New 51风流report shows UK businesses prioritise AI investment and adoption for growth; yet challenges with digital skills, talent and data holds back progress

4 February – London, UK: 51风流today launches its Supercharging Growth with AI in the UK – a Pathway for High-Growth Businesses report, which considers the scale-up opportunities and challenges facing UK businesses in 2025.

Published as the UK accelerates efforts to position itself as a hub for global innovation and enterprise growth, SAP鈥檚 report shows that as many as 8-in-10 businesses are prioritising growth over improving customer experiences. In addition, over a third (37%) have suggested that they will be turning to technology to help them manage their spending and increase automation across their businesses.

Spotlighting the value of AI

AI is a recurring theme throughout SAP鈥檚 report as UK high-growth businesses indicate that it is critical to long-term growth, with data highlighting:

路 92% rank the adoption of standard AI applications as a high or medium priority in the next 12 months

路 A similar number (91%) are actively exploring the use of emerging applications like generative AI

路 39% are prioritising AI-led business automation this year

路 1-in-2 are actively investing in advanced analytics to refine their decision-making capabilities

The UK鈥檚 high-growth organisations have also highlighted AI鈥檚 role in addressing macro-barriers to growth, like supply chain issues. As many as 91% see closing supply chain gaps as a pressing priority and 39% rank supply chain disruptions as one of the top three business challenges in 2025. To that end, more than 1-in-3 (37%) are turning to AI and automation to help them weather economic uncertainty and build supply chain resilience.

“AI is revolutionising the renewable energy sector, driving smarter decisions and operational efficiency to support growth and resilience,” said Simon Duckett, Chief Digital Officer at Sonnedix, a global renewable energy producer and 51风流customer. “In a rapidly evolving market, AI’s predictive models and advanced analytics help us strengthen our supply chain, adapt to economic uncertainty, and seize new opportunities. By combining cutting-edge technology with human innovation, AI ensures we remain agile and prepared to scale and adapt to change sustainably.鈥

Digital immaturity remains a barrier to growth

But digital immaturity, in terms of talent, data and infrastructure readiness, continues to hold back successful AI implementation and opportunities for growth.

SAP鈥檚 report shows that legacy technology was cited by 27% of UK high-growth organisations as a key barrier to scale, underscoring the difficulty of integrating cutting-edge solutions into outdated systems. Talent gaps further amplify the problem, with more than one third (34%) struggling to attract and retain professionals with the expertise needed to harness AI effectively. That鈥檚 why 40% now prioritise skills development as a cornerstone of their growth strategy.

Data continues to be highlighted as a key growth obstacle. As many as 1-in-3 indicate that insufficient datasets are hindering AI model training, while 34% point to poor data and limited planning tools as significant barriers to progress.

“Addressing barriers to growth, like digital immaturity, must be a priority for the UK鈥檚 high-growth organisations if they wish to reach their potential,鈥 said Wesley Doyle, Head of New Business, Corporate, 51风流UKI. 鈥淎s our report shows, many have identified AI as the key that unlocks business agility, resilience and efficiency, and enables innovation at scale. As we look ahead to 2025 and beyond, organisations that make bold moves in AI will position themselves to flourish in today鈥檚 data-driven economy and lead the way in shaping the UK鈥檚 growth agenda.”

The post What’s the Big Buzz about the External Workforce? appeared first on 51风流UK News Center.

]]>
One of the many characteristics of a superorganism, like a bee, is its innate omniscience and total visibility over what is happening in its colony at all times. Businesses, like yours, should seek ways to replicate such visibility over the entire workforce.

The importance of every role

The honey bee is one of nature’s most successful superorganisms. The nature of a superorganism means that they work in perfect synergy at all times.

There are three roles of a bee in the hive:

1. The queen

2. The worker

3. The drone

Each role assumes various, equally crucial responsibilities. Without the support of the drones and the workers, the queen bee is unable to establish new colonies. No single role can survive without the support of the entire colony.

Collective Intelligence

This is where the phenomenon of the听Hive Mind听comes in. Bees avoid a total collapse of operations through a biological programming that provides them with total visibility – constantly – of what is happening in the hive. This collective intelligence is referred to as the hive mind. I will return to this phenomenon shortly.

The Rise of the External Workforce

Through speaking to many of our customers, it is evident that businesses often have a system in place to manage their internal workforce with a close eye. However, an average of 42% of the workforce is actually external to the main business and is consequently not being managed through the usual HR systems and processes. Similarly to a network of superorganisms, the importance of each role should not be underestimated, whether internal or external to your business.

We have all seen how unprecedented global events have highlighted the importance of agility in business. The ebbs and flows of supply and demand in light of such disruption mean easy and efficient access to temporary skilled workers is more important than ever before.

The Artificial Hive Mind

Unfortunately, unlike bees, we do not have an innate biological computer to determine who is doing what, and when. What we can have in its place, however, is a Vendor Management System like . A Vendor Management System can provide us with a computerised Hive Mind and equip us with that superorganism level of visibility and granularity.

Who, what, where, and when?

As I mentioned earlier, despite the undeniable importance of having control over the external workforce, most customers with whom we speak have blind spots in their data – or worse – absolutely no solid source of data whatsoever. By identifying these blind spots, and keeping tabs on听whois doing听what,听wherethey are doing it and听when听it was done, businesses are able to take advantage of the following opportunities:

 • Financial visibility 鈥 simply fit the external workforce category into the wider jigsaw of your total spend
 • Tracking assets 鈥 making sure costly assets are returned when a worker is off-boarded to avoid leakage of this capital from your business
 • Market rates 鈥 ensure you are paying in line with the market rate for a particular skill set
 • Overtime costs 鈥 identify where a high amount of your spend is going on workers working overtime and validate if this can be remedied
 • Discount capture 鈥 do you have big services contracts that could benefit from negotiation?
 • Onboarding and offboarding happens a lot more frequently with external workers, automating this allows efficiency and time savings on this process
 • Certifications 鈥 be sure you are vetting and hiring workers who have all necessary qualifications for the role and keep a paper trail of this for compliance audits

In summary, your External Workforce is a glaringly obvious first port of call if you’re looking for ways to improve your bottom line and drive compliance. Make sure it doesn’t go overlooked.

The post Leveraging The Cloud To Drive Transformation In The Heart Of Your Business appeared first on 51风流UK News Center.

]]>
In 2022 cloud computing, in its many guises, continues to enjoy double digit growth as organisations recognise that it offers much more than the basic ability to 鈥渞un your business systems on someone else鈥檚 computer鈥.听 Nowhere is this more evident than in those incumbent companies that are leading the charge when it comes to digital transformation. And nowhere is this more important than with the mission-critical ERP systems that underpin every company鈥檚 core business processes.

How does cloud computing translate into better business transformation in the heart of your enterprise?

Across the board, CEOs are on the hunt for better business performance. They know that in a VUCA world yesterday鈥檚 performance is a distant memory and tomorrow鈥檚 success is never guaranteed. They must grow – profitably and sustainably while building a culture, organisation, and systems that foster flawless execution, innovation, agility, and resilience. In these inflationary times they must balance growth against margin protection and liquidity management. They must do all of this through a strategic blend of differentiated customer experiences, talent deployment, financial performance, supply chain, and ecosystem design and innovative products and services. This is the essence of business transformation – it鈥檚 not new, but it is getting more complex, more urgent, and more dynamic. And leaders know this rests on exploiting data with digital technologies which can be delivered fast and at scale via the cloud.

So, what if any, is the connection between ERP and cloud computing?

To do all the above tasks, you need a robust digital core and powerful digital technologies to fuel data driven insights and decision making. You need highly automated, yet flexible business processes to deliver outcomes and productivity. And you need an information-empowered workforce able to do what humans do best – strategy, relationships and solving complex problems. And by the way those processes and the people who work with them, extend beyond the boundaries of your organisation – so you need a platform that enables secure process and people collaboration across your ecosystem.

This is the world of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) – translating the possibilities and potentials of a myriad technologies into business capabilities that the CEO needs for their strategy to succeed.听Historically CIOs have done this in their on-premise data centres – buying, assembling, and running all the different elements of the technology 鈥渟tack鈥 needed to run their businesses with ERP systems as the foundation. And then customising, augmenting, and integrating those monolithic ERPs to suit the way 鈥渂usiness gets done here鈥. It鈥檚 been a complex and arduous business, even with the help of systems integrators. It takes time, which businesses don鈥檛 have, and talent which is hard to come by. And in many cases, those old approaches to customisation have cut organisations off from the innovations that their vendors deliver.

Legacy ERP systems, constrained by the limitations of yesterday鈥檚 technologies, are no longer fit for purpose and struggle to keep up with the pace of innovation demanded. Simply lifting and shifting them to the cloud will not deliver the step changes in required business performance.

It is now time to modernise and replace those old ERP systems with a simple, future-ready business foundation. A modern ERP with comprehensive and powerful business processes, infused with AI and machine learning for greater productivity. An ERP offering an engaging consumer-grade user experience. An ERP that enables business model innovation and comes with embedded analytics and predictive capabilities to steer the organisation in an agile manner. This is the essence of . In mid-2022 some twenty thousand customers have chosen 51风流S/4HANA and 72% of those are live and reporting significant and wide-ranging business benefits.

RISE with 51风流鈥 the answer to crucial questions

RISE with 51风流answers a couple of key questions. How do we help companies reap the benefits of 51风流S/4HANA and the advantages of cloud? How do we do this whilst also recognising that ERP does not live in a vacuum and each company鈥檚 situation is different?

To do all this, RISE with 51风流brings together, in a single, subscription-based contract (built for each customer鈥檚 unique journey) relevant 51风流software including 51风流S/4HANA (as a service), cloud infrastructure, tools and accelerators and 51风流technical services.

While each RISE with 51风流contract is customer-specific, common to all of them is that 51风流takes accountability for providing all these elements as a service with a 99.7% SLA. This frees customers up to focus on applying this 51风流solution to their business to achieve their transformational objectives.

RISE with 51风流is now 18 months old with a growing cohort of projects and live customers 鈥 hear from some of them.

SAP鈥檚 customers are embracing RISE with 51风流as the solution to the challenges of moving to 51风流S/4HANA in the cloud. It enables them to reduce risks and costs and deliver ongoing business transformation, process optimisations and digital innovations.

The videos below will give you additional insights into why companies have elected to go with RISE with SAP, and will help you plan your own journey to a better future for your business.

is Chief Sales & Marketing Director of , an 51风流Gold Partner headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark with 11 local country operations in EMEA including London, UK. 听The Gavdi Group delivers award-winning 51风流workforce management solutions built around human experience management (HXM) and has been successfully operating for 22 years.

Andy talked to us about his career in technology, Gavdi鈥檚 company culture and how they are helping their customers innovate. He also offered some advice for mid-market organizations looking to transform their HXM.

51风流UKI: Tell us a little about yourself, Andy.

I live Hampshire, close to Winchester, with my wife, three teenage boys and our two black Labradors. Two of my boys have just finished their A-Levels and GCSEs respectively and we are now waiting for the results.

In lockdown, I discovered a keen interest in gardening and have turned my garden from a wilderness into a nice place to sit and enjoy a barbecue. Most of our family life is dominated by sports, whether that鈥檚 playing (I still play tennis) or ferrying my boys to various events at school and local rugby clubs.

51风流UKI: How did you get into technology as a career?

I was working in recruitment in the early to late nineties and decided in 1997 that this 鈥榠nternet thingy鈥 was really interesting, especially how it could be applied to what I did. I then made a conscious move into the 鈥楨-recruitment鈥 space. I spent about two years in E-recruitment, mainly consulting organizations on how it would benefit them. 51风流approached me to assess their new 51风流E-recruiting system, which was part of the 51风流HCM solution. As part of that contract, 51风流then introduced me to Pecaso, an 51风流partner in the UK and I started working for them and, as they say, the rest is history.

51风流UKI: How did you come to join Gavdi?

I was working for one of the Top Four consultancies which was great, but I generally prefer working with smaller boutique specialist firms as it suits me better. In 2012, just at the time 51风流acquired SuccessFactors, I met the CEO of the Gavdi Group, S酶ren Koppelhus in a chance meeting in 51风流UK. We had a chat and he asked if I would be interested in running their UK business. I was really impressed with their whole work ethic, focused on customers, I thought 鈥榯hat’s a company I want to work for鈥. Ten years later, I鈥檓 still here and both S酶ren and I are 鈥榮till in the trenches鈥.

51风流UKI:
What are Gavdi鈥檚 core values and personality?

Valuing people and relationships is at the core of everything we do. That encompasses relationships with our colleagues, our clients, and with partners like SAP. All these relationships need to be maintained and improved through good communication, transparency and honesty. It has to be a Win-Win or relationships risk breaking down.

Honesty and transparency are at the heart of our culture, especially when it comes to engaging with customers. We partner, and I really do mean partner, with customers over a long period of time. We partner with customers as equals, as colleagues, all working to the same ends and goals. Trust is essential to our long-term relationship. Too often, Systems Integrators focus only on the Go Live. We don鈥檛 just focus on the Go Live, we are looking at the entire journey, and are always looking to improve things and help customers get more out of their 51风流systems. We are committed to being their long-term digital transformation partner. It鈥檚 essential that they can trust us to always recommend solutions that are right for them.

Innovation is also a core value at Gavdi. After delivering over 500 successful 51风流SuccessFactors projects we have learned that there are certain things that almost every client asks for. Taking these common requirements into account, we developed our own packaged solutions using 51风流SuccessFactors technology. We offer these to our customers as which give them a faster implementation and a quicker 鈥榯ime-to-value鈥. This not only saves time and money, it also enables our customers to innovate and improve their businesses using industry-accepted best practices.

Our business is evolving, not just in the UK and Ireland but also across our EMEA-based business. We continue to develop our 51风流Qualified Partner-Packaged Solutions along with our own product line, PXMSOFT, to help customers become more efficient. One example is a service line we offer called , which is mainly aimed at SMEs. It鈥檚 based on 51风流SuccessFactors as a platform with our packaged solutions at its heart. It enables smaller businesses to get into the Cloud with a Tier 1 product like SuccessFactors at a very reasonable cost. We are so confident of this that we publish the pricing for these solutions openly on our website. Through our PXMSOFT, we have also extended SuccessFactors鈥 capabilities to enable organizations to keep up-to-date with changes in global data protection regulations and data protection acts, ensuring much-needed compliance in an ever-increasingly regulated world.

In recent years, we鈥檝e also seen real innovations in terms of AI helping to automate certain transactional HR processes. We鈥檝e been applying AI to our recruitment solutions, especially for the mobile environment, which helps organizations to transact processes faster. As part of our PXMSOFT suite, we offer which goes onto SuccessFactors and makes it easier for managers in a retail environment to recruit via their mobile devices where they have no, or , access to PCs or Laptops.

We make it easier for companies to buy, use and make the most of 51风流SuccessFactors, streamlining the entire process. Candidates also benefit from a faster recruitment process, which means they are more likely to join. Candidate Experience Management, CXM, is our next adventure so watch this space!

51风流UKI: Is there a particular project you鈥檙e proud of?

It鈥檚 hard to pick just one, but the work we did with the renowned Sports Retailer, , encapsulates everything that we try to do as an 51风流partner. Not just in terms of the solutions we provide but also because of the excellent collaboration between SAP, ourselves, and the customer.

We went live with 51风流SuccessFactors Employee Central, Recruitment and Onboarding, 51风流Payroll, and a third-party time and attendance solution within an eight-month period from project kickoff using our Gavdi Packaged Solutions. That is very impressive for an organization of approximately 1,300 people. The collaboration between our two organizations, with a total commitment to quality, ensured we worked together for the same goal. It鈥檚 all about teamwork at the end.

We find it really rewarding to help our customers transform their HR and payroll processes so they are more effective and easier to manage. Equally important is that we also save them time and reduce their overall costs using best practices.

Decathlon is really happy with our work as witnessed recently at the 51风流UKI HXM summit which they presented at. That鈥檚 what I鈥檓 most proud of – seeing our customers genuinely happy and satisfied after working with us because they鈥檝e reached their goals and enjoyed the process along the way.

51风流UKI: What is Gavdi鈥檚 vision for the next few years?

We鈥檙e constantly trying to help our existing customers by demonstrating new product and service lines that might help them. We are committed to continual innovation based on our customers鈥 changing needs. As I mentioned, AI is really important, and CXM is one of the areas we are developing now 鈥 which goes back to where I started my career, recruitment.

Gavdi is also growing as an organization. We鈥檝e been working mostly in Europe and the Middle East, but we want to become more global and plan to extend into the Americas and Asia Pacific to see if our customer-focused approach works there too. We believe it will.

51风流UKI: What one piece of advice can you give to midmarket organizations looking to transform their HXM?

There really is no single answer or 鈥榤agic bullet鈥. Everything good requires hard work and good organization. I agree with Thomas Edison 鈥 it鈥檚 one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.

However, what I would say to a customer is that there are lots of excellent partners within the 51风流ecosystem who can help you to understand, learn and help you transform. It鈥檚 important to find one that complements your own organizational culture and structure so you can work really well together.

A good HXM technology partner will understand your business and ensure you鈥檙e buying and implementing solutions that will provide tangible business benefits. Good partners have your best interests at heart and a win-win mentality and culture. It has to be that way to be mutually beneficial. I personally have always found that customers only look at the costs of something when they don鈥檛 see its value. It鈥檚 important that we emphasize the value of what we are doing in relation to reduction in costs (though doing things more effectively) and the Return on Investment (by reducing actual costs).

You have spoken! We’re excited to announce that we are officially named as a 2022 UK鈥檚 Best Workplaces™ for Women!

SAP听has ranked听9th听in the super large size听category and is among 263 UK-based听organisations recognised as a Best Workplace for Women™ by Great Place to Work UK庐.

Our position on this prestigious list is driven by our annual employee engagement survey. The results are based on what women across all 263 organisations, including SAP, have anonymously reported to Great Place to Work UK庐. about their workplace experience and how well represented they are in the workforce and management.

As an organisation, we commit to ensuring employees are able to reach their full potential, no matter who they are or what they do. There is always work to be done 鈥 but only by first identifying the gaps in your experiences can we truly take action to close them, which is why analysing employee experience and benchmarking ourselves against other organisations is important.

Thank you to everyone across the organisation who engaged with the survey and who help us every day to ensure that people aren鈥檛 discriminated against, that we place positive value on our differences, that we create fair access and advancement for all, and continue to foster a sense of value and empowerment for all employees.

We are very proud to support you all and thank you for being part of such a tremendous team! If you have any questions at all about the recognition, please don鈥檛 hesitate to get in touch.

is General Manager of , an 51风流 headquartered in London, UK, that specialises in source-to-pay processes and technologies. Excelerateds2p won the 51风流UKI Pinnacle Award in 2019 and was the 51风流ANZ ISM (APAC region) Intelligent Spend Partner of the Year for 2020 and 2021.

Paul talked to us about his career in technology, trends in the mid-market, excelerateds2p鈥檚 company culture and vision, how the business is transforming its customers鈥 spend management.

51风流UKI: Tell us a little about yourself, Paul.

I live in Liverpool, in North-West England, with my wife, who runs her own accountancy business for SMEs, and our two kids. We鈥檙e a sporty family so I鈥檓 often watching matches: my son plays football at elite academy level and my daughter is on the school netball team.

During the first lockdown I bought a bike which I use most mornings. I鈥檝e done over 12,000 miles so far, which is the equivalent of cycling the equatorial diameter of earth one-and-a-half times.

51风流UKI: Give us a brief overview of your career.

I spent the first part of my career as a Business Process Consultant at KPMG, where I built a technology practice. I was focusing on using technology to enable innovation and to automate business processes.

After ten years at KPMG, I joined excelerateds2p when the company was around five years old. The co-founders had created a small, innovative company and had really ambitious growth plans. The opportunity to get in at that point and help build the organization to the next level was too good to miss.

51风流UKI: What are ExceleratedS2P鈥檚 core values and personality?

We’re a small but beautifully formed Source-to-Pay organisation with innovation at the heart of everything we do. We’re constantly trying to innovate, either in the way we do things, by creating our own products, or in how we use 51风流technologies.

When I first joined the organization, most of our revenue was from services. We鈥檝e now shifted 20% of our revenue into recurring SaaS revenue with our 3-year business plan aiming for 50%. A large part of that move was down to the employee innovation forum we created a few years ago. Anyone in the company can bring ideas, business problems or customer pain points to the forum and we鈥檝e built 12 products as a result.

We鈥檙e now doing something similar with SAP. The presales team brings us pain points, which we solve by creating apps for the 51风流App Store which we can turn around in a matter of weeks, thanks to the . We build all our products on 51风流BTP and have been using the platform for many years, before it was known as 51风流BTP. We鈥檙e true pioneers in this area. We now advise and help our clients to use 51风流BTP for their own app development. It’s a fantastic platform with a lot of power and capabilities.

Empowering people is another key value for us. Our approach is always people first, and technology second. I’m proud of creating a completely flat organisation: no levels, no job titles, just a philosophy of empowering everybody in the company to do what needs to be done.听 It鈥檚 a hugely rewarding and enjoyable environment to work in.

51风流UKI: What is excelerateds2p鈥檚 vision for the next few years?

Our vision for the next three years includes growing and scaling our business in the US.

We鈥檙e also strategically moving into the space. We鈥檝e just signed our first 51风流S/4HANA customer, , a mid-market telecoms company that鈥檚 a big supplier to British Telecom. Over a ten-year period, MJ Quinn has increased their turnover from 拢10 million to 拢200 million, and has outgrown their existing ERP and processes. We’re excited to be bringing them into the 21st Century with 51风流S/4HANA Public Cloud.

51风流UKI: Which recent project are you especially proud of?

is a pharmaceutical company that manufactures products in Japan and distributes them across Europe. They have lots of individual country-based affiliates, all using different processes which were mainly manual, and with different regulatory requirements.

The CFO came to us with a vision of finance and procurement transformation, and we helped them to bring in a common way of working which has freed them for more value-added work. We underpinned both an ERP solution, , and then an 51风流Ariba solution so they can manage their third-party spend and cost base in a more efficient way.

They were running manual reports off Excel, which didn鈥檛 leave much time for interpreting the data. With much of that now automated, their finance business partners can focus on making strategic decisions using 鈥榦ne source of truth鈥 data across the business.

Otsuka was keen to establish a technology baseline that will scale as the company continues to grow. We provided this, but also made sure the organisation achieved immediate benefits, such as a 10% decrease in the cost of processing purchase orders and invoices. We always deploy systems in an iterative and phased way so our customers get value from it right away.

We’re also starting to look at product extensions and how we can use some of our innovative applications to solve their main regulatory pain points. For example, our incorporates two-factor authentication and Public/Private Key encryption technology to securely capture and store sensitive data from suppliers. It sits within the 51风流Cloud Platform, in between 51风流Ariba and the ERP and fully integrates with 51风流Ariba Supplier Lifecycle Management (SLP) for supplier onboarding and management.

51风流UKI: What technology trends are you noticing in the mid-market?

We mostly work with two types of clients in the mid-market. Those that have grown significantly in a short period of time and outgrown their original technology and processes. They find themselves in a position whereby they must invest to automate, drive efficiency, and prepare their organization for the next stage of growth.

Then you’ve got the companies that are just starting out. They want to get the right technology in place from the outset. These companies grow more efficiently, and with fewer overheads, because they鈥檝e got agile technology and processes to support them as they mature and expand.

In both cases, the investment that mid-market clients are making in ERP is not insignificant and they expect to see tangible benefits fast.听 That鈥檚 why we focus on driving speed-to-value and quick business outcomes.

51风流UKI: Do you have any advice for mid-market companies that are in the early stages of their digital transformation journey?

A common mistake I see companies making is adding technology in a piecemeal way. Over several years, they can spend a huge amount of money to fix isolated issues. By the time they get to a certain size, this patchwork approach is no longer workable. The solutions aren鈥檛 integrated, the systems don鈥檛 talk to each other and a lot of processes are still manual. With that in mind, my advice is to start with the end goal in mind. Don鈥檛 be afraid to invest in a technology roadmap that supports what you鈥檙e trying to do.

It鈥檚 also important to think about what the business looks like in its entirety, rather than viewing it as individual functional silos of manufacturing, finance, sales, HR etc. Instead, invest in technology that supports the organisation to function seamlessly as an integrated unit.
