Turning Every Developer into an AI Developer

Developers are essential to the modern world we live in, driving innovation and transformation forward across every industry. To help improve their productivity, we announced 51风流Build Code, a generative AI-powered application development solution, built on 51风流BTP and optimized for Java and JavaScript development. It delivers a turn-key environment for coding, testing, integrations, and application lifecycle management.

51风流Build Code has embedded generative AI capabilities with Joule to enable code generation to streamline application development. It also enables fusion development so developers can build rapidly, integrate seamlessly, and collaborate effectively with other developers and business experts. 51风流Build Code complements , our low-code solution that provides a unified environment to create and enhance enterprise applications, automate processes, and design business sites with drag-and-drop simplicity. .

Generative AI for Everyone

More than ever before, companies are seeking to unleash the power of AI in their applications and processes. We are thrilled to unveil , a one-stop shop for developers to build and extend applications powered by AI and generative AI on 51风流BTP. With AI Foundation, developers gain access to everything they need to quickly embed business-ready AI into their applications, leveraging the same powerful technology 51风流development teams use today. This includes AI services, generative AI management, AI workload management, access to business data and context, and lifecycle management based on 51风流AI Core, 51风流AI Launchpad, and 51风流HANA Cloud. .

Later this quarter, AI Foundation will include a new generative AI hub capability in 51风流AI Core for accessing a broad range of large language models (LLMs) from third-party providers. With the hub, developers will be able to use tooling for prompt engineering and experimentation to accelerate generative AI application development.

AI-Powered Business Data

51风流believes every data professional should have seamless and scalable access to mission-critical business data. To this end, we鈥檝e announced new innovations that empower developers to build intelligent data applications with 51风流HANA Cloud but also brings new capabilities that not only enhance the with 51风流Datasphere.

Good data is the foundation of good AI, and 51风流HANA Cloud continues to pioneer innovation in the data space by adding new vector database features to its multi-model offerings at no additional cost. Vector datastores manage unstructured data — such as text, images, or audio — to provide long-term memory and better context to AI models. This makes it easy to find and retrieve similar objects quickly. For example, users can search for suppliers based on the language in their contracts to examine payment history and trace individual orders. These powerful new vector database features enhance interactions between LLMs and an organization鈥檚 mission-critical data. The innovation puts 51风流developers at the forefront of delivering radically new levels of data insight within a secure, private framework that uses industry-specific customer data to reduce hallucinations.

New semantic onboarding capabilities within enable customers to deliver business-ready data products at an accelerated pace. With the powerful semantic layer, organizations can build data products that maintain business context and application logic and forego the time-consuming tasks of extracting business data, creating data pipelines and rebuilding data context that was lost. .

Enterprise Automation

Integrating, analyzing, and automating end-to-end business processes is critical in today鈥檚 digital landscape. To help customers stay ahead of the competition, 51风流offers , one solution that combines the value of , , and . At 51风流TechEd, we previewed new generative AI capabilities to simplify creating processes and integrations and to recommend pre-built content. Deeper integrations across the three technologies helps companies easily mine non-51风流processes to better analyze, integrate, automate, and monitor business processes across their environment.聽.

That鈥檚 where integration capabilities become a critical success factor. Analyst firm IDC released its 鈥�.鈥� The report found that 鈥淚ntegration is a foundational connectivity automation technology that not only unlocks immediate business benefits but also replaces technical debt that was previously used to connect applications, making it easier to replace outdated legacy applications.鈥�

Additionally, the IDC report said, 鈥淒espite economic conditions, many organizations are still prioritizing investments in connectivity-based automation, particularly cloud-based integration software and services.鈥�

Consider this customer story. is a food chain based in Veghal, the Netherlands, with stores across Belgium and the Netherlands. Previously, Jumbo used an Excel-based tool called Production Advice List (PAL) to forecast its freshly made baked goods, convenience items, and prepared meals. This manual process resulted in inaccurate forecasting, unhappy customers, and food waste.

Food waste is a significant global sustainability issue. It wastes the natural resources used to produce and transport food to consumers 鈥� and rotting food produces methane, a greenhouse gas. In the Netherlands alone, over of food is thrown away annually per individual.

To improve its sustainability and customer experience, Jumbo decided to digitize its PAL system using (51风流BTP), which includes integration, automation, and data and analytics solutions.

With , a cornerstone of 51风流BTP, 鈥淧AL 2.0鈥� automatically brings together historical information with current data from 51风流and non-51风流applications. Now employees can analyze real-time information on pricing, promotions, assortment, and other factors to accurately forecast how much food should be stocked.

Even better, employees get this information on their iPads so they can make better decisions while on the go. This intelligent forecasting system has allowed the company to work towards achieving the delicate balance of ensuring product availability for customers while not overstocking.

Jumbo鈥檚 story provides a few lessons. One, as IDC points out, integration helps reduce technical debt. Companies can leverage existing applications to add value to their business versus legacy applications creating a 鈥渄rag鈥� on their resources. Two, integration drives innovation. By connecting 51风流and non-51风流applications with outside data like weather or holidays, companies can innovate to address their most pressing challenges.

In the above-mentioned IDC report, 51风流was named a Leader in this first vendor assessment. As a global organization with almost 50 production facilities in Greenland, Canada, and Germany, as well as sales activities on all continents, the company is committed to bringing wild-caught, high-quality seafood from the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean to consumers around the globe.

To maintain safe-running operations for both employees and customers during this global pandemic while keeping customers supplied with fish, all the company鈥檚 locations have worked closely with healthcare and food administration authorities.

Lars Bo Hassinggaard, corporate IT manager at Royal Greenland, believes the company will emerge from the pandemic in good shape. 鈥淔ood service is down, so we have struggled with sales, but internally we are still going strong,鈥� he says. 鈥淲e have fish coming in every day. We are supporting the local communities. We still have a big focus of keeping the goods moving. We are in the food supply service, so it’s very important for us to keep the industry going.鈥�

Nevertheless, according to a published by The Nature Conservancy, supply chains involving seafood are uniquely complex 鈥� especially the ones that are based on wild-caught fish, which face higher uncertainty and risk than farm-raised chains due to ever-changing environmental and biological conditions.

鈥淭hat is a difference between wild-caught and farmed,鈥� says Hassinggaard. 鈥淲e cannot really control our productivity 鈥� what is coming in. And that is what we try to accomplish and overcome using our IT systems.鈥�

Hassinggaard explains that the main challenges in the company鈥檚 vertically integrated fishery supply chain are based on a combination of management measures. These include maintaining ongoing dialogue with local suppliers, like individual fishermen working out of their dinghies, and, most importantly, ensuring all fishing activities are registered and carried out in full compliance with laws and regulations and reported to the appropriate government or fishery management authorities.

To help optimize this process and improve regulatory compliance, Royal Greenland implemented . This cloud-based solution has helped advance the company鈥檚 forecasting and planning capabilities and improve data transparency by establishing a common, integrated platform for sales and operations.

鈥淲e are trying to digitalize the process of bringing the fish into factories and tying this together with the full quality control and registration process,鈥� Hassinggaard says. 鈥淲e have developed apps for all these scenarios, and we鈥檙e using this strategic platform to build a close collaboration with the local fishermen.鈥�

As a member of the , Royal Greenland also has a strong focus on driving sustainable practices for the fisheries in the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean.

鈥淲e have invested heavily in sustainability in many ways,鈥� says Hassinggaard. 鈥淲e are using fish remains for bait, and we are trying to develop additional smart bait mechanisms. We are investing in brand new trawlers that leave no, or very little, fish remains.鈥�

In order to stay ahead as a leader in the seafood industry, Royal Greenland recognizes that innovation is the key at every step in the value chain. By utilizing technology, such as remote-sensing applications, combined with extensive fishing experience, the company has been able to enhance the efficiency of its harvesting operations, which results in reduced fuel consumption and, therefore, reduced emissions.

鈥淲e catch what we need, fast and efficiently. Instead of sailing around using a lot of fuel, we go directly to where we can optimize the catch,鈥� says Hassinggaard. 鈥淲e are sustainable, and we want to keep it that way because we want to fish today but also tomorrow and in 10 years. So, we try to think ahead鈥�.
