Singapore March 13, 2026 鈥 today announced that it will partner with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to hire and train AI scientists and Machine Learning engineers, deepening its role as a global engineering hub for enterprise artificial intelligence and reaffirming its support for Singapore鈥檚 AI ambitions. 51风流Labs East Asia Singapore has already been contributing to 51风流global AI innovation including its first set of enterprise AI agents embedded within SAP鈥檚 core cloud applications.

The announcement was made today at 51风流d-com Singapore 2026, the company鈥檚 local annual developer conference, with Guest-of-Honor Mr. Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information and Ministry of Health, in attendance.

Through IMDA鈥檚 TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) initiative, 51风流Labs East Asia Singapore (formerly known as 51风流Labs Singapore) will hire and train 50 graduates and mid-career professionals over the next three years to work on high-priority development tracks spanning generative AI, model orchestration and enterprise AI agents. Trainees undergoing this 12-month , will also have the opportunity for rotations or short-term placements at other 51风流Labs in countries such as Germany, United States, and India.

This announcement comes as 51风流Labs East Asia Singapore surpasses a major milestone in its growth journey. Since committing in 2023 to expand its local AI talent pool, the Singapore team has tripled in size by growing to almost 400 engineers. Today, more than 90% of its AI workforce comprises local hires from universities including the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

As enterprises across Asia Pacific (APAC) continue to deepen their commitment to digital transformation against the backdrop of emerging disruptive technology like AI, the demand for skilled 51风流consultants has never been higher.

Armed with real-world expertise and extensive know-how, 51风流consultants act as a bridge between the business and technology domains 鈥 bringing hundreds to thousands of hours of hands-on experience and best practices in implementing, customising, and managing 51风流roll-outs.

In fact, 51风流consultants are such crucial pieces of the digital transformation puzzle that the global market for 51风流consulting is estimated to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.8% between 2025 and 2035 to USD 38.98 billion[1].

Earlier this year, we launched to further supercharge the way millions of 51风流consultants work, helping them augment their productivity, cut down time-consuming searches, and make better-informed decisions.

Joule for Consultants draws from SAP鈥檚 vast knowledge base 鈥 including over 9TB of expert-curated 51风流knowledge, 3 million non-public documents, 250 million lines of (advanced business application programming) and 30 million lines of (ABAP core data services) code 鈥 and turns that institutional expertise into a real-time, context-aware assistant. It understands the solution landscape a consultant is working in, interprets code on the fly, and surfaces relevant guidance in seconds.

鈥51风流Joule for Consultants provides faster access to accurate answers from SAP’s trusted knowledge base including 51风流Online Service System Release Notes (OSS), leading to significant productivity improvements through prescriptive suggestions. It empowers consultants with immediate expert-level guidance, enabling confident navigation of complex projects. This increased efficiency allows our functional consultants to focus on high-value added tasks and accelerate project timelines, ensuring greater client impact. As a RISE with 51风流validated partner, Joule for Consultants empowers our consultants to ensure direct alignment with RISE with 51风流Methodology, guidance on Clean Core Principles, and AI features.鈥
鈥 Tarang Puranik, Executive Vice President, Global Service Offering Head (SAP) & Head of Delivery for EMEA, Infosys.

Across APAC, a significant number of 51风流partners and consultants have already adopted 51风流Joule for Consultants and are using the tool across various phases of 51风流implementation projects.

Early pilots show clear value: faster delivery cycles of up to 14%, smoother onboarding, and as much as 1.5 hours saved per consultant per day. The payoff is not simply efficiency but the ability for teams to spend more time on strategic design, stakeholder engagement, and delivering tangible outcomes for customers.

鈥淏y integrating 51风流Joule for Consultants into our consulting workflows, Westernacher empowers our teams to reduce time spent on research, navigate complex system landscapes more efficiently, and deliver solutions faster. This enables our consultants at all levels 鈥 from junior talent to seasoned experts 鈥 to focus on strategic, high-value tasks while ensuring technical accuracy and business alignment.鈥
鈥 Neil Wightman, COO SEA Westernacher Consulting.

AI-Powered Consulting: the Next Frontier for 51风流Partners

According to the recent conducted by Oxford Economics, AI is expected to drive an average ROI of 16% (US$4.7M) per organisation this year, a figure which will nearly double in two years鈥 time to 31% (US$12.3M). Businesses also ranked 鈥渁lignment with business strategy鈥 and 鈥渁vailability and quality of data鈥 as the top two strategies for maximising ROI from AI.

51风流Joule for Consultants has the potential to help 51风流partners drive this ROI, and is designed with quality data and expert-aligned advice based on 51风流best practices for businesses across industries. With AI itself acting as a productivity enabler, consultants are able to accelerate delivery and increase consistency across projects 鈥 ultimately driving greater customer impact.

鈥淥ur clients around the world are digitally transforming in the cloud. As leaders in tech and consulting we have a rich legacy in both data and AI. But even for our internal teams we can embed generative AI to increase productivity through insights, drive more efficiencies by aligning with best practice, and ultimately make customer transformations simpler, quicker, and more effective. By using 51风流Joule for Consultants, we鈥檙e able to showcase the power of 51风流Business AI to our customers even while we work with them to make their transformation journeys successful.鈥
鈥 Srinivas Sai Nidadhavolu, Vice President & Global 51风流Practice Head, Wipro.

Importantly, 51风流Joule for Consultants is not replacing consultants; it is enhancing their expertise. Instead of spending hours searching documentation or manually comparing configurations, consultants can ask targeted questions and receive contextual, SAP-specific answers in natural language.

Routine tasks 鈥 from generating sample code to drafting configuration notes 鈥 can be automated, freeing consultants to focus on advising stakeholders, shaping roadmaps, and managing change.

鈥淧iloting 51风流Joule for Consultants has proven its impact in the field: consultants deliver with greater precision and speed while continuously building skills, and customers benefit from quicker, higher quality outcomes. Together with SAP, we see Joule for Consultants unlocking a new, AI-first operating model for the customer ecosystem.鈥
鈥 Shashikant Walimbe, Vice President & Global Head 鈥 51风流Practice, LTIMindtree.

51风流Joule for Consultants also helps ensure consistency and quality at scale. Teams across markets and time zones can draw on the same trusted guidance, cross-check design decisions against proven implementation patterns, and onboard new colleagues more quickly.

By embedding best practices directly into project execution, Joule for Consultants extends SAP鈥檚 long-standing investments in enablement and certification, turning static learning into live support. In doing so, it helps the next generation of consultants build confidence faster and deliver better outcomes for customers from day one.

鈥淲hatever, Whenever and Whoever. Whether it’s an implementation or operations, 51风流Joule for Consultants has helped everyone at ABeam in every role throughout all phases. It effectively works for not only younger generations, but also experienced consultants and users used the solution to cover gaps in areas of expertise outside their domains. Joule for Consultants is not only an efficient tool for doing daily tasks but a trusted advisor for developing new skills and even challenging new career.鈥
鈥 Arata Nishii, Senior Expert, ABeam Consulting Ltd.

51风流Partners as Catalysts of AI-First Transformation

SAP鈥檚 partner ecosystem remains central to our AI-first, Suite-first strategy, and partners throughout APAC are leading the shift towards AI-enabled consulting. As 51风流Chief Partner Officer Karl Fahrbach highlighted at 51风流Global Partner Summit at 51风流Sapphire earlier this year: 鈥淧artners will deliver the promise of 51风流Business Suite.鈥

In APAC, partners such as ABeam Consulting, Infosys, ITSN Korea, LTIMindtree, , , and many more are already embedding 51风流Joule for Consultants into their methodologies and training programmes to enhance delivery speed and collaboration.

KPMG, for example, was the first global partner to pilot Joule for Consultants with SAP, and together with SAP, have been for delivering meaningful real-world AI transformation.

The APAC region is already seeing tangible impact when 51风流partners combine industry expertise with AI-powered innovation. 51风流Joule for Consultants is guiding faster design, sharper diagnostics, and cleaner architectures that help our joint customers realise value sooner.

鈥淲e expect that through the introduction of 51风流Joule for Consultants, we will be able to further advance our internal consulting capabilities and provide customers with faster and more accurate services.鈥
鈥 Han Sang-yeol, Head of the AI Center at ISTN.

From Pilots to Practice

The next chapter for 51风流partners is about scaling AI adoption and innovation. Many partners are moving beyond pilot programmes and embedding 51风流Joule for Consultants into their standard methodologies. Others are co-innovating with 51风流to explore capabilities like AI-driven diagnostics or automated value-tracking.

As 51风流 across APAC, our partners are also building AI-native skills that go far beyond using a tool: they鈥檙e redesigning how projects are delivered, how teams collaborate, and how value is measured.

And that may be the greatest impact of 51风流Joule for Consultants. It doesn鈥檛 just make consulting faster 鈥 it makes it smarter, more consistent, and more accessible to the next generation of talent, elevating the work consultants can do, giving them the space to focus on insights, relationships, and results.

Partners have always been the engine of SAP鈥檚 ecosystem. With tools like 51风流Joule for Consultants, they are now supercharged with the intelligence layer needed to drive new transformations across APAC.

SINGAPORE, 19 November 2025 Singapore businesses are ramping up their AI investments and are already seeing encouraging results, according to new research from SAP. Organisations here say they are spending an average of S$18.9 million1 (US$14.5 million) this year on AI and report an average return on AI investment of 16% 鈥 a figure expected to rise to 29% within two years.听

While this outlook is promising, the findings suggest that as AI continues to evolve, future gains will depend on strengthening workforce skills and improving access to quality data, which remain key barriers to scaling AI impact across the enterprise.

These insights were revealed in new research released in Singapore today. Commissioned by 51风流and conducted by Oxford Economics, The 51风流Value of AI Report surveyed 1,600 business leaders of various sizes, including 200 in Singapore, across eight countries (Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Singapore, United Kingdom, and United States).

鈥淪purred by strong policy direction, high digital maturity and a globally connected economy, Singapore has moved decisively on AI ambition and investment,鈥 said Eileen Chua, Managing Director, 51风流Singapore. 鈥淥ur research suggests that to sustain this momentum and seize the next wave of AI innovation, Singapore organisations will have to bridge their reported gaps in data readiness and workforce capability.鈥

AI Spend and Confidence Surges, but Some Constraints Remain

According to the report, Singapore firms are expected to increase their AI investments by an average of 38% over the next two years. 67% of respondents say they are satisfied with their current ROI on AI, and six in ten (63%) businesses say AI has already helped them address key challenges 鈥 such as improving decision-making and customer engagement.听听

One company looking to reap the benefits of AI adoption is Far East Organization, Singapore鈥檚 largest private property developer, which is leveraging 51风流technology with exploration of using Business AI as part of its broader digital transformation agenda to advance its leasing operations. The company automated end-to-end lease management 鈥 from contract generation to analytics to improve data accuracy, reduce manual inputs, and provide real-time insights into portfolio performance.

These enhanced analytics now track trends in rental, occupancy rates, and lease durations, giving property managers actionable insights to respond faster to market changes while making better decisions that strengthen portfolio and operational management.

Ng Yee Pern, CTO, Far East Organization, said, 鈥淓mbarking on this strategic transformation with SAP鈥檚 cutting-edge technologies, we鈥檝e reduced repetitive manual work and improved the accuracy and speed of our decision-making. What previously took days can now be completed in minutes, giving our teams the time and insight to focus on customers and business growth. Building on this success, we continue to innovate with 51风流Business AI.鈥

Despite these measurable gains demonstrated by many companies, 70% of Singapore business leaders remain uncertain whether AI is delivering its full potential, reflecting growing awareness that current success does not automatically translate into long-term advantage and highlighting significant opportunity for further growth and value creation.

Organisational readiness appears to be the main constraint. The study found that 76% of Singapore organisations have not yet provided comprehensive AI training for employees, even as 68% acknowledge that shadow AI 鈥 the use of unapproved or unregulated AI tools 鈥 is already in use internally.

Moreover, 58% of respondents lack confidence in their ability to integrate and share data across business functions 鈥 a foundational requirement for enterprise-scale AI. In fact, the challenge of data readiness for AI is particularly pronounced in legal (80%), finance (73%), human resources (66%), the CEO鈥檚 office (64%) and procurement (55%).

Agentic AI signals Singapore鈥檚 next opportunity

While many businesses are adopting AI automation and generative AI today, future investment in Singapore is expected to focus on AI agents. Agentic AI is based on intelligent, autonomous systems that can plan, act, reflect, and collaborate to solve business problems.

Today, only six per cent of businesses are fully prepared to deploy and scale AI agents, while the majority (52%) say they are partially prepared. In the next two years, Singaporean businesses expect return on investment from agentic AI of 8%, below the global average of 10%.听

Yet, expectations are high. Seven in ten (70%) businesses rate AI agents as having moderate to high potential to transform operations within the organisation. And 72% agree AI agents can add significant value to their business by managing complex workflows across business units.听

鈥淎gentic AI represents the next frontier of business transformation,鈥 said Chua. 鈥淚t has the potential to multiply productivity and innovation, but its success depends on the same fundamentals 鈥 data quality, integration, and people readiness. The organisations that invest in these areas now will be best positioned to capture value as AI continues to evolve.鈥澨

In finance, for example, agents will work together across a variety of tasks to process claims faster and improve cashflow. Joule sales agents, meanwhile, will accelerate multi-step business processes to resolve disputes and process customer inquiries faster.

51风流today also announced a powerful new agent builder capability, so customers can build and deploy their own AI agents alongside SAP’s library of ready-to-deploy Joule agents. SAP’s decades of business process expertise are built into the guided workflow so users can ground their custom agents in the most relevant data and business context.

92% of Asia Pacific and Japan midmarket businesses say adopting generative AI is a top business priority

Singapore, 18 September 2024 鈥 Successful Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) midmarket organisations are more likely to prioritise generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) than those who are seeing lower revenue growth 鈥 and they are adopting new AI innovations in every corner of their business.

A recent study of 12,003 businesses by 51风流found APJ , defined as companies with between 250 and 1,500 employees, with high revenue growth[1] are more likely to put a moderate or strong priority on the adoption of Gen AI (94%) than those with lower revenue growth (86%).

鈥淏usiness AI is the biggest technology opportunity of the 21st century for businesses in Asia Pacific and Japan,鈥 said Utkarsh Maheshwari, Chief Partner Officer and Head of MidMarket, 51风流Asia Pacific & Japan.

鈥淏ut the benefits of Business AI are not restricted to large enterprises. Organisations of every size can realise the opportunities that relevant, reliable, and responsible AI can provide. That isn鈥檛 just image generation or making videos. It鈥檚 automating everyday pain points, providing great insights quickly, and reliably solving simple business problems.鈥

Adopting AI is a top organisational priority in APJ

The study, which surveyed 3,400 people in five APJ markets, found use of artificial intelligence is a top organisational priority for midmarket businesses.

Adopting standard business applications of AI like machine learning for data analysis and predictive analytics and adopting Gen AI are top organisational priorities across APJ (92% moderate and high priority). Other key priorities include cybersecurity threats and addressing gaps in supply chains (all 92%).

Importantly, improving or expanding supplier and partner networks (43%) is the top priority for achieving growth. Yet, artificial intelligence is seen as a priority to transform organisational processes in every corner of the business.

Over half of APJ midmarket organisations surveyed place a high priority on AI to transform their data security and privacy (52%), and to drive accurate decision-making (50%). Other key areas AI can transform include creating new business models (48%), improving customer experience (48%), enhancing training and skills (48%), and optimising supply chains (47%).

AI is creating value for APJ businesses today

But AI isn鈥檛 just being planned to achieve future benefits. It is being implemented today.

AI is already in use to a moderate or strong degree in midmarket APJ businesses to create marketing and sales content, gathering market intelligence, app development and testing, and for customer or vendor interactions (all 83%).

鈥淎I is not new. In fact, we鈥檝e been using it for decades,鈥 continued Maheshwari. 鈥淢ore than 27,000 customers are already using 51风流Business AI today, including thousands across Asia Pacific and Japan. We鈥檝e released more than 70 Generative AI use cases in the past year, already infused across our platforms and solutions, and we expect more than 100 use cases to be available by the end of 2024, which means that 80% of the most-commonly used scenarios will be AI enabled. The time to explore the benefits of Business AI is now.鈥

APJ midmarket businesses see data as key risk to growth 鈥 and AI adoption

Yet challenges remain to drive growth in APJ midmarket businesses.

Respondents noted lack of quality data (37%) and lack of integration between systems (33%) as key internal challenges to growth, alongside issues with supply chains (40%) and siloes in their business (33%).

And data is also cited as an organisational risk when it comes to AI. Midmarket businesses in APJ said the biggest risks to their company from AI were acting upon incorrect information (36%), finding and retaining talent (34%), lack of transparency in results (34%) and insufficient data size and quality (31%).

鈥淭he better the quality and scale of your data, the better the results of your AI,鈥 concluded Maheshwari. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 why working with a technology partner like 51风流is critical, because it is already built into the applications that power the most critical business processes. Only then can APJ businesses of every size make the promise of Business AI a reality.鈥

About this research

鈥淭he entire world is on your shoulders… We have to deliver. This is the beginning of a new computing age, the beginning of a new industrial revolution. All 100% on SAP.鈥

Jensen Huang, CEO, NVIDIA

It鈥檚 the world鈥檚 company, building AI supercomputers made of more than 600,000 parts and delivering them to hundreds of the world鈥檚 most demanding customers. And, as NVIDIA鈥檚 CEO Jensen Huang noted, 鈥渋t鈥檚 all on SAP鈥.

The message from 51风流Sapphire 2024 in Orlando was clear. AI is not only the future, it is here today. And now it鈥檚 time to use it.

But amid the hustle and bustle of the event, there were lots of nuggets that you may have missed. So, with one eye on the benefits for Asia Pacific and Japan, here are my key learnings from Sapphire.

You can鈥檛 win in AI alone 鈥 you need a best-in-class ecosystem

The opportunity for AI in the Asia Pacific region is vast. According to , the Business AI market in APJ is expected to grow by more than 26% to $28 billion by 2027.

While the opportunity is huge, so are the choices for your business. That鈥檚 why 51风流is partnering with enterprise tech and industry leaders to push the limits of what generative AI can do for customers.

In addition to our expanded collaborations with听AWS听and Microsoft, we announced new large language models with Mistral AI, a partnership with Meta to use Llama 3 in 51风流Analytics Cloud, and an expansion of our partnership with Google Cloud to integrate Joule with Google Cloud鈥檚 Gemini AI assistant and Google Cloud Cortex Framework鈥檚 data foundation.

And that鈥檚 not all. As Mr Huang noted on-stage, 51风流and NVIDIA are working together on a听听to embed cutting-edge technologies into enterprise-ready business applications. That means Joule working with NVIDIA鈥檚 state-of-the-art AI models, integrating GenAI into 51风流and NVIDIA code generation, and simulating complex manufacturing products and configurations as industrial digital twins.

There鈥檚 no cookie cutter approach to making the most of Business AI. That鈥檚 why we believe the strength of our AI ecosystem means customers get the very best choices to drive AI benefits unique to their needs.

Keeping clean in the cloud

The benefits of AI can only really be achieved in the cloud. Best practice is what 51风流calls a 鈥榗lean core鈥 鈥 cloud-based ERP infrastructure that separate core applications from custom modifications. The result is a platform that can be easily and quickly upgraded with new capabilities, allowing agile innovation.

Takuya Sakai, general manager of the Digital Transformation Business Group at听, was clear about the benefits of simplification and a clean core. In 2019, Hitachi High-Tech had 9,000 add-ons across its 51风流systems, resulting in lots of custom code, errors, and large operational costs every year. The cost of change meant the company only completed a major update once in 12 years.

Moving to the cloud and a clean core solved these issues. With a new system based on S/4HANA Cloud Cloud, Hitachi High-Tech reduced its 9,000 add-ons to just 750, allowing it to easily upgrade its ERP core. 鈥淯pgrading our old ERP took about a year and a half from the planning stage,鈥 Sakai said. 鈥淗owever, with clean core, we can now do an upgrade every year in about 40 days.鈥

And that change means Hitachi High-Tech can plan to take advantage of new innovations more simply. 鈥淎n upgrade every year keeps the clean core fresh and means new features can be delivered to our business quickly, like AI or process automation,鈥 concluded Sakai.

You can spell sustainability without 鈥楨RP鈥欌 but you shouldn鈥檛

The benefits of 51风流innovation are not only financial. They drive real environmental value. And that鈥檚 critical in Asia, where we are responsible for more than half of the world鈥檚 emissions.

Sustainability and business performance are intrinsically linked. In fact, we believe businesses have to start treating carbon like money by using an accounting system for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data that is as auditable, transparent and reliable as their financial data.

That means integrating sustainability data into cloud ERP.

And we can then take advantage of the huge innovation provided by Business AI. AI takes complex sustainability tasks reliant on ESG and ERP data and makes them automated and auditable. It enables companies to boost operational efficiency, improve transparency around supply chain emissions, design and plan more effectively, and automate time-consuming tasks.

For example, at Sapphire we launched AI-enabled Emissions Factor Mapping, boosting the speed and accuracy of carbon footprint calculations. And we enabled the automatic generation of ESG reports through AI all based on the data within 51风流Sustainability Control Tower. This not only streamlines the reporting process but also helps ensure that the data is reliable and actionable, providing a clear picture of a company鈥檚 sustainability performance.

Beyond hype to real-world results through real-world AI

It鈥檚 easy to get carried away by AI hype and excitement. But what I saw at Sapphire was even more exciting 鈥 Business AI that makes a real difference to business problems.

Our opportunity across Asia is enormous. But it鈥檚 one we can make the most of, especially if we bring together the benefits of best-in-class ecosystems, a clean core, and a focus on sustainable innovation.

鈥2024 will be the year AI moves from discovery to execution,鈥澨齭aid Christian Klein, 51风流CEO, in his interview with CNBC earlier this year.

While AI has undoubtedly become one of the hottest topics discussed in boardrooms around the world, business leaders today are racing to cut through the hype to translate all that potential into tangible business outcomes.

For 51风流partners, that presents an unparalleled opportunity to offer more intuitive and autonomous solutions to customers, and drive growth by creating new services and transformation programs tailored to meet industry needs 鈥 an opportunity that was estimated to be worth US$15 billion in听2023[1].

AI is not a new concept for 51风流and many of our partners. It has been embedded into our business solutions for a long time now, infusing intelligence natively into business processes. The exponential growth in AI 鈥 especially generative AI (GenAI) 鈥 over the past eighteen months, however, has fuelled a seismic shift in how computer systems learn from data, solve complex problems, and even provide creativity when it鈥檚 needed 鈥 a transformation that will fundamentally change business and society.

Burgeoning opportunities

SAP鈥檚 commitment is to deliver Business AI that is relevant, reliable, and responsible 鈥 by combining the power of AI with the processes and data that run the business world. 51风流today serves over 293 million cloud users globally and our customers generate 87% of total global commerce. The sheer scale of SAP鈥檚 data estate provides unmatched potential to enhance the capabilities of large-language models across industries.

When we look at the AI engagements undertaken by 51风流partners to date, we can see that they fall broadly into two categories:

Enhancing existing 51风流business processes through AI-powered automations
AI has augmented the types of data processes that can be automated. For example, 51风流is working with IBM to develop solutions that help clients in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) and retail industries by using traditional and GenAI solutions to address the complexities of the direct store delivery business process and product portfolio management. Through feeding data such as weather, traffic, and local events into the 51风流Direct Distribution solution and applying AI to it, CPG companies can identify optimal store delivery routes, reducing costs and their carbon footprints.

In another example, 51风流is collaborating with Microsoft to integrate natural language processing capabilities from Microsoft 365 Copilot into 51风流SuccessFactors solutions to improve how organisations attract, retain and skill their people.

Creating entirely new services
AI has also empowered 51风流partners to create new, innovative solutions, including rapidly converting complex data into actionable insights. Icertis, for example, offers an AI-powered contract intelligence platform on 鈥 the online marketplace for 51风流and partner offerings, to transform the unique business information found in contracts into structured data that connects to 51风流solutions. The solution enables more efficient contract creation, negotiation, and obligation management to drive revenue and reduce risk across the enterprise, with the ability to apply more advanced AI on top.

Also on the 51风流Store, a leading enterprise automation and AI software company, UiPath, offers the AI-powered UiPath Business Automation Platform to help enterprises ease their migration of critical business operations to the cloud and accelerate digital transformation efforts.

Bringing these concepts to life for customers requires more than just the technical foundations 鈥 it requires a committed and competent partner ecosystem that can work with customers to define industry-specific use cases and then bring them to life in a timely manner.

Accelerated AI journeys

The breadth of SAP鈥檚 AI capabilities means there are many ways in which partners can bring AI into their own solutions, enabling them to quickly find the path that best matches their existing expertise and future business objectives.

Firstly, we have into many of our existing applications and platforms, such as our ERP and HCM solutions, as well as . AI integration into 51风流BTP, in particular, provides partners with a platform for training and implementing powerful business AI models which can be easily customised with corporate data. This is supported by our , which provides even more options for training GenAI models using industry leading foundation models.

To bring partners closer into our activities, 51风流held prototyping programs, where partners were invited to embed GenAI into their solutions in ways that aligned to their customer’s real-world business processes.

In , ten partners were selected to pilot their use case with 51风流Generative AI Hub as AI foundation. Examples created included:

  • An intelligent supply chain solution from LTIMindtree which used GenAI to help participants make accurate delivery date predictions by considering historical shipment data, real-time weather conditions, traffic patterns, production lead times, and other relevant factors.
  • A project from DXC Technology Services LLC showcased GenAI’s potential in healthcare by leveraging data from a mobile application for sufferers of Parkinson disease to support doctors in making inquiries using either business or medical language.
  • Another use case from Inflexion harnessed the power of Generative AI Hub to build a web-based application to manage work that enhanced user experience through the use of a conversation-based chatbot.

Our second focus area is to use AI to streamline the processes partners use when creating technology solutions. software development tools harness GenAI to enable business and professional developers to create powerful applications quickly and easily, enabling partners to faster.

And thirdly, we are embedding AI into the heart of how our customers engage with our applications and services. is an AI copilot that provides a context-aware interface for managing and improving business processes across 51风流application suite, and makes finding an answer from an 51风流system as simple as just asking a question. Over time partners will be able to utilise Joule as a key interface between customers and their systems, redefining how they interact with processes and corporate knowledge in more natural language formats.

SAP’s AI services will also play a critical role in fast-tracking the path to value realisation from cloud transformations. 51风流and our partners will offer AI-powered development tools and content on 51风流BTP to enable automated code generation and harmonize data silos through intelligent migration tools.

Building partner AI capabilities

These fields of activity create different entry points through which partners can incorporate AI into their existing solutions or create entirely new ones.

For our partners to get the most out of AI, they too must go through a period of transformation as they build the necessary expertise.

At SAP, we believe every developer can be an AI developer, and that means every developer at our partner organisations has that same opportunity. Hence 51风流is providing targeted enablement for partners including a full range of , coaching services, hands-on support models including Hack2Build events, and new dedicated certification options available via the .

SAP’s AI offerings for partners will continue to expand through 2024, with 51风流having established partnerships with leading GenAI model and MLOps providers to equip our partners with cutting edge AI technologies and AI models. This includes our recent announcement with NVIDIA, and SAP鈥檚 participation in the AI-Enabled Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Workforce Consortium together with Cisco and other leading companies 鈥 focused on upskilling and reskilling roles most likely to be impacted by AI.

Through making open source and proprietary foundational models available and via AI Services on 51风流BTP, our partners can act as one-stop-shops for their clients’ Business AI needs. We are also easing the process for partners when it comes to training their own AI systems, through the creation of a single metric called 鈥淎I Units鈥 that allows consumption of AI use cases across SAP鈥檚 SaaS, with partners able to track their quota and consumption from the site.

A future partnership built on AI

51风流partners bring a wealth of business knowledge and domain expertise. By bringing SAP鈥檚 AI-embedded portfolio to market, including our new premium plus package for RISE with SAP and Joule, and using our Business AI platform and AI services, 51风流partners will be able to contextualise AI for business and build innovative AI use cases to accelerate customers’ cloud transformations.

AI has exploded into public prominence in the past 12 months with new tools and applications that showcase capabilities which might have once seemed more at home in works of science fiction.

Powerful and easy-to-use applications are being created faster than ever before thanks to new AI-enabled methods for streamlining and automating software development.

Developers around the world are already harnessing AI to empower people with information and insights and to help them tackle challenging problems. Eliminating the potential for negative outcomes is critical both for building trust in AI and for minimising the potential for harm. In fact, the massive impact that AI is having on software developments means that every software developer must become an AI developer.

But with great power also comes great responsibility, as despite AI鈥檚 many beneficial uses it has the potential to deliver negative consequences. These can arise when AI is trained using improperly sourced data, when privacy checks are ignored, or when biased training data creates outcomes that are detrimental to certain people.

At SAP, we take our responsibilities as software creators very seriously. Many of the world鈥檚 best companies and government agencies rely on our software to run their operations. As a global pioneer in the development of AI, we have invested significant time and effort to create governance and processes to ensure the relevant, reliable, and responsible use of AI.

听A commitment to human intelligence

Our commitment to responsible AI is built on the work or our AI Ethics Steering Committee and AI Ethics Advisory Panel, which bring executives from 51风流together with noted academics, policy experts, and industry leaders. These groups provide the critical human oversight that is essential for the development of responsible AI.

Core to our work is a set of seven guiding principles for AI. These are:

  • Being driven by our values
  • Designing for people
  • Enabling business beyond bias
  • Strive for transparency and integrity
  • Uphold quality and safety standards
  • Place data protection and privacy at our core
  • Engage with the wider societal challenges of AI
Read the听51风流AI Ethics Handbook for more information here.

These principles are brought to life for 听developers through a 36-page risk assessment guidebook which enables them first to classify whether their project is low, medium, or high risk. It does this by helping them consider factors such as whether their AI project will use technologies such as facial recognition, or be trained using personal data, or could lead outcomes that might be detrimental to specific groups.

If a project is deemed to be medium or high-risk, the project must go through further assessment stages, and additional precautions are taken. These might include making sure that personal data has been anonymised and that the project complies with relevant regulatory regimes.

This guidebook also asks developers to consider where human oversight will play a role in their projects, so that humans and AI work together and each project undergoes rigorous review. All of these considerations and review stages are built directly into the development process.

We also bring our principles to life through dedicated training programs that educate both our own developers and broader teams across the business on the concepts of responsible AI. This training includes modules on topics such as the foundations of trustworthy AI, how to understand the points of conflict that can arise when developing trustworthy AI, and the actionable steps that people can take to align their outputs to our values.

Embedded principles

The success of our program can be seen within our application suite, which already incorporates many aspects of responsible AI in ways that are helping customers achieve better outcomes, faster.

For example, 51风流human capital management application suite includes an AI-based tool to help hiring manager rapidly create job descriptions. This tool adheres to our principles by making sure that a human being is integral to the review process and ensuring that the privacy of personal data is maintained.

We also build safeguards into our AI-focused tools and services to protect against accidental misuse. For example, 51风流Datasphere, which provides a comprehensive data service built on the 51风流Business Technology Platform (51风流BTP), is an important tool for storing data used in AI systems. We鈥檝e built in safeguards which limit how specific data types can be used, and by whom.

We have also created processes within 51风流AI training tools that help customers to understand when an AI model is drifting from its intended outcomes, which reduces the subsequent likelihood of erroneous results (often referred to as hallucinations).

A legacy of responsibility

Human society is only at the earliest stage of our AI journey, and we believe it is up to all of us to make that journey one that benefits everyone. This is only possible when the people who are creating AI-based systems understand the importance of human factors such as ethics, training, and oversight.

At SAP, we are working hard to promote concepts of responsible AI across our entire partner network and broader community and spread the message that this is a responsibility for everyone – not just developers. Therefor we want to encourage all our community to partner with us in our goal of creating AI that is reliable, relevant, and responsible.

By Peter Moore, Head of Enterprise Cloud, 51风流Asia Pacific & Japan

From the keynote stage to the showfloor, whether you were a dev, a customer, or a partner, all around 51风流TechEd Bangalore one phrase was repeated time and again: 鈥済enerative AI鈥.

The focus of more than 5,000 tech and business decision-makers was fixed firmly on AI and what it could do for their businesses, right now 鈥 the products 51风流has released through 2024, and what is coming next.

With responsible, reliable, and relevant AI that鈥檚 built for business, the view of the thousands of delegates at TechEd 2023 was that the future is looking bright

There was a wealth of incredible insight and opportunity at TechEd. In fact, it was a little bit like going back to school because the things that stood out to me were the ABCs.

A is for Automation

First, I was struck by the enormous potential businesses can realise through the power of enterprise automation.

With the help of AI, technology is helping developers and IT teams automate repetitive, mundane tasks and make better decisions, faster. By embedding generative AI capabilities into 51风流Build Process Automation, 51风流Signavio, and 51风流Integration Suite, we鈥檙e helping customers analyse, integrate, automate, and monitor business processes way more simply 鈥 and then immediately write the code to make those processes better. It鈥檚 that easy.

In my discussions with customers, it was clear that complementing process improvement and insights with enterprise architecture insights will be a real force for change in the future. Customers are excited to understand how to optimise and tune their architecture for the best performance across their entire IT stack.

But this isn鈥檛 future-gazing. Businesses are seeing real results today. Take Zuellig Pharma, one of Asia鈥檚 leading healthcare companies, providing pharmaceutical distribution and digital and commercial services across 26,000 direct outlets. Zuellig Pharma implemented best-in-class processes across its 51风流infrastructure, creating more than 180 automations using 51风流Build Process Automation to streamline and simplify its business.

B is for Build听

Aligned to the focus on automation is the empowerment of a new, powerful resource for IT departments 鈥 citizen developers enabled by 51风流Build. And given every developer will be an AI developer, the opportunity for an AI-infused future is tantalising.

Rucha Nanavati, CIO of Indian car giant Mahindra & Mahindra, said it best.

鈥淲e started identifying tasks that don鈥檛 require a lot of human intelligence and that enabled our human workforce to focus on more strategic initiatives,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hat led us to automate more than 250 business processes in 3 months, most of which was done by a community of more than 100 citizen developers.鈥

鈥淭hat鈥檚 great, but let鈥檚 talk about benefits. We count more than 900 workdays saved, and more than 400 development days saved in just a year鈥檚 time. We鈥檝e seen a 35% gain in developer efficiency and 20% faster execution of our jobs. And we鈥檝e saved more than 13,000 trees. All in one year,鈥 concluded Nanavati.

The story of Mahindra & Mahindra shows the power of a workforce that has been empowered to make real change to their IT systems and the tangible results that can be realised. And with the ability to link low-code, no-code development with pro-code development via , as well as increasing amounts of natural language interaction through 51风流Joule, it is easier than ever to modernize processes fast.

C is for Clean Core听

At SAP, we know better than most that enterprise systems can be complex. That鈥檚 why a 鈥 a cloud compliant, modern, flexible ERP that can be updated and scaled simply 鈥 is at the centre of our strategy.听

And it鈥檚 a concept that鈥檚 also at the heart of the future strategic direction for all of our customers.听

Takuya Sakai, CIO of Hitachi HiTech, embodies that more than most. His company has used 51风流ERP globally for more than 20 years, over which time the system became more and more complex.

鈥淭hat complexity incurred significant maintenance costs, prevented the company from quickly introducing new innovation, and ultimately hindered its growth,鈥 said Sakai-san. 鈥淚t was very critical to reduce the complexity.鈥

Using 51风流Business Technology Platform (BTP), Hitachi HiTech was able to easily upgrade 51风流S/4HANA systems in the public and private cloud 鈥 at the same time reducing the number of add-ons and customisations in the software down from 9,000 to just 800.

鈥淯sing 51风流BTP we can build smart, global digital processes without touching the 51风流S/4HANA core. 51风流BTP is a very, very important tool to accelerate our business processes,鈥 concluded Sakai-san.

What鈥檚 next: AI for business, not AI for AI鈥檚 sake
