Muscat, Oman 鈥� 21 June 2023 鈥� Oman has reached a major milestone in its digital transformation with today鈥檚 announcement of the Sultanate鈥檚 first private cloud data center, launched by global technology company 51风流SE (NYSE: SAP) in alignment with Oman鈥檚 Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT).

At the same time, Oman-based global integrated energy company OQ signed an agreement with the global technology company to adopt RISE with 51风流and to run its 51风流solutions, including integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) across all of its business assets, on the new in-country data center, making it the first 51风流Oman private cloud customer.

In the presence of H.E. Dr. Ali Al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at the MTCIT, the agreement was signed by Eng. Mariam Al Shaibani, Vice President of Integrated Digital Solutions at OQ, and Waheed Murtadha Al Hamaid, Country Manager, 51风流Oman.

SAP鈥檚 data center will help to empower the Omani Vision 2040 strategy by accelerating innovation and cloud adoption and enabling companies across more than 25 industries to leverage the benefits of SAP鈥檚 cloud solutions with secure in-country data storage.

H.E. Dr. Ali Al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at the MTCIT, said, “The launch of a local 51风流cloud service that enables companies to securely store their information within Oman鈥檚 borders is aligned with the MTCIT鈥檚 commitment to creating efficient digital systems and solutions as set out in the four-track digital transformation program we announced last year. By moving to the cloud, OQ will be able to leverage the benefits of 51风流S/4HANA ERP, which include increased efficiencies, 360-degree visibility, and greater control over all operations. The solution streamlines and automates business processes and delivers real-time analytics, enabling data-driven decision-making to respond with agility to new opportunities and changes in the market.

Muscat, Sultanate of Oman 鈥� 1 June, 2023 鈥� Oman鈥檚 National University of Science and Technology (NU) will be among the first institutions in the GCC to adopt an integrated, end-to-end higher education solution from global technology company SAP, with Omantel and Yash Technologies Middle East as the implementation partners.

The solution will enable faculty members and students to manage everything from curricula, schedules and attendance to grades and grants through an easy-to-use portal, while also optimizing the university鈥檚 business processes 鈥� including finance, HR and procurement 鈥� for its leadership.

In embarking on a digital transformation strategy, NU was seeking a flexible solution that could cover enterprise resource planning (ERP) functions as well as meet the needs of students and faculty across five campuses. Formed in 2018 with the merger of three well-established institutions, the university now has five colleges 鈥� Engineering; Medicine and Health Sciences; Pharmacy; International Maritime; and Advanced Technology 鈥� as well as the School of Foundation Studies. Its enrollment of around 5,000 includes foreign students from more than 30 nations. It also has international affiliations and research collaborations in 28 countries, including the UK and USA, adding to the complexity of its technology needs.

The student information component of the solution is SAP鈥檚 Student Lifecycle Management, which has been implemented at more than 125 educational institutions worldwide. Students self-manage their degree requirements from registration through to graduation on an online portal or mobile app. The system ensures transparency; is flexible to allow for changes in academic structure and processes; and is compatible across different curriculum-execution systems at affiliated global universities.
