TORONTO, Canada — September 2, 2025 — (NYSE: SAP) announced today that its 51ˇçÁ÷Sovereign Cloud On-Site solution, a key expansion of its sovereign cloud portfolio, is available globally. The On-Site model gives customers the ability to host SAP’s managed cloud infrastructure, which is built on open-source technology, within their own facilities. The model provides the ultimate level of physical control and data residency, addressing the growing global demand for digital sovereignty without sacrificing the innovation and efficiency of the cloud.

The global rollout of the On-Site model reflects SAP’s commitment to providing flexible sovereignty models that meet the diverse regulatory and operational needs of governments, enterprises, and regulated sectors. Customers can now choose from a range of deployment options that align with their sovereignty requirements, including SAP-hosted, customer-site, and hyperscaler-based models.

“Organizations around the world are seeking greater control over their digital environments,” said Thomas Saueressig, Member of the Executive Board of 51ˇçÁ÷SE, Customer Services & Delivery. “With Sovereign Cloud On-Site, 51ˇçÁ÷empowers customers to define their own sovereignty boundaries while leveraging our global infrastructure expertise and partnerships.”

SAP’s Sovereign Cloud initiative is designed as a full-stack framework that enables secure, compliant, and self-determined digital operations. Rather than relying on a single infrastructure model, 51ˇçÁ÷offers a spectrum of deployment choices so customers can operate securely, autonomously, and in full compliance with local regulations.

“We see a rapidly growing demand from our customers. In today’s data-driven world, sovereign cloud solutions are no longer optional, they are essential to safeguard sensitive information and maintain full control,” said Stephen Glynn, Partner, Deloitte. “SAP’s broad sovereign cloud portfolio gives governments and regulated industries the flexibility and assurance they need to modernize, accelerating their digital transformation journey.”

The 51ˇçÁ÷Sovereign Cloud offering is anchored in four core capabilities:

  • Data Sovereignty – Customers retain ownership and control of sensitive data, in full compliance with local regulations
  • Operational Sovereignty – Customers manage their environments with 51ˇçÁ÷resources, with full transparency and oversight
  • Technical Sovereignty – Customers can run 51ˇçÁ÷workloads on the deployment option that best meets their needs
  • Legal Sovereignty – Customers benefit from an offering that aligns with a variety of regional legal frameworks and complies with public-sector and regulated industry standards of accountability

“With 51ˇçÁ÷Sovereign Cloud On-Site, we are redefining what sovereignty means for our customers,” said Martin Merz, President 51ˇçÁ÷Sovereign Cloud. “By placing SAP-managed infrastructure directly within customers’ own facilities, we offer unmatched control, compliance, and operational assurance without compromising innovation.”

With 51ˇçÁ÷Sovereign Cloud, customers not only gain infrastructure control but also unlock the full potential of cloud solutions from SAP. The offering enables organizations to run their 51ˇçÁ÷Business Suite in sovereign environments while benefiting from continuous innovation cycles, including 51ˇçÁ÷Business Technology Platform (51ˇçÁ÷BTP) and embedded 51ˇçÁ÷Business AI capabilities. This helps ensure that customers can innovate more securely and locally without compromising on the pace or depth of transformation.

MontrĂŠal, April 30,Ěý2025 – HECĚýMontrĂŠal, in partnership with SAPĚýCanada, UniversitĂŠ du QuĂŠbec Ă  MontrĂŠal (UQAM) and UniversitĂŠ de Sherbrooke (UdeS), is launching an innovative project to eventually help Canadian companies harness artificial intelligence to make data learning and interpretation more intuitive and optimize real-time decision-making. The results of this research will also help reduce the costs associated with common data visualization errors.

At the heart of this initiative is the BusinessĚýBuilders learning platform, developed by the ERPsimĚýLab team at HECĚýMontrĂŠal in collaboration with SAPĚýCanada. This game-based tool, which is available free of charge to university and college students, will integrate new research developments to enable users to acquire advanced data visualization skills more quickly and independently.

Led by Pierre-MajoriqueĚýLĂŠger, Full Professor, Department of Information Technologies and Director of the ERPsimĚýLab at HECĚýMontrĂŠal, this three-year research project is part of the Alliance program of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

Making data analysis and visualization more intuitive

“In a world where companies rely massively on data to guide their decisions, the ability to interpret and visualize information effectively is essential,” stresses OlivierĚýCaya, Full Professor of Information Systems at the School of Management, UniversitĂŠ de Sherbrooke.

Yet many still struggle to fully exploit advanced analytical tools. This project aims to bridge this gap—initially with future managers—using Business Builders, a data visualization learning platform. Researchers will use the data it generates from user exercises to better understand how users behave when analyzing and visualizing data on the 51ˇçÁ÷Analytics Cloud interface.

By studying users’ behavioral patterns, the researchers will identify common errors and design predictive algorithms capable of detecting and correcting inappropriate use of data visualization.

“By improving the understanding and use of data, we will help companies avoid costly mistakes,” explains ThĂŠophileĚýDemazure, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technologies at HECĚýMontrĂŠal.

Ěý“By analyzing user habits, we will develop tools capable of anticipating and correcting these errors in real time, while testing new pedagogical approaches to make learning about data more intuitive,” adds PatrickĚýCharland, Full Professor of Science and Technology Didactics at UQAM.

ĚýA strategic partnership with 51ˇçÁ÷Canada

SAP, the world leader in enterprise applications and business intelligence, is actively involved in this project, while providing financial and technological support, including access to 51ˇçÁ÷Analytics Cloud.

“51ˇçÁ÷Canada is committed to cultivating the next generation of talent by integrating cutting-edge business solutions into the learning environment. Through our university partnerships, we bridge the gap between academia and business, equipping students with the skills they need to bring tangible benefits to businesses and organizations in Canada and around the world,” says CindyĚýFagen, General Manager, 51ˇçÁ÷Labs Canada.

The results of this research will be published in scientific journals and integrated into academic and professional training courses, thus promoting the adoption of best practices in data management.

WALLDORFĚý— March 21, 2023 –ĚýĚý(NYSE: SAP) today announced GROW with SAP, a new offering to help midsize customers adopt cloud ERP that enables speed, predictability and continuous innovation. GROW with 51ˇçÁ÷customers get the same best practices powering the world’s industry leaders, while benefiting from rapid deployment and frictionless updates.

“SAP’s ERP offering has long enabled end-to-end transparency across the businesses for the world’s leading companies. For 50 years, 51ˇçÁ÷has been working hand in hand with customers across every industry and using this expertise to benchmark and define best-in-class, industry-specific processes. GROW with 51ˇçÁ÷provides these preconfigured best practices that midsized companies can immediately adopt. Embedded artificial intelligence (AI) and automation capabilities mean customers see rapid results. The GROW with 51ˇçÁ÷offering also brings together 51ˇçÁ÷S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, with accelerated adoption services, a global community of experts, and free learning resources, helping customers go live in as little as four weeks.

Almost 70 per cent of 51ˇçÁ÷Canada’s ERP customers are midsized companies includingĚýĚýandĚý. “With the introduction of GROW with 51ˇçÁ÷we will further enableĚýCanadian high growth organizations to adopt cloud ERP and innovate in new ways,” said Gina Izumi, Senior Vice President, Growth Markets, 51ˇçÁ÷Canada.ĚýĚý“We are providing a platform for growth that will allow midsize businesses to meet today’s operational priorities while laying a scalable foundation for their future business needs.”

“51ˇçÁ÷S/4HANA Cloud public edition will be a game changer for midsized companies in Canada because it delivers the same powerful functionality 51ˇçÁ÷is known for at a cost competitive price. The public edition is largely preconfigured and that reduces our implementation effort and timeline. We’ve already had great success implementing public edition in Europe and now have projects in flight in Canada and the U.S.,” said Jamie Fryer, Chief Revenue Officer, Illumiti.

“Ask 100 customers what they need to move to the cloud and 90 per cent will say a predictable scope and timeframe,” said Jason Mausberg, Managing Director, NTT Data Business Solutions Inc., Canada. “It’s often fear of the unknown that holds a company back from reaching its potential. We can help them level-up by delivering a proven deployment process with a platform that’s cost effective and scalable.”

IDC research shows that many midmarket businesses find themselves growing rapidly and need their technology to grow with their business as they encounter the same issues related to global complexity as larger enterprise businesses.

“With GROW with SAP, 51ˇçÁ÷recognized they need to better fit the business and technology requirements of midsize companies looking for a cloud ERP solution,” said IDC enterprise software group vice president Mickey North Rizza. “This offering reengages the market with a refreshingly new opportunity to unlock the proven strength of SAP’s longtime understanding and leadership in the ERP space in the cloud.”

“When we develop a new product and we have it on 51ˇçÁ÷S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, with one push of the button, everyone sees the exact same prices, the localized naming, product data, sales for today and the expected sales next week. 51ˇçÁ÷S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, helps us get a complete picture of the stock, capacity and the delivery times, ensuring a more efficient business for RIHO and a better experience for our customers all over the world,” said Guy Claesen, CEO of RIHO.

Canadian companies are embracing digital transformation like never before. A new 51ˇçÁ÷Canada study, conducted in partnership with IDC Canada, indicates that digital transformation will be the most valuable business investment Canadian companies can make as they enter 2022.

The survey discovered a big rise in enterprises which have fully integrated digital strategies into their core business. Nearly 40 per cent of those surveyed indicated having this integration which is three times more businesses than in 2020. This robust digital shift was critical for Canadian organizations surviving the initial shockwaves of the pandemic, delivering business impacts across efficiency, cost reductions, resiliency, decision support and intelligence, sustainability, and customer and employee experience.

“Digital transformation has been on the radar of Canadian businesses for years, but the last year has shown us that interest and value for it has soared,” said Brian Moore, Chief Operating Officer, 51ˇçÁ÷Canada. “We are seeing that organizations will need to continue to fully integrate their operations in the coming year to remain competitive. Simply put, a digital transformation strategy is no longer a ‘nice to have’ – it’s a necessity for organizations to thrive. In 2022, we will see Canadian businesses step away from tactical, reactive enhancements in exchange for developing digital transformation strategies that will enable them to achieve new levels of success.”

Data further showed businesses realize digital transformation is necessary and valuable:

  • 75 per cent of Canadian enterprises planned on migrating all or some of their applications and data to the cloud in 2021.
  • 84 per cent of respondents highlighted that investment into digital technologies either met or exceeded their expectations this year.
  • 84 per cent of leaders in the digital transformation space are using technologies to make incremental and continuous improvements to their core business.

Customer experience was also at the heart of the survey with most organizations surveyed (81 per cent) indicating a positive impact on financial performance because of strong client experience. This is an increase of 20 per cent over last year’s survey.

Research found a need for integrated collaboration between IT departments and lines of businesses to achieve digital transformation ambitions, with 40 per cent of IT and LOB respondents favouring a fully integrated digital plan into their enterprise strategy. This will help Canadian organizations make progress towards becoming digital leaders.

“After completing the sixth-annual 51ˇçÁ÷survey, IDC expects the benefits of cloud will continue to outpace the challenges, resulting in Canadian organizations using cloud services extensively across enterprise applications and infrastructure,” said Megha Kumar, Research Director, Software and Cloud Services at IDC.

(Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil Waututh)/Vancouver, BC) The First Nations Technology Council has launched a new project to advance reconciliation by decolonizing corporate systems and transforming the innovation, technology, and technology-enabled sectors both provincially and nationally.

“The Moving Beyond Inclusion: Partnerships and Reconciliation Project began in 2021 as a pilot program with five available partnership opportunities. 51ˇçÁ÷Canada was the first organization to sign on, with Pagefreezer, Microsoft, and Bench Accounting following shortly thereafter,” said Lauren Kelly, Director, Sector Transformation at the First Nations Technology Council. “We’ve seen that a lot of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work does not have enough emphasis on cultural safety and systems change to make a tangible impact. As a result, we saw a need to do more than focus on inclusion and design actions grounded in reconciliation with an Indigenous lens. That’s how Moving Beyond Inclusion was born.”

“The work we’re doing is advancing reconciliation by creating corporate cultures and environments that make space for Indigenous worldviews, culture, and thought leadership. We are doing this work in service of Indigenous peoples to increase influence, leadership, and self-determination in the digital age so we can design what our digital future looks like for ourselves,” said Denise Williams, Technology Council CEO. “In the process, we’re tackling racism, and exclusion in the tech sector head-on, both on a provincial and national scale. The ripple effects of this will likely be seen and felt internationally. We’re disrupting the status quo.”

The Technology Council, along with partners Chastity Davis-Alphonse, Shelley Joseph, and Reciprocal Consulting, supports program participants in developing a strategic and coordinated, actions-based approach to identifying and addressing barriers that prevent Indigenous persons from accessing employment, having a positive experience, and thriving within the respective company. Both participants and the Technology Council are aligned in their vision of increasing opportunities and leadership for Indigenous peoples in the technology and innovation sectors, developing a deeper understanding of race bias in these sectors, and creating tangible responses to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Actions while advancing meaningful reconciliation in a demonstrable way.

“Diverse perspectives fuel innovation,” said Cindy Fagen, Managing Director, 51ˇçÁ÷Labs Canada. “We joined the Moving Beyond Inclusion partnership with the First Nations Technology Council in acknowledgement of our responsibility to make reconciliation a focused pillar of our diversity, equity and inclusion strategy. Over the past few months, FNTC has guided us in examining our internal structures, policies and processes, and how they might be optimized for full inclusion of Indigenous people in our organization. We are excited to move from insights to action as we continue this journey alongside a community of technology industry peers.”

“While Pagefreezer has been driven by the values of inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunity since its inception, we realize that there’s more work to be done. We need to better educate ourselves, and carefully listen to Indigenous community leaders to learn what we can do to ensure equity in the workplace,” says Kaitlin Graves, Pagefreezer’s VP of People. “We also believe that we can play a part in the larger movement. With the First Nations Technology Council Moving Beyond Inclusion project, we saw an opportunity to illustrate for the BC Tech community how smaller start-ups can take meaningful steps towards reconciliation. It’s our goal to foster an equitable and inclusive work environment in which Indigenous people are well-represented, succeed professionally, and feel at home.”

“We recognize that workplace culture is built by the actions of the people within it and see this program as a tremendous opportunity for our teams to learn and engage in reconciliation,” explains David Seymour, Engineering Site Leader for Microsoft Vancouver. “We see the Moving Beyond Inclusion partnership as an important way to move forward in our journey to honour, share, celebrate and integrate Indigenous peoples, traditions and worldviews.”

“Bench is committed to the ongoing work of becoming an anti-racist and anti-oppressive company. And in the same breath, taking responsibility for the part we must play in the work of reconciliation and decolonization can feel daunting. We have so much gratitude and respect for the work and generosity of the First Nations Technology Council and the Moving Beyond Inclusion: Partnerships and Reconciliation Project. The Technology Council’s strategic and wise guidance are invaluable to us in these early days of what we know is a long journey ahead of us—one we are unwaveringly committed to.” —Ian Crosby, CEO of Bench Accounting

“The crisis caused by the pandemic affects downtown Montreal, but it has not made the city any less attractive, as shown by SAP’s decision to open a new office in Place Ville Marie. Our habits will be forever changed due to COVID-19 and it’s especially interesting to see this new office that will be designed to meet the needs of employees at the end of the pandemic. The city can keep counting on its exceptional workforce in the digital sector, which is key to the city’s economy and it will certainly play a critical role in its economic recovery. We are proud to be able to count on 51ˇçÁ÷Labs’ contribution to the downtown core,” said the Mayor of MontrĂŠal, ValĂŠrie Plante.

MontrĂŠal International, Greater Montreal’s economic promotion agency, is working with 51ˇçÁ÷Canada on its expansion. “2021 is starting strong! TORONTO, CAN — October 29, 2020 — A new 51ˇçÁ÷study conducted in partnership with IDC Canada discovered that companies that were well into their digital transformation, performed better through the COVID-19 pandemic, while companies without a robust digital strategy are being left behind.

The study found that while 95 per cent of enterprises surveyed had established a formal digital strategy, up from 85 per cent in 2019, most companies were at wildly different stages on their journey to becoming a digitally transformed “intelligent enterprise.”

Of the 17 per cent of Canadian enterprises identified as Intelligent Enterprise (IE) Leaders, 82 per cent have a digital strategy that is fully integrated into the core of the business or is complete and already producing significant results. At the other end of the spectrum, 98 per cent of Canadian enterprises categorized as IE Observers (14%) are only just beginning to build their digital strategies or executing on them. This divide in digital readiness has revealed a clear connection between COVID-19 resiliency and IE progress.

The study examined the impact of COVID-19 on organizations’ revenue, workforce, operational capacity, and facilities. While these core business functions have been impacted in two thirds of Canadian enterprises, IE Leaders have been more resilient, with 14 per cent of IE Leaders indicating they expect a revenue increase during the pandemic.

“Over the five years that we have been conducting this study with IDC, Canadian organizations have progressed well on their journey to becoming Intelligent Enterprise Leaders. However, the pandemic has reinforced just how vital a fully incorporated digital strategy is to a business’s ability to be agile and — Ěýultimately resilient — in the face of crisis and major shifts in the way they do business,” said Sam Masri, Chief Operating Officer, 51ˇçÁ÷Canada. “The silver lining is that organizations are realizing the value of technology and the need for a strategic approach to transformation. This shows promise in bridging the digital divide in Canada.”

“Prior to COVID-19 we made some important decisions regarding our infrastructure that enabled us, through the rst few months of the pandemic, to be agile and nimble while we supported our Guests and Team Members,” said Alicia Samuel, Vice President Information Technology at Longos. “This meant that at the start of the pandemic, our e-commerce site was available to our Guests while we had unprecedented volumes of traffic on our websites, and we were able to shift quickly to introduce options such as “Buy Online Pick Up In-Store”. Our infrastructure decisions and strong executive leadership during COVID-19 enabled us to continue to service our Guests and take care of our Team Members.”

The new study also found key attributes that have helped IE Leaders remain resilient through the pandemic:

  • 49 per cent of IE Leaders are very willing to adjust their workforce mix to support digital initiatives, compared with only 7 per cent of IE Observers.
  • 91 per cent of IE Leaders believe it is very important to improve employee experience while improving customer experience, compared to 42 per cent of IE Observers.
  • 47 per cent of IE Leaders have a change management strategy that is fully integrated into the digital strategy, as compared with IE Observers, who either are still developing a change management strategy or do not have one at all.

“According to our survey, 78 per cent of IE leaders utilize digital technologies to make incremental and continuous changes to the core business,” said Tony Olvet, Group Vice President, Research Domains, IDC Canada. “Through COVID-19, this has allowed IE Leaders to remain agile and prioritize projects that enable them to stay resilient over the crisis and provide a foundation that will support recovery and growth in the long run – such as building resilient supply chains. In contrast, IE Observers have largely been focused on more fundamental initiatives to shore up internal operations, such as planning and finance.”
