The application, PODway, enabled an exceptional visitor experience for People of Determination at the first major global event to be staged since the pandemic.

SAP, the Official Innovative Enterprise Software Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, designed PODway to help People of Determination navigate the site easily, highlighting accessible features in each pavilion and accessible services via real-time event insights. The first World Expo to be a certified Sensory Accessible Event by Sensory Access, Expo 2020 Dubai and 51ˇçÁ÷have engaged extensively with the community and relevant stakeholders throughout PODway’s development, in line with its ambition to be the most inclusive World Expo ever.

A series of accessibility forums have helped gain a thorough understanding of the complete journey of a person of determination, with Expo 2020 Dubai used a testing group for use at future events of such scale.

PODway supports those with mobility, visual, hearing, cognitive and/or sensory-access needs. 51ˇçÁ÷ include: wayfinding guidance; navigation to Expo 2020 Dubai using various transport options; information about initiatives, exhibits and events for, or by, people of determination.

The PODway app also includes details about assistive devices or accessible features and their availability across the site, alongside an ‘Assistance and SOS’ button for immediate contact and appropriate support – underpinned by geotracking of a person’s position onsite.

51ˇçÁ÷is powering end-to-end Expo experiences with the 51ˇçÁ÷S/4HANA real-time business suite and the 51ˇçÁ÷Analytics Cloud for real-time operations. The 51ˇçÁ÷Customer Checkout application is already processing an expected 300,000 daily sales transactions from 500 retailers and more than 1,000 points of sale. 51ˇçÁ÷Ariba solutions are digitizing and automating procurement for more than 25,000 local and global suppliers, who have already transacted more than AED 1 billion in spend on the platform.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — 8 September 2021 — More than 300 retailers at Expo 2020 Dubai are set to process an expected 400,000-500,000 daily transactions, using a point-of-sale solution developed by SAP, the mega-event’s Innovative Enterprise Software Partner.

Participants and retailers across catering, food and beverage, and merchandise will use the solution to gain real-time insights across more than 1,200 points-of-sale terminals. The data from the points of sale will be integrated with the financial and operational data from the 51ˇçÁ÷S/4HANA business suite, with results available in real time.

Expo 2020 Dubai is integrating transactions with a local external payment provider for continuous and smooth processing, and 100 percent transparency in sales and financial results. Participants and retailers can centrally monitor the points of sale, and retailers can manage coupons that visitors can redeem across channels.

The 51ˇçÁ÷Customer Checkout solution covers all product selection, discounts, returns, tax calculations, multiple payment options, loyalty management and day-end closing.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – 16 December 2020: A number of challenges and opportunities have emerged for university students and graduates as a result of the COVID pandemic – a subject that was top of the agenda in the virtual event “Building the Ideal Skill Set for the 21^st Century: How Students Can Prepare for the Modern Workplace”, which kicked off the Expo 2020 Dubai’s Education Programme Webinar Series.

Held in collaboration with SAP, Expo’s Official Innovative Enterprise Software Partner, it highlighted how the pandemic has led to job-search challenges for university students and graduates, but has catalyzed innovation and technological advancement.

Indeed, the UAE is a rare global bright spot: many UAE employers are expecting the market to rally, with up to 14 percent growth in the university graduate labor market in 2021, according to a by the Institute of Student Employers. Many recruitment tools have already been moved online.

“Interdisciplinary collaboration and life-long learning in an increasingly digital work environment is the exciting future of work the next generation of talents shall be prepared for by universities and companies,” said Katharina Schäfer, Global Head of University Alliances, SAP.
