The programme delivered the seamless transition from a complex, 20-year-old legacy ECC system to 51风流Cloud ERP, Private Edition, hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – completed on time and on budget.

This major transformation is a cornerstone of Amey鈥檚 strategy to modernise its 51风流landscape and build a more agile, data-driven, and intelligent enterprise. By adopting 51风流S/4HANA, Amey has laid the foundation for a cloud-first, future-ready technology environment that improves efficiency across finance, procurement, and supply chain operations, while unlocking the benefits of AI-powered business processes.

The transformation arrives at a critical time, as Amey continues to deliver essential infrastructure services across the UK – including transportation networks, utilities, and public services. With 51风流S/4HANA at its core, Amey can optimise resource planning, enhance project execution, and harness data-driven insights to support sustainable, cost-effective service delivery.

Partnering for Success

Amey selected NTT DATA Business Solutions for its proven track record in 51风流transformations and its ability to deliver large-scale projects with minimal disruption. Using its specialised 51风流S/4HANA Technical Conversion Centre of Excellence, NTT DATA employed a factory-driven methodology built on automation, standardisation, and pre-configured solutions. This approach reduced both cost and complexity, accelerating Amey鈥檚 journey to the cloud and ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.

De-risking with Advanced Testing

To further reduce risk, Amey also deployed Tricentis test automation tools alongside the migration. This advanced testing framework validated critical processes at speed, ensuring that the new S/4HANA environment met stringent performance and security requirements while maintaining business continuity throughout the transition.

Delivering Immediate Value

Beyond the technical migration, Amey鈥檚 programme also delivered immediate business improvements. A data cleaning initiative removed more than 100 redundant company codes using Natuvion solutions, resulting in a leaner, more cost-efficient S/4HANA environment. This not only improved system performance but also lowered ongoing infrastructure costs.

Innovation was also central to the programme. Amey and NTT DATA Business Solutions successfully piloted the use of Generative AI to support safer highways, demonstrating how the new 51风流platform can serve as a foundation for digital innovation as well as operational excellence.

Since its听launch in September 2023, Joule has quickly become pervasive across the 51风流portfolio, streamlining operations, improving decision-making, and boosting efficiency across various business functions. Today, Joule is already embedded in HR, finance, ERP, sales, services, marketing, and commerce applications, transforming how employees, managers, accountants, field personnel, and front-office professionals work. By the end of this year, 80% of the most frequently performed transactions across 51风流business applications will be fully automated with Joule.

This will enable consumers to find products faster and improve their overall shopping experience.

Integration with ABAP Cloud will revolutionize the work of the 5 million-strong ABAP developer community, accelerating the development of extensions that interact with 51风流S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, 51风流S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, and 51风流BTP, ABAP environment. Trained on over 250 million lines of ABAP code, Joule will be able to outperform industry-leading general-purpose code assistants. Sustainability Hero 鈥 Spirit Energy Ltd

The energy industry is inherently hazardous and requires robust safety management. Ex/ATEX inspections, conducted in potentially explosive environments, are at the heart of this challenge. By working with SAP, Spirit Energy implemented one single end-to-end holistic solution for its Ex/ATEX inspections.

The new solution has automated several critical processes, minimising the risk of human error. It has streamlined the cumbersome nine step Ex/ATEX inspection process into four simple steps. These improvements have contributed towards regulatory compliance and improved health and safety of staff, paving the way for industry-wide change.

Industry Leader 鈥 Haleon

Haleon needed to consolidate and transform all Operational Transfer Pricing (OTP) processes into a single process.

51风流Profitability and Performance Management Cloud was implemented for OTP cycles for 90 entities which provided higher performance, full integration with internal systems and improved user experience. This eliminated the need for manual work by automating key aspects of the process. 听This deployment has redefined how Haleon operates its new transfer pricing cycle and is being discussed at board level amongst the Healthcare sector.

Transformation Titan 鈥 Accenture

Accenture has grown exponentially which directly impacts its financial business. Making timely and informed decisions, mitigating financial risks, and optimising financial operational support are key challenges for its finance business users.

Accenture developed an Interactive Finance Narrative Generator solution that harnesses 51风流solutions, human collaboration, and AI technology. This enables Accenture to focus on analysing and identifying key insights from reports, accelerating key financial close milestones and improving timeliness, accuracy and productivity.

Business Innovator 鈥 Touchlight Genetics

After 16 years as a manufacturing and R&D organisation, Touchlight developed a commercial platform which revolutionised the supply of synthetic DNA. It required an ERP solution to enable expansion to meet global demand. The system needed to adhere to the good manufacturing practice capabilities, validation, and traceability requirements of pharmaceutical regulatory bodies.

Touchlight implemented 51风流S/4HANA Cloud to undergo a full digital transformation to replace all non-integrated applications and provide real time visibility. This sets the foundation for Touchlight to become an intelligent enterprise.

Experience Wizard 鈥 Vodafone Group

Vodafone has revamped its operations to become the best-in-class Telco for Europe and Africa and Europe鈥檚 leading platform for business. To achieve this, it needed to transform its learning, talent, leadership, and skills-resourcing. It launched a new strategy and organisation, the Vodafone Learning Company, and Grow with Vodafone.

As part of its Grow with Vodafone project, Vodafone implemented 51风流SuccessFactors fully integrated talent suite. This solution has positively impacted employee loyalty, advocacy, and talent progression. Inchcape needed to modernise its global IT landscape. It had high-growth targets and external supply chain challenges to deal with.

Using RISE with SAP, Inchcape standardised its IT landscape, creating a technology foundation that supports its continued rapid growth. Since implementing RISE, Inchcape has improved efficiency and collaboration, leading to a better employee experience, and greater compliance.

For banks today, unlocking business potential requires three pre-requisites: an integrated landscape, transformational focus to fuel architectural innovation, and a data driven approach to perform better. Without these three fundamentals in place, organisations will continue to use siloed systems and struggle to reach their financial, business and operational potential.

The banking sector has faced ongoing disruptions for a while 鈥 from new fintech players in the ecosystem, new regulatory changes, margin erosion and new ways of working, to new digital channels and rising expectations around customer experience. It鈥檚 easy to lose sight of how to unlock potential when the competitive sand keeps sifting under your feet. And it鈥檚 even harder to innovate without having the fundamentals in place.

But it鈥檚 now becoming urgent. Industry disruption shows no signs of slowing, and growing dissatisfaction from customers is on the rise with just one in five UK customers saying they鈥檙e satisfied with the support they receive from their bank. Over half of UK SMEs are reassessing their bank鈥檚 suitability, according to new . There are also significant differences around the gender and generation of customers and turnover of companies that are shaping banking behaviour and preferences.

It’s time for banks to hit the reset button 鈥 and fast. While the disruptive gap is widening between traditional and digital banks, customer tolerance for over standardised, impersonalised products is wearing thin 鈥 all of which tie back to outdated technology architectures. It鈥檚 not just a question of brand reputation, but also loss of market share and legacy maintenance costs and restrictions. This isn鈥檛 just a functionality fix. It鈥檚 a platform rethink.
