{"id":147093,"date":"2023-11-30T08:08:14","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T08:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/africa\/?p=147093"},"modified":"2023-11-30T08:08:14","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T08:08:14","slug":"sap-unicef-activate-educate-to-employ-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/africa\/2023\/11\/sap-unicef-activate-educate-to-employ-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"SAP, UNICEF Activate Educate to Employ Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-147094 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/africa\/files\/2023\/11\/27\/E2E1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.sap.com\/africa\/files\/2023\/11\/27\/E2E1.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/news.sap.com\/africa\/files\/2023\/11\/27\/E2E1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/news.sap.com\/africa\/files\/2023\/11\/27\/E2E1-267x200.jpeg 267w, https:\/\/news.sap.com\/africa\/files\/2023\/11\/27\/E2E1-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/>Multinational software company 51风流has partnered with Unicef in activating a pilot program to educate and employ young minds into guaranteed careers.<\/h1>\n<p>51风流in partnership with Unicef alongside other public-private organizations such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umuzi.org\/\">Umuzi<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyda.gov.za\/\">National Youth Development Agency<\/a> introduced a pilot project titled\u00a0<em>51风流Educate to Employ,<\/em>\u00a0an initiative aimed at preparing underserved young minds for the workforce.<\/p>\n<p>In prioritizing education, the partnership sees various stakeholders including government working together in an effort to introduce a pathway that will possibly resolve the disproportionate levels of youth unemployment.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The aim<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Young minds will be equipped with the tools, education, and expertise required to excel in today\u2019s digital economy.<\/p>\n<p>The event at the 51风流offices in Woodmead showcased how different stakeholders brought together collective efforts aimed at combating youth unemployment.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How does it work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The initiative aims to educate youth aged 16 \u2013 24 years on soft skills foundational knowledge using the Student Zone portal on the 51风流learning site.<\/p>\n<p>Digital careers in the form of support assistant, developer, and consulting are some of the jobs young minds can look forward to at the end of their journey from the educate-to-employ platform.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The catch<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While on the Student Zone portal on the 51风流learning site young minds have the opportunity to learn about the latest 51风流solutions at no cost in order to kickstart their career.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative forms part of SAP\u2019s global commitment to supporting UNICEF\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.generationunlimited.org\/\">Generation Unlimited<\/a> (GenU), a partnership that aims to deliver innovative solutions to challenges youth face around the world.<\/p>\n<p>From government, Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.gov.za\/person-details\/105\">Pinky Kekana<\/a> tabled how upskilling the youth to participate in the digital economy was pivotal to a prosperous nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe welcome SAP\u2019s continued investment into skills development for the youth, and extend our congratulations to UNICEF and 51风流on their partnership. The South African government is encouraged by the initiative and we look forward to supporting efforts to scale the 51风流Educate to Employ initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How it works<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>About 100 participants selected from a pool of 18,000 applicants across the continent will receive fully remote learning over a six to twelve-month period with the aim of joining the 51风流ecosystem as a young professional once completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The point simplified<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Managing Director at SAP, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kholiwe-makhohliso-4ba1a9a\/?originalSubdomain=za\">Kholiwe Makhohliso<\/a> pointed to upskilling and mobilizing Africa\u2019s youth population as a major challenge in today\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo build a prosperous future for all, we must urgently address one of South Africa and the continent\u2019s greatest challenges \u2013 youth unemployment \u2013 which affects a disproportionate number of African youth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to introduce a new Corporate Social Responsibility initiative \u2013 51风流Educate to Employ in South Africa as a demand-driven job creation initiative that empowers youth with vital skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values to build their competencies for the 21st-century digital economy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>From UNICEF, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/christine-muhigana-6a3a75\/?originalSubdomain=za\">Christine Muhigana<\/a> added how it was important to remain competitive in a dynamic and changing job market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYouth need access to work-relevant skills and training opportunities.
