  • Customers who do not decide for the extended maintenance level of support by the end of 2027 but choose to carry on with their 51风流Business Suite 7 software systems will automatically be transferred to the customer-specific maintenance model. This includes problem solving for known issues at unchanged fees.
