London, UK 鈥 November 12 2025 – NTT DATA Business Solutions UK&I today announced the successful go-live of Amey鈥檚 51风流S/4HANA Cloud transformation. The programme delivered the seamless transition from a complex, 20-year-old legacy ECC system to 51风流Cloud ERP, Private Edition, hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – completed on time and on budget.

This major transformation is a cornerstone of Amey鈥檚 strategy to modernise its 51风流landscape and build a more agile, data-driven, and intelligent enterprise. By adopting 51风流S/4HANA, Amey has laid the foundation for a cloud-first, future-ready technology environment that improves efficiency across finance, procurement, and supply chain operations, while unlocking the benefits of AI-powered business processes.

The transformation arrives at a critical time, as Amey continues to deliver essential infrastructure services across the UK – including transportation networks, utilities, and public services. With 51风流S/4HANA at its core, Amey can optimise resource planning, enhance project execution, and harness data-driven insights to support sustainable, cost-effective service delivery.

Partnering for Success

Amey selected NTT DATA Business Solutions for its proven track record in 51风流transformations and its ability to deliver large-scale projects with minimal disruption. Using its specialised 51风流S/4HANA Technical Conversion Centre of Excellence, NTT DATA employed a factory-driven methodology built on automation, standardisation, and pre-configured solutions. This approach reduced both cost and complexity, accelerating Amey鈥檚 journey to the cloud and ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.

De-risking with Advanced Testing

To further reduce risk, Amey also deployed Tricentis test automation tools alongside the migration. This advanced testing framework validated critical processes at speed, ensuring that the new S/4HANA environment met stringent performance and security requirements while maintaining business continuity throughout the transition.

Delivering Immediate Value

Beyond the technical migration, Amey鈥檚 programme also delivered immediate business improvements. A data cleaning initiative removed more than 100 redundant company codes using Natuvion solutions, resulting in a leaner, more cost-efficient S/4HANA environment. This not only improved system performance but also lowered ongoing infrastructure costs.

Innovation was also central to the programme. Amey and NTT DATA Business Solutions successfully piloted the use of Generative AI to support safer highways, demonstrating how the new 51风流platform can serve as a foundation for digital innovation as well as operational excellence.

Looking ahead, Amey and NTT DATA Business Solutions are co-developing a long-term transformation roadmap. This outcome-driven strategy includes the adoption of 51风流Fiori, enhanced Accounts Receivable processes, Business Data Cloud, sustainability management tools, and Green Ledger capabilities. The roadmap ensures Amey鈥檚 investment continues to deliver measurable value aligned with its strategic goals for efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.

Simon Pennington, CTO – SAP, Automation & Cloud Business Suite, Amey, said: 鈥淎mey is committed to embracing the latest 51风流technology to drive efficiency and innovation across our operations. Moving to 51风流Cloud ERP is a critical part of our strategy to become a more agile and intelligent enterprise. With NTT DATA Business Solutions as our trusted partner, we achieved a seamless transition on time and under budget. This programme provides the foundation for improved service delivery and strengthens our position as a leader in the infrastructure sector.鈥

Andy Richards, Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO), Amey, commented: 鈥淚n NTT DATA we have found a partner for the journey ahead – to advise, guide, and implement our 51风流strategy. Their expertise and collaborative approach give us the confidence that we can continue to evolve our 51风流landscape to meet both today鈥檚 needs and tomorrow鈥檚 ambitions.鈥

Ben Foster, Sales Director, NTT DATA Business Solutions, added: 鈥淲e are proud to have partnered with Amey on this important transformation. Our 51风流S/4HANA Technical Conversion Centre of Excellence delivers a proven, low-risk approach that accelerates cloud adoption. The project鈥檚 success reflects the strength of this model. Together with Amey, we have built a foundation for innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.鈥

]]>
This golden quarter is shaping up to be unlike any other, especially with Black Friday and Christmas making these months so critical for the entire retail sector. The economic strains of 2023 have seen stubbornly high inflation, concerning interest rate rises, eyewatering energy prices and continued supply chain woes. Not forgetting that this is all precariously balanced on the shoulders of consumers with significantly less disposable income, thanks to a cost-of-living crisis, meaning retailers are really having to fight for every pound spent.

This is the first peak season where all of these macro-economic factors have culminated at once, making it unpredictable, to say the least. Not only is this peak going to be a test of retailer鈥檚 internal systems, supply chains, sales forecasts and overall resilience, it will be an acid test for consumer confidence, which could potentially provide some signalling of what the economic outlook for the next year may look like.

So how can retailers work smartly to make a successful Golden Quarter? Having a strong brand and product proposition is always key, supported by attracting customers through effective marketing strategies, all underpinned by secure multi-channel trading systems.

We know your plans for a prosperous peak are well underway and while there鈥檚 no silver bullet to ensure success, we share a few last-minute tips to help retailers tackle the Golden Quarter as efficiently as possible:

1-听Attract Customers Through a Bit of Christmas Cheer听

Still reeling from the impact of a global pandemic and lockdown life, combined with multiple wars disrupting supply chains, a climate crisis, high inflation and cost-of-living concerns, and it鈥檚 fair to say the world looks a little gloomy right now. But Christmas is a time where consumers want to get lost in the magic of the season, so this year provide escapism to solidify brand loyalty.

The importance of the physical store remains a critical part of every retailers delivery strategy. Absorb the Christmas atmosphere, embed it into your physical and virtual presence, making sure every customer visit is a happy & memorable experience. You just need to look to the master鈥檚 of the art like Harrod鈥檚, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason鈥檚 festive displays, to see how Christmas cheer and branding make a tangible difference to mood, footfall and crucially trading performance. Online, offer that memorable experience by using personalisation technology to better understand individual customers, and serve them accordingly. For loyal shoppers, offer little acts of kindness such as free delivery or a surprise gift, to reward them for spending their hard-earned money with you, it doesn鈥檛 go un-noticed and loyalty is worth the effort.

2- Revenue Diversification

Over the last year, more and more retailers have been developing own-brand products to reinvent their assortment and value proposition to improve margin. Now is the time to really let those products shine and encourage customers to try out something a bit different, in the hope that they keep buying that own-brand label throughout 2024 and beyond.
Equally, in a worrying time for the balance sheet, subscription services are making a comeback. Just take a look at Pets At Home which is combining product and services as part of its medium-term strategic vision announced in its record financial results earlier this year. Using its app, shoppers can book veterinary appointments, order repeat prescription deliveries and manage nutrition subscriptions, all in one convenient place.

The retailer understands the importance of having that consistent and repeated cash hitting the P&L, while customers can plan their finances more efficiently. Just make sure it鈥檚 what shoppers truly need, so it鈥檚 not the first direct debit to get cancelled when wallets tighten. So when that customer comes in to look for a stocking filler for Mr Meowington, just make sure that you share that a discounted subscription is also offered for the day-to-day essentials at the same time.

3-听Improve Cost-efficiency听

The main way to improve cost efficiency and protect profitability is to reduce business costs to cope with external pressures. You can start with streamlining processes with the use of process insight tools like , then use 鈥榩rocess automation鈥 where the Signavio report shows you how you can improve your business and where you can benefit the most. Also consider a technology platform to boost innovation and democratise coding as well as getting the business departments involved in supporting your competitiveness. It鈥檚 not just the IT department that can develop apps to boost your differentiation, or turbo boost important processes you identify. 听Low code/no code solutions such as which allows retailers to be agile and accelerate innovation, even if the big technology transformation project is still underway 鈥 integrate existing applications, dabble in AI, and create useful apps, automate processes and design business sites with drag-and-drop simplicity.

Take the great British retail Icon Harrods. The 174-year old department store was looking to and is using on 51风流Business Technology Platform, to connect both cloud and on-premise technologies, whilst simplifying it鈥檚 technical landscape, to ease communications and transactions with technology partners. By connecting several systems and vendors across myriad technologies, this helps Harrods address integration challenges and become more flexible to meet the fast-changing business needs 鈥 especially during peak season.

And talking of external pressures, when it comes to Black Friday, keeping an eye on competitors will be essential. But having intelligent software will allow retailers to implement smart pricing and promotions, to get the business through the period selling successfully whilst maintaining as much margin as possible.

4-听Look After Your Workforce听

Tis the season for the 鈥楥hristmas temp鈥 and last November there were nearly 28,000 jobs available across the UK, . That鈥檚 a lot of additional people to keep contented, meaning HR systems are critical to manage the extended team. Use AI like to sift through CVs or find the right internal talent, whilst making sure to take the time to ensure contracts are up to scratch, training is simple and effective, and complex shift patterns are easy to navigate. Why are you doing this, because at the end of the day, a happy workforce will drive better customer experience, and be more successful at selling during the busiest time of year.

5- Make Sure your ESG Strategy is Up to Scratch

This year, customers will be scrutinising prices and value for money like never before meaning they will spend more time assessing brands to make informed decisions rather than last minute panic buys that no one actually needs. The more time spent with a brand the more opportunities there are to surface ESG endeavours 鈥 tell the story of a fair supply chain or the net zero and green endeavours the business is making to future proof the planet 鈥 this is the time of year all eyes will be on retail, so make it count.

One of the UK鈥檚 largest NHS Purchasing Consortiums will deploy 51风流Ariba as part of its move to Digital Procurement Transformation, helping generate over 拢16m savings over five years

London, UK 鈥 19 September, 2023 – (NYSE: SAP), today announced it has selected to drive its digital procurement transformation programme as it embraces a single modern procurement platform in the cloud.

This new partnership with 51风流will streamline sourcing, contracts, supplier risk and procure to pay operations across two Trusts, addressing its legacy technology deficits and risk. The move to 51风流Ariba will help enable BWPC鈥檚 vision for procurement; 鈥淭o provide procurement support to the whole Healthier Together Partnership, improving patient care through effective management of the supply chain, whilst leveraging value across all our spend鈥.

BWPC is staffed by NHS employees hosted by North Bristol NHS Trust and its听services include all aspects of clinical and non-clinical purchasing, supply chain management and capital equipping (CES). BWPC currently supports two NHS Trusts including North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, representing over 23,000 employees.

Close working relationships with these Trusts, and collaboration with other organisations, brings economies of scale, sharing of data and best practice so that they maximise savings and efficiencies.听BWPC works closely with each client to support compliance with all purchase-to-pay procedures and delivering improved efficiencies in all areas including automation, consolidation of invoices, strictly controlled access to purchasing systems and so on.

To enable collaboration with other NHS organisations that are using Atamis for source to contract activity and to ensure compliance with transparency notice publication requirements, BWPC will be adhering to national data standards and building relevant process and integrations during the implementation of their new procurement platform.

To drive more efficiency and ultimately significant cost savings, BWPC has partnered with 51风流to digitially transform its entire source to pay processes. By implementing 51风流Ariba Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Risk and Procure to Pay, BWPC is looking to generate over 拢16m savings over five years as part of a multi-trust initiative.

David Druett, Director of Procurement at BWPC, said: 鈥淭he delivery of a comprehensive end to end procurement system will support our overarching vision to improve patient care through effective management of our supply chain. We look forward to partnering with 51风流to help us meet our objectives and ultimately provide a better service to our customers and patients.鈥

Ellie Lamey, Head of Intelligent Spend & Business Networks at 51风流UK&I, said: 鈥淭oday鈥檚 partnership with BWPC is further proof that we are the perfect scale and innovation partner for public sector organisations. With the speed, flexibility and agility of the cloud, organisations like BWPC can effectively manage costs and spend, while future-proofing their procurement operations against what challenges may come. We鈥檙e excited to help BWPC with its procurement transformation journey and ensure it continues to deliver the best possible patient care.鈥

]]>
  • Nearly a quarter of businesses expect supply challenges to last until Summer 2023
  • UK businesses expect to see raw material shortages, emptier shelves, and reduced availability of healthcare products/medication for the rest of 2022
  • Supply chain challenges will only add to cost-of-living woes as UK businesses expect to cut jobs and increase prices if their supply chain costs increase
  • LONDON, UK 鈥 (NYSE: SAP) today announced new research revealing that almost every UK organisation admits their supply chain needs improving, and over half (58%) think their supply chain needs a lot/ significant improvement. In response, 84% of UK businesses are planning to move on from the 50-year-old 鈥榡ust in time鈥 supply chain model, which prioritised costs above all else when selecting suppliers, to a 鈥榡ust in case鈥 approach.

The findings from the report highlights that since the start of the pandemic, supply chain issues have been disastrous for organisations in the UK. 66% of businesses have experienced delays in production of goods/delivery of services, 64% have seen revenues decrease and 58% have experienced a loss of customers. Given this outlook, it perhaps comes as little to no surprise that almost a quarter (23%) of businesses expect supply chain issues to last until Summer 2023.

Earlier this year, the UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak said: 鈥淭he supply chain crisis felt by so many businesses could in fact provide an impetus for companies to improve productivity, and thus ensuring higher wages are not cancelled out by rising inflation鈥.

But the picture for UK businesses tells a different story. For many businesses, increasing the price of their products/services isn鈥檛 an option to cover increases in supply chain costs. Instead staff will bear the brunt of any cost rise as 68% expect wage/recruitment freezes and 61% plan job cuts.

UK businesses are looking to the government for supply chain recommendations, but they are torn over the advantages and disadvantages of deglobalisation:

    • 60% of businesses want increased government collaboration with industry
    • Over half said the government should monitor the UK’s supply chain itself and invest where necessary (56%) and there is demand for increased industrial policy and trade policy (54%)
    • The majority (72%) of UK businesses think deglobalising the UK鈥檚 supply chains would be disastrous to economic growth but over half (56%) plan to prioritise UK-based supply chain solutions.

Michiel Verhoeven, Managing Director 51风流UK & Ireland, says: 鈥淭he challenges and uncertainty facing so many UK businesses has meant that, for the majority of consumers, the days of wandering into a supermarket and seeing full shelves of produce now seem like a distant memory.

鈥淲here once supply chain management was mostly about cutting costs, businesses are faced with the challenge of staying ahead of consumer demand, while improving resilience, cutting carbon emissions, reducing staff churn and keeping costs down. Years of political, social and economic uncertainty, on top of a global pandemic, have exacerbated challenges with the UK鈥檚 current supply chain models. Whatever future external factors disrupt the movement of goods/ services, our on-demand consumer culture is only going to increase. Overnight shipping is considered late, with hourly tracking updates expected. A novel approach is needed to meet this demand.鈥

Global logistics, consulting and manufacturing organisation, Unipart Group, recently announced a deepened partnership with SAP to deliver supply chain resilience and bring to life its extensive expertise in forecasting, Machine Learning, sensors and .

Commenting on the report findings, Unipart Logistics Managing Director, Ian Truesdale, said: 鈥淎lthough deglobalisation and other structural changes to supply chains like re-shoring may help UK economic growth, the changes and hence opportunities are more complex. We are seeing that growth can be increased further by developing a much more sophisticated approach to understanding patterns of demand and the impact of those changes along the supply chain to manage risks and prevent shortages.

鈥淚t鈥檚 why we are re-engineering our processes and streamlining our data to focus on process design and governance, operational execution and data & analytics. In doing so we, aim to have the ability to forecast, optimise and simulate supply chains to provide greater agility and resilience,” he added.

Elsewhere, findings from the study show that UK businesses are exploring various other avenues to improve their supply chains, in particular adopting new technology and implementing new contingency measures:

    • 70% plan to adopt new technology to help overcome challenges in the next 1-2 years
    • 51% plan to find new environmentally friendly supply chain solutions

Michiel concludes: 鈥淚t is exciting to see so many organisations realising the importance of investing in advancing technologies to innovate and are planning to adopt new sustainable supply chain solutions. Resilient supply chains must be sustainable, not only in terms of the environment, but sustainable against developments in technology and infrastructure in the UK and abroad. For decades, supply chain management has focussed on cost 鈥 where keeping them lean and fast has been the priority. This is different from being agile and resilient. With the end of 鈥榡ust in time鈥 models, businesses have to start putting the same expectations on their supply chain as they do on their wider business, structuring themselves to be 鈥榡ust in case鈥, so that when disaster occurs, they can adapt. Those who don鈥檛 make this change are in for a very tough 18 months.鈥

The post 51风流Extends Support For Social Enterprise And Diverse Suppliers With Global 5&5 by 鈥25 Initiative appeared first on 51风流UK News Center.

    ]]>
A mere 5% of new income from global growth reaches 60% of the world鈥檚 poorest. With the Covid-19 pandemic only exacerbating this dire state of affairs, 51风流is determined to drive change through social procurement 鈥 a powerful lever to deliver immediate impact.

51风流has announced that it will be directing 5% of addressable procurement spend to social enterprises and to diverse suppliers by 2025.听This initiative, named听5&5 by 鈥25,听invites organisations around the world to join 51风流in buying more goods and services from purposeful suppliers.

But what is a social enterprise? Social enterprises are businesses culturally and operationally focused on changing the world. They are founded and governed on the basis of a clear social or environmental mission; they reinvest the majority of their profit back into this mission; and they are majority controlled solely in the interest of this mission.

A diverse supplier is a business that is at least 51% owned and operated by an individual or group that is part of a traditionally underrepresented or underserved demographic; such as women-owned, minority-owned and indigenous-owned businesses, among others.

51风流Executive Board member for Customer Success and Global Buy Social Ambassador for Social Enterprise UK – Adaire Fox-Martin – announced the 5 & 5 by 鈥25 initiative, emphasising that directing even just a small fraction of corporation spend to certified social enterprises and diverse businesses will help them tackle some of the world鈥檚 most pressing social and environmental problems.

鈥淓very company in every industry needs to procure,鈥 Fox-Martin said. 鈥淲e all need soap in our washrooms, landscaping for our offices, food and drink in our cafeterias, marketing services and office supplies. These and many more are all products and services provided by social enterprises and diverse businesses. This is money we are spending anyway. Why not spend it with suppliers who are delivering social impact as well?鈥

Change Please uses the profits from its coffee to train people experiencing homelessness to be baristas and give them a Living Wage paying job.

51风流UK has already directed over 拢750,000 of its addressable procurement spend to social enterprises in the UK, so we鈥檙e already halfway towards meeting this goal. Social enterprises are worth around and contribute 拢60 billion to the UK economy (three times larger than the agricultural sector). 5 & 5 by听鈥25 is an initiative that will enable 51风流UK to extend its existing partnerships with meaningful organisations, as well as explore the possibility to direct further procurement spend to social enterprises and diverse suppliers.

At present, 51风流UK has onboarded a variety of social enterprise vendors such as , and for office refreshments, for office stationery, for pest control and and for corporate and employee gifts.

鈥淭his commitment from 51风流will no doubt give social enterprises around the world a huge boost, helping us all drive more positive social impact within our local communities,鈥 said Cemal Ezel, Founder of Change Please CIC, an award-winning coffee company that is supporting people out of homelessness through Life Changing Coffee.

Change Please provides training, employment paying the Living Wage and support with housing, finances and therapy to help people experiencing homelessness move forward. 100% of its profits go towards ending homelessness. 鈥淲e have built a solid relationship with 51风流and if we can leverage more platforms like Ariba Network that can support us with our procurement and our sales, we can reach an audience we wouldn鈥檛 normally be able to reach. Then fundamentally it鈥檚 going to help us to save money and have more impact in our day-to-day,鈥 added Ezel.

Social Supermarket is changing how people shop online, by making it easy to find and buy products with a positive social impact.

鈥淭he pledge from 51风流to grow its procurement听spend with social enterprises recognises the value this sector can add to business as well as the positive social value each social听enterprise听creates,鈥 said Jamie Palmer, Founder of Social Supermarket, the largest online marketplace for social enterprise products in the UK.

Social Supermarket was created to connect every-day consumers with social enterprises who sell high quality products that tackle important social and environmental challenges.
