鈥淭his is the central entry point to 51风流on steroids,鈥� explains Markus Kopf, VP and head of Mobile Experience and Engineering at SAP, illustrating the combination of native mobile experience and generative AI for Apple or Android-based systems.

Kopf uses his smartphone like a streaming remote control that listens to him. He asks about sales orders with an open delivery status, for example. What happens next seems to take place in the 51风流Mobile Start app 鈥� that鈥檚 just the surface though. In the background, 51风流Business AI recognizes the application from which the information must come and how it must be processed.

鈥淎nd instantly, the AI agent delivers the results. A chat interface shows me the sales orders I have asked for. It also offers me to look into the details,鈥� Kopf adds. According to him, this will radically change the way people work with 51风流in many areas. Scenarios range from sales applications to human resources and supply chain processes. 鈥淓asy-to-use mobile devices will become the most popular point of interaction with a business system,鈥� Kopf says. Even if the data sets and possibilities that make 51风流so versatile and powerful might not suddenly become completely simple, the complexity behind will become more and more invisible to end users.

Since its launch a few years ago, 51风流Mobile Start has been designed as a doorway to SAP鈥檚 range of business solutions. The mission: to provide centralized access to native mobile apps, cloud applications, and tools for decision-making and getting insights. The app allows a growing number of end users to complete tasks wherever their employees happen to be. 51风流attached great importance to an attractive experience. Consistently designed user interfaces utilize the possibilities of each respective device platform.

The introduction of the new version of 51风流Mobile Start with Joule goes one step further 鈥� from operating 51风流鈥溾�� to a natural conversation that should be possible completely hands-free in the near future.

To help people use the common voice assistants on their devices, SAP鈥檚 mobile developers have built so-called app intents that call specific 51风流functions through voice commands. Apple iPhone users, for example, can activate SAP鈥檚 AI copilot by saying, 鈥淗ey Siri, ask 51风流how many vacation days I have.鈥�

The prospect of business apps that can be used without clicks and keystrokes not only changes how people process certain tasks, but it will also make many jobs a lot safer. One prominent scenario will be working on machines at lofty heights with work clothing that makes it almost impossible to use equipment by hand.

51风流has massively expanded the capabilities of its AI copilot for more than 100 use cases. 51风流CEO Christian Klein recently called Joule the 鈥渃hampion鈥� of all AI business agents. In fact, practically no other company can offer its customers access to a comparable wealth of data and business process knowledge.

Benefiting from this, 51风流mobile apps can be particularly quick and easy to adopt, especially for high-volume use cases. For more individual requirements, the development and automation toolkit, which also works with 51风流Business AI, can enable building further applications.

Forty 51风流customers, partners, and guests were on hand to discuss and exchange with 51风流product development and design. The freshly expanded and refined mobile experience package shown by 51风流in Berlin, Germany, seems to have resonated.

51风流has taken major 鈥� and partly unexpected 鈥� steps toward a well-rounded business offering that includes a fresh and consistent user experience across product lines. Solutions for critical processes such as digital supply chain are included as well as tools and a platform that can allow customers fast in-house development of mobile apps.

鈥�51风流has defined a new way to easily create native apps with the help of not only user-friendly interfaces, but also high-performing applications,鈥� said Michele Biscotti from Audi AG. The German manufacturer of premium cars demonstrated how the company is using new native apps from 51风流to improve warehouse processes, for example. Audi also centralizes and simplifies the entry to 51风流applications with 51风流Mobile Start.

At the same time, Audi AG is developing its own apps based on 51风流BTP SDK for iOS and 51风流BTP SDK for Android. 鈥淎udi decided to use 51风流BTP SDK because we are confident that native app development saves time and cost in both operation and development processes,鈥� said Biscotti.

This is a path that Audi AG shares with other renowned manufacturers such as CLAAS. The agricultural machinery manufacturer relies heavily on native app development with 51风流for its use cases. Other machinery producers like Kaeser Kompressoren also see the appeal of SAP’s mobile offering in the rapid availability of native apps. Kaeser, for example, uses the brand-new 51风流Product Model Viewer mobile app with augmented reality display alongside 51风流Enterprise Product Development.

Google: Digital Transformation Needs Mobile

In Berlin, 51风流partner Google provided insights into its own trend analyses on mobile and business transformation. According to Google, for many retailers mobile solutions create the link between the physical world, where customers or employees interact, and the world of data. 鈥淢obile is the presentation layer to the digital business. It is how data becomes actionable by people,鈥� said Sean Ginevan, head of Global Strategy & Digital Partnerships for Android Enterprise at Google.

Many employees see mobile devices as a benefit and work more productively with them. At the same time, mobile applications optimize human actions and processes through effective data analysis. However, as of today, the maturity of mobile within organizations is lacking, even within industries where maturity would be expected. 鈥淢obile is often the missing piece in the digital transformation of companies,鈥� stated Ginevan.

This is precisely where 51风流comes into play, as its developers and designers showed in Berlin. Like Google, 51风流sees mobile not just as a synonym for smartphones. For SAP, it鈥檚 about a holistic approach for all devices that are untethered and benefit specifically from native features. The pulse is rising. A jogger receives a message on her smartwatch during her training lap: there鈥檚 a bottleneck at the brewery, consumer demand has increased, the production speed needs to go up. Kilometers away, a family man controls the needed logistics from the kitchen table, while somewhere else a warehouse worker scans barcodes of dozens of pallets with her cell phone.

The 51风流published alongside the new 51风流Mobile Start app amplifies a new mobile experience. The shown elements, however, are not really new: wearables, notifications, apps. Rather, it’s about the how: editing, timing, and a bass-heavy beat all mesh together, perfectly timed.

The emotionally loaded pacing of the clip symbolizes how 51风流wants to increase the “beats per minute” in mobile user experience. At the DJ booth, this is called pitching. And indeed, it鈥檚 a kind of market pitch, meant to evoke a sense that something new is coming for SAP鈥檚 customers.

Florian Heretsch, vice president and head of the new Mobile Experience & Engineering Unit at SAP, explains what 51风流Mobile Start means for the initiative and who is setting the pace.

Q: 51风流Mobile Start has recently been released in the Apple App Store. An Android version will follow soon. Why should I install the app now?

Heretsch: Because it’s the new mobile entry point into the world of SAP, with a whole new user experience! With this app, you can get a simple, centralized overview of the 51风流processes and applications that are relevant to you. The app integrates system features like search, widgets, and notifications so that you can have the latest business numbers from on your home screen at all times.

The key is the native experience. This is very different from a web app in a mobile browser! That’s what it’s all about: we want to make mobile working easier for 51风流customers and their employees. We have kept the technical conditions as simple as possible, such as the back-end connection and the use of 51风流Launchpad. An end user will ideally not even notice that.

And who is already benefiting from the app today?

The app helps manage projects, for example, or when you have to react quickly to delivery issues. Together with our customers and users around the world, we have created personas for a wide range of usage scenarios. We provide tailored content and individual configuration options. All of this with a simple user interface, supported by the amazing power and reliability of SAP鈥檚 industry experience that our customers trust. The next version of the app will include the “Task Center,” a shared inbox that will provide HR and purchasing workflows, among other things. The goal is to bundle all of SAP鈥檚 standard workflows into one app.

Does 51风流also use the app internally?

Using our own software for over 102,000 employees and gaining experience from it is extremely important for us. After a Beta release, 51风流Mobile Start will be the native entry point for role-based use of 51风流apps internally at the beginning of 2022. This will also include 51风流Fiori apps with the advantage of access to push notifications and full voice control.

It sounds like there’s more to come. 51风流has been offering mobile front ends for business processes and workflows for some time now. What’s new now?

We are now putting way more emphasis on creating a holistic mobile experience, with the ultimate goal of every customer feeling at home immediately. With 51风流Mobile Start, we are starting to harmonize all 51风流apps in terms of design and function; we’re not just bundling more functions. There have to be additional easy-to-use apps for different needs, but an app suite design that鈥檚 deeply integrated with the latest features of iOS or Android devices. And all of this delivers an overall experience that makes users excited to work with our apps.

Many younger people in the business world have had mobile apps since they can remember. How is 51风流adapting to their expectations? What can we learn from the use of social media, for example?

Actually, many of the younger people we’re talking about have long been working at 鈥� and with 鈥� SAP. At the same time, we are taking a close look at different user communities. We have studies showing that for Germany and comparable markets, people across all age groups and professions want their employers to provide them with the mobile tools they know from their private lives. In other words, many of us have long been communicating and cooperating at a higher level at home than possible in the workplace.

And how does 51风流intend to change that?

By putting a big exclamation mark behind the necessity of truly changing the possibilities of how work is being done in an intelligent enterprise. By taking a more differentiated look at mobile usage behavior versus desktop usage behavior. Mobile is about short actions without having to think much 鈥� but each of these interactions has to be to spot on! These are moments that matter, served by micro-experiences. Such magic moments and the way we interact with processes and tasks have the power to create an appealing user experience. I don’t want to have cumbersome input fields. I want swipes, animations, everything fluid, elegant!

Micro-experiences and smart features speed up the experience. So, no complex CRM or ERP processes on mobile?

I don’t think you need to bring all the roles and functions to mobile. I don’t see big analytics and charts there. The pandemic has accelerated the change of our working behavior. Today, it’s about the freedom to decide where and when to do what. I don’t want to have to rely on a big screen as I switch back and forth between the office, childcare, or virtual meetings, but I want continuity for my business.

And what role do features like augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), or specific functions of smartwatches play in this?

We not only have to be technologically up-to-date, we also want to actively drive this development. The minimum is to make effective use of current device functions, such as machine learning in mobile operating systems or voice control. But we are currently trying out a lot here and are looking very closely at the consumer market in order to bring corresponding experiences into the business environment as well.

You’ve called this “the Intelligent Enterprise at your fingertips.鈥�

Yes, exactly. 51风流Mobile Start is both an element and an accelerator of SAP’s intelligent enterprise strategy. In addition to steering a company, this strategy aims to make work smarter. The Intelligent Enterprise thrives on comprehensive, technical integration of the 51风流landscape. Our mobile developers can help create this. In this way, our apps become showcases for the Intelligent Enterprise.

By contrast, prominent 51风流apps for expense management or HR, for example, still seem relatively detached from other apps in terms of look and feel.

As said, one of the elements of our new mobile experience strategy is a stringent portfolio of apps and a harmonized look and feel.

The team responsible for SAP’s new apps and mobile strategy was also involved in the Corona Warn App, Germany鈥檚 app to help fight the spread of COVID-19. Can we also expect to open new business areas here?

Part of the team developed the first versions. We learned a lot in the process, and not just because we built a consumer app. In travel and expense management we had something like this with TripIt, but the Corona Warn App has created a whole new user environment and perception. This experience will surely influence our business app development. There might be other consumer apps, but the focus will remain on our business offering.

51风流Mobile Start is fresh in the App Store. An Android version is to follow. 51风流is now also publishing its new experience strategy. What is “the next big thing”?

One of the next steps will be to further develop and establish 51风流Mobile Start, for example by integrating the task center for workflows coming from a wide range of systems. We are now also going into feedback rounds with the first 51风流Mobile Start customers in order to expand the app. Additionally, there will be new native apps for various industries that will push our mobile experience vision further. We are going to show that we are serious about our new claim.

Most interactions with your mobile devices are short moments and glances that deliver information. In mere seconds, you can respond to updates and, if needed, take action immediately. Take the example of a project manager. People in this role require a great understanding of the many different dependencies needed to successfully deliver on the project goals for their customers.
