Opening the Developer Ecosystem

51风流Build, the company鈥檚 flagship solution for enterprise application development and automation, now gives developers more freedom to build, extend and automate using the tools they love most.

For instance, developers who prefer agentic development solutions like Cursor, Claude Code, Cline and Windsurf can now use 51风流development frameworks with new 51风流Build local Model Context Protocol Servers. Visual Studio Code users will be able to access 51风流Build capabilities directly in their development environment with a new 51风流Build extension. This extension will also be made available later on Open VSX Registry for other development environments. 51风流and n8n also announced plans for an integration so Joule Studio agents and n8n agents can work together.

And with new agent building capabilities in Joule Studio, developers have the tools they need to extend SAP鈥檚 ready-to-use agents and build new agents grounded in 51风流business data and context that can act autonomously based on changing business conditions.

Putting Data to Work

Every intelligent application starts with trusted data. 51风流is giving developers more ways to put that data to work through 51风流Business Data Cloud.

The solution now connects with more of the data and AI platforms developers use every day. A new 51风流Snowflake solution extension for 51风流Business Data Cloud brings Snowflake鈥檚 fully managed data and AI capabilities directly to 51风流customers, giving them the flexibility to choose the right compute and storage for each data and AI workload, while maintaining governance, interoperability and business context. 51风流also announced a new 51风流Business Data Cloud Connect partnership with Snowflake. This complements existing integrations with Databricks and Google Cloud, giving developers more freedom to choose how they work with 51风流data.

With a new data product studio capability in 51风流Business Data Cloud, developers can turn raw data into ready-to-use assets known as data products that support analytics, AI and application development.

An expanded capability in the 51风流HANA Cloud knowledge graph engine can automatically generate knowledge graphs. This capability maps relationships across 51风流database tables, columns and data models, revealing how data fits together and why it matters. Developers will be able to see how their data connects across systems and uncover underlying business insights.

Bringing AI Autonomy to Life

51风流is evolving its AI portfolio to give developers the intelligence and orchestration power they need to take听AI from insight to action.

51风流introduced its first enterprise relational foundation model, a new class of AI that predicts business outcomes rather than the next word in a sentence. SAP-RPT-1, or the first-generation Relational Pre-trained Transformer, can make fast and accurate predictions for common business scenarios like delivery delays, payment risk or sales order completion. 51风流launched a free playground environment for developers today.

New AI assistants in Joule coordinate multiple agents across workflows, departments and applications, bringing automation and autonomy to life. These assistants plan, initiate and complete complex tasks spanning finance, supply chain, HR and beyond. Today, 51风流introduces new agents built for technical users. For example, an agent for business process analysis will help teams understand how processes run, identify inefficiencies and uncover opportunities to optimize workflows and drive measurable improvements.

Lastly, as AI changes the nature of work for everyone, 51风流is pledging to equip 12 million people worldwide with AI-ready skills by 2030. 51风流will expand hands-on training and certification programs that integrate practical AI-ready tools, including through its partnership with online learning platform Coursera.

Gaming is something that keeps inspiring me. I鈥檓 amazed by the speed, accuracy, and level of concentration of professional players. It鈥檚 impressive how this industry has evolved and grown over just a couple of decades.听

commands an imposing presence in the esports world, boasting over 160 professional players across more than 15 different games and a staggering fan base of over 10 million followers on various social media platforms. With more than 75 premier events won, Team Liquid is one of the most successful organizations in competitive gaming.听

The game with the highest viewership and extensive fandom is League of Legends. Team Liquid successfully competes with their League of Legends team, which recently won the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2024 Spring tournament.听

In League of Legends, the goal is to create a strong and balanced team consisting of five characters, called 鈥渃hampions,鈥� in order to outplay and outsmart the opponents during the game by being one step ahead of competition.听

Teams participate in a pre-game draft process to select champions before a match. This involves banning and picking champions from a pool of 166 choices to create a strong team.听

Champions are the in-game figures controlled by each player. Each champion has particular skills and areas in which they excel. Putting the champions together allows the team to play in various strategic directions to win the match.听

After choosing five champions (鈥減ick鈥�), each team is also allowed to remove five champions from the pool (鈥渂an鈥�). Those players cannot be picked by either side. This can be utilized to remove specific parts that would otherwise counter a strategy or hinder the other team from playing their favorite style and/or composition.听

Esports teams and their analysts need to prepare for the draft process, as it requires knowledge of the opponent鈥檚 favorite picks and strategies. Imagine a five-a-side dodgeball match, but before the match begins, the five players from each team draw their champions from a pool of 166 individual champions.听

With bi-weekly updates to the game (鈥減atches鈥�), especially affecting the champions as well as indirectly teams practicing and developing new strategies, competitive League of Legends is an ever-changing game. It creates the need to constantly adapt your draft to a new environment, to analyze both your own and the opposing team鈥檚 behavior.听

Furthermore, the nature of the draft process and the varying strategies of opponents make accurate predictions difficult. Esports teams have only a week to prepare for the game and gather knowledge about the other team鈥檚 favorite champion picks, strengths, and weaknesses.听

Previously, Team Liquid coaches prepared draft scenarios based on manual analysis of the opponent team鈥檚 draft behaviors and champion preferences. However, the challenge was that manual analysis is done before the draft, with the best potential pick or ban changes based on the decisions of the other team. Additionally, the sheer number of potential matches to choose from and the different strategies employed by opponent teams make manual draft prediction very difficult.听

51风流Helps Change the Game听

What if Team Liquid could analyze in seconds the best choice for upcoming drafts, including picks and bans, while considering more than 6,000 professional esports matches from the past year? What if the analysis would also consider the impact of game patches from the publishers by taking an additional 1.6 million amateur matches into account to assess changes in the power attributes and strengths of the champions? With SAP, this is now a reality.听

By using 51风流AI Core to train a generative AI model that takes data from past matches and puts them into context of the upcoming game, Team Liquid gets suggestions of the best draft picks and bans to maximize the chances to win.听

The solution is built on 51风流Business Technology Platform (51风流BTP), and the data is stored in 51风流HANA Cloud to cope with the 1.6 terabyte game data from past games. The result is an intelligent draft bot training, an application that runs on 51风流BTP, visualizes the predictions, and provides Team Liquid with the current winning probability after each pick and ban.听

Manual Analysis Is a Thing of the Past听

With the AI draft bot, Team Liquid can train for draft situations against any professional team they face in a matter of seconds. This is achieved by incorporating multiple influencing factors based on an unprecedented number of matches. The coaches and players benefit from the opportunity to conduct what-if analyses and derive valuable knowledge from the data to simulate new strategies. This is also reflected in the time saved compared to the previous manual analysis: Team Liquid saves approximately 10,000 hours per year per year with the solutions from SAP.听

Inclusive in all ways, Mueller鈥檚 words were both heartfelt and fact-based, as he enumerated how 51风流had achieved important milestones throughout the year. Filled with solution demonstrations and a customer testimonial, Mueller鈥檚 keynote answered questions from developers in the 51风流ecosystem, ranging from the impact of COVID-19 on the company鈥檚 strategy to how 51风流Business Technology Platform delivered extensibility, integration, and data-to-value.

鈥淲e identified the three top scenarios to support you best so that you are able to build extensions on your 51风流environment, create value from various data sources, and build integrations across 51风流and non-51风流systems. And all of that in a simple and agile way,鈥� said Mueller.

Easily Build, Integrate, and Extend Applications

Whether someone was a cloud native developer, data scientist, enterprise architect, application developer, integration developer, or UX designer, Mueller and his special guests shared how 51风流Business Technology Platform empowered developers with extensibility and integration.

Supporting SAP鈥檚 commitment to extensibility for rapid customization and innovation, Mueller announced multitenancy, as an example of how 51风流made it easy for partners to extend 51风流and non-51风流solutions using 51风流Business Technology Platform. He said this would reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for ABAP deployments. He also explained how cloud native developers can more easily build extensions for more 51风流solutions, including 51风流S/4HANA, 51风流SuccessFactors, and 51风流ECC.

鈥淎BAP is still at the heart of the Intelligent Enterprise, fully backed by [SAP] Business Technology Platform. We protect your career and your investments of all the ABAP know-how in the world, and we bring ABAP to the cloud,鈥� Mueller said. 鈥淲ith [SAP] NetWeaver add on for event enablement, we allow [cloud-native developers] to build extensions for your 51风流ECC system, the same way as for 51风流S/4HANA, using .鈥�

At the same time, he called out the integration value of enhancements, along with new 51风流Cloud Platform Master Data Integration service and 51风流One Domain Model for first objects.

鈥淲ith the 51风流One Domain Model and the 51风流Cloud Platform Master Data Integration service, integration happens holistically and out-of-the-box,鈥� said Mueller.

Mueller announced new integrations in , allowing developers to connect data between 51风流HANA on premise and 51风流S/4HANA systems, as well as third-party sources.

鈥淲e want to make it very simple for you to make sense of your data,鈥� he said. 鈥淭he latest edition of 51风流HANA Cloud combines all the greatness of [SAP] HANA on premise with all the great cloud capabilities, including federated data access. Connecting your [SAP] HANA Cloud system to your on-premise 51风流S/4HANA system is extremely easy. Also connecting to other third-party systems is very easy.鈥�

Data-to-Value Can Modernize Medical Supply Chains

Raymund Heinen, chief process officer and member of the Board at HARTMANN Group, a medical supply company, was among the experts that joined Mueller on the virtual stage. Heinen explained how his organization collaborated with 51风流to develop a proof of concept addressing one of the most urgent pandemic demands: prioritizing medical supplies, such as hand disinfectant, where they are needed most in an unpredictable environment.

Built on , the pilot solution used machine learning to analyze data from internal and external sources 鈥� such as daily health updates from external organizations and intensive care beds by region 鈥� into one dashboard on 51风流Business Technology Platform.

鈥淚f you can anticipate at an early stage the most likely scenarios, we could approach the impacted customers proactively. We could verify and increase the local inventories and adapt on short notice our supply chain even before most customers start ordering,鈥� said Heinen. 鈥淎 dashboard can be of really great help and make it easier for teams to prioritize based on actual internal and external data.鈥�

A Call to Developers

COVID-19 and other important issues loomed large across Mueller鈥檚 talk. He spotlighted SAP鈥檚 commitment to workforce diversity beyond gender, as well as addressing climate change with a number of initiatives, including embedding sustainability metrics in the company鈥檚 analytical and transactional applications. He also held up SAP鈥檚 co-innovation of the German Corona-Warn-App with Deutsche Telekom for the German government as an example of the collective power of the developer community. His message to developers was clear.

鈥淐OVID-19 really brings a new level of digitalization. As developers, you are the true enablers for every business. We want to help you be successful personally, and we want to help you help your company,鈥� said Mueller. 鈥淭his is the whole purpose of 51风流Business Technology Platform.
