The PwC global network was an early adopter of RISE with SAP. We are now the world鈥檚 largest user of S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. But the decision to invest at that scale didn鈥檛 come lightly.

Over the last seven years, PwC has made signi铿乧ant investments in digital transformation. Our business urgency was driven by the need to scale global delivery, reimagine operations to manage costs, and empower our people with powerful digital experiences. The 铿乺m made signi铿乧ant investments and innovations in cloud, advanced analytics, and GenAI. But we recognized that modernizing our ERP core was a foundational dependency to applying these technologies to our operations, and to achieving the global, cost, and experience objectives.

We learned that traditional ROI methods for S/4HANA migration don鈥檛 always yield 铿乬ures that will impress a CFO. Licensing and implementation costs stack up high relative to value from conventional process improvements from new functionality. But considering the technology suite 鈥 centered on the resilient S/4HANA applications and extended by new technologies and cloud services 鈥 the potential emerges for ERP to become a modern ERP core. And a modern ERP core is key to unlocking the next wave of automation and intelligence in business operations.

PwC recognized that future-proof business systems should enable four digital pillars 鈥 each representing a shift in how users will interact with business systems and data:

To enable these pillars across our technological ecosystem, our ERP stack needed to be more modern and more digital. So, we evolved our view of what a digital core must include. What are the elements of a modern ERP that can make it a valuable foundation for an intelligent enterprise? Here are the elements we have applied at PwC and are helping our clients apply:

business data model chart

These are all critical elements. Without them, it becomes signi铿乧antly harder to build reliable, agentic AI for business processes that include ERP functionality or data. They also combine to make intelligence possible. To predict 铿乶ancial performance, for example, data must become more reliable at the source, as it鈥檚 transacted and classi铿乪d. Maintaining reliable data at the source has traditionally been dif铿乧ult for humans, but automations and co-pilots will help.

It is still important to develop a set of business improvement targets that can be traced to new functionality and process simpli铿乧ations. It鈥檚 necessary for leadership approval and useful in motivating functional managers to help drive the program. But effective modernization should also aim to deliver these integral features that establish ERP as a foundational enabler for the four digital pillars. This is the digital core imperative.

The PwC global network now has multiple territories live on S/4HANA and is adding more sites quickly. We have digitally mapped each business process, deployed global standard data models, extended the solution with our own cloud-native creations (winning an unprecedented three 51风流innovation awards in a row), and began testing how to use 51风流applications with a conversational AI experience.

Achieving a digital core 鈥 combined with the lessons from our own transformation journey- has become a pivotal lens through which we can now guide clients.

So, hold on to your seats 鈥 we鈥檙e launching the next generation of business applications, and we鈥檙e just beginning to see how far this can take our 铿乺m and our clients.

We built for what鈥檚 next, so you can get there now.

听 has taken top honours at the African 51风流User Group鈥檚 (AFSUG) inaugural 51风流Business Technology Platform (BTP) Hackathon finale, which took place live at the recent听听conference, AFSUG鈥檚 premier 51风流user conference for Africa.
The AFSUG 51风流BTP Hackathon invited AFSUG members – including customers, partners or joint teams – to submit creative, impactful use cases or projects using 51风流BTP components such as 51风流Build, 51风流HANA Cloud, 51风流Integration Suite and ABAP Cloud.
After an intensive eight-week development sprint, three teams, who were shortlisted from an original 18 entrants, were invited听to present their听real-world, use case-based business solutions at the event. These included: PwC South Africa; , a manufacturer and distributor of heavy equipment for sectors including mining, construction and agriculture; and听the , one of the world鈥檚 foremost diamond producers by value and volume.听Each team showcased the solutions they had explored, designed and built using 51风流BTP.
In a closely contested finale, the SAPHILA audience voted live to award the PwC South Africa AI-driven legal services solution first place.

PwC South Africa simplifies legal document processing and understanding with AI

PwC鈥檚 winning solution,听LegalEase, is听a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform designed to streamline the understanding and processing of legal documents. It aims to address common challenges such as unexpected charges, misleading billing, difficulties in cancelling contracts and the complexity of legal language.
Citing consumer experience statistics during the presentation, the PwC team noted that 91 percent of consumers have signed contracts without reading them.
Key features of the LegalEase solution included document scanning and summarisation, an interactive Q&A module, and translation capabilities into the user鈥檚 native language. The solution also incorporated a knowledge base of related services and policies to improve user awareness and drive upselling opportunities.
From a technical perspective, the team integrated prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation and knowledge graphs, using SAP’s retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) approach, enabling smart prompt engineering, document embedding and contextual queries.
Future use cases for the proof-of-concept could include seamless onboarding of new employees, allowing them to familiarise themselves with company policies in an interactive way; insight into customers鈥 understanding of the organisation鈥檚 services; and AI-assistance on scope validation and obligations of contracts and statements of work.

Debswana solution tackles overtime risk and streamlines HR processes

As the runner up, the Debswana Diamond Company team presented a compelling use case focused on听overtime management and compliance, a critical concern for the organisation, given that overtime affects听approximately 80 percent听of its workforce of over 4,400 employees.
The team highlighted how ineffective overtime management could not only inflate operational costs, but also compromise听employee well-being, with issues such as fatigue and insufficient take-home pay linked directly to unscheduled or poorly managed overtime.
The current overtime process at Debswana is manual and paper-based, managed through spreadsheets and reliant on negative time-tracking, a method that depends heavily on manager and employee inputs for both planning and capture. This creates risks in governance, data accuracy and training effectiveness, especially given that the process mainly affects frontline mining staff.
To address these challenges, the Debswana team developed an听AI-powered overtime assistant听using 51风流BTP services. The application enables managers to plan overtime more efficiently by inputting a simple command, prompting the system to generate a听historical-data-informed overtime schedule. The AI evaluates employee work histories to avoid overloading those who have already clocked high overtime hours, improving safety and fairness issues.

Bell Equipment streamlines听shipment tracking process with automation

In third place, Bell Equipment addressed a critical logistics challenge: accurately matching inbound shipments with their expected delivery dates, essential information for effective planning of customer part deliveries and meeting demand forecasts.
Previously, capturing sea freight shipment data was a manual, time-consuming task, and any changes to estimated delivery dates would not be reflected in the system, introducing significant business risk. In some cases, the company had to resort to costly air freight to meet customer commitments.
To overcome this, the Bell Equipment team designed an intelligently automated solution that could create inbound delivery records and maintain accurate estimated times of arrival (ETAs). This would allow the company鈥檚 materials planning system to proactively flag potential stock shortages and enable early intervention to mitigate risk.
The solution leverages听51风流Build Process Automation听for bot and workflow automation, and听51风流Cloud Application Programming (CAP)听for the development of the application interface. Key functionalities include scheduled, fully automated execution without manual intervention; a bot that monitors a designated Outlook inbox for incoming shipment documents such as waybills and freight invoices; the automatic download and storage of these documents, triggering document classification and data extraction processes.
Using听optical character recognition (OCR),听the system identifies and classifies different types of documents. Each document type is then processed through a tailored automation pipeline. Following this step, the solution cross-checks the extracted information against existing records. If a corresponding shipment already exists, it is updated; if not, a new record is created.

Participating with passion and purpose

, BTP product management at SAP, reflected on the core objectives of the hackathon initiative and the journey that brought customers and partners together to explore the full capabilities of the 51风流BTP.
“The main objective was to ensure strong collaboration between 51风流and participating customers, and to provide our local BTP customers with a practical opportunity to explore the platform,” said Winkler. “We wanted customers to truly understand what 51风流BTP can offer and to begin building real solutions on the platform.”

The initiative began with an ideation phase in the previous year, followed by an onboarding programme to ensure all participants had a clear understanding of the available tools and services. A team of 10 51风流coaches supported the journey, helping participants shape their use cases and align their work with key听51风流BTP components.

鈥淲e had 18 amazing teams enter the hackathon, each of them using 51风流BTP to develop impressive, real-world solutions. A key criterion in evaluating these was the innovative use of less commonly used BTP services, such as artificial intelligence, to demonstrate what鈥檚 possible on the platform.鈥
Product managers from 51风流participated in the judging process, providing a global perspective and ensuring technical and business relevance in the final selection.
Winkler also acknowledged the effort and creativity of all participating teams. 鈥淭he quality of the solutions presented was outstanding, not only from the finalists seen on stage, but from all 18 teams. The decisions weren鈥檛 easy, and we had several close calls between second and third place, and even between first and second.
Says Amanda Gibbs, AFSUG CEO: 鈥淔irstly, AFSUG would like to congratulate the PwC South Africa team for winning our first 51风流BTP hackathon –听your energy and ideas were truly inspiring. Secondly, a heartfelt thank you to all the teams involved for their significant time investment and commitment. It is inspiring to witness what can be achieved in just eight weeks using 51风流BTP; we鈥檝e seen incredible progress and innovation.
鈥淚t has also been a real privilege to work alongside the incredible 51风流team from Germany and our dedicated local 51风流South Africa team, and AFSUG extends its gratitude for the many hours of input, guidance and unwavering support given to our local participants.鈥

By getting certain fundamentals right, companies can deliver a great Customer Experience (CX) no matter what industry or region they operate in. , Regional Director for CX Customer Success: Middle East and Africa at SAP, unpacks what it means to deliver a great customer experience based on observations in 2024.

The customer is still king, and delivering a positive, memorable experience remains a top strategic objective for any company.

A PwC report highlights that nearly three quarters (73%) of consumers say CX is a crucial factor influencing their purchasing decisions. In a survey of 2000 South African consumers, 55% said at a grocery retailer, healthcare facility or fashion outlet.

A good Customer Experience means different things to different people, however. Regional differences driven by cultural differences and varying levels of sophistication means there is no one-size-fits-all solution to delivering a great CX.

For many consumers, a positive CX means seamless, fast and personalised buying journeys. For others, it’s quick, responsive customer service. Organisations need to put themselves in their customer shoes to understand what the different expectations are for the various customer segments.

Key differences in CX expectations across industries and regions

The regional differences in CX was made clear during a recent trip. Traveling through the US, the experience in bigger cities and metros was built on automation and efficiency, with extensive use of technology. In the smaller towns, the focus was more on personal touch and a slower pace.

Similar disparities are apparent in the Middle East. Companies in Dubai seek customer experiences built on efficiency, with a strong focus on digital experiences. In Saudi Arabia, companies focus on building relationships with customers, and prioritise maintaining those relationships over the long term.

Back home, recent interactions with companies in Cape Town and Johannesburg revealed disparities between two of the main business hubs in South Africa. As the country’s main industrial hub, Johannesburg’s business sector is led by manufacturing and services industries, which have different expectations of CX to those of companies in Cape Town, where the retail and financial sectors dominates.

The danger for companies seeking to enhance their CX efforts is that they fall back on cookie-cutter strategies. A successful CX initiative in the manufacturing sector – for example for Sasol – is vastly different to a successful CX initiative for a retailer such as Shoprite. Getting the balance right for your business will be the fundamental element of CX success in the months ahead.

Fundamentals of great CX

To deliver a consistent, positive experience, companies leverage technologies that can remove friction from customers’ lives and ensure a memorable and seamless journey across every touchpoint.

The use of powerful cloud technologies allows companies to deploy, test and quickly scale up new customer-facing innovations, or wind down CX-related activities that are not producing the desired results. In today鈥檚 world this agility is a must have as the days of long go-to-market periods are gone.

However, understanding the fundamentals underpinning a consistently positive customer experience is even more important than the technology mix that is deployed to enable it. Three of the most important CX fundamentals in 2024 and beyond include:

1 Understanding unique customer needs

Cultivating a deep understanding of customer needs and expectations is a first step in developing an effective customer experience strategy. By using data and technology to gain insights into customer expectations and preferences, companies can design experiences that feel tailored and relevant.

This contributes to increased customer satisfaction, improved retention, and building trust. Companies leveraging advanced analytics and cloud-based CX technology platforms such as 51风流Commerce Cloud can shift their CX strategies beyond assumptions to actionable insights. Powerful new AI-powered technologies accelerate companies’ ability to act on data-driven insights, ensuring scalable and adaptive CX strategies that consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.

2 Hyper-personalisation

Companies that deliver relevant and meaningful customer experiences have a distinct advantage over their peers.

Here, technology is crucial, as it’s the cornerstone of hyper-personalisation. Advanced tools and cloud-based platforms enable companies to collect, process and analyse vast amounts of customer data that can be applied to CX strategies.

Tools such as CRM systems and real-time analytics powered by AI enable companies to gain a 360-degree view of each customer, while marketing automation tools ensure each customer receives the most relevant message or offer at the right time and via their preferred channel.

3 A focus on building trust

Trust is the foundation of all customer relationships and a key ingredient in effective CX. Without trust, even the most advanced personalisation efforts simply won’t break through. But trust is hard-won and easily lost.

Disappearing loyalty points that expire before customers can redeem their value create negative perceptions that erode customer trust. Similarly, rewards campaigns that expect customers to navigate lengthy and complex redemption processes will likely fail to meet customer expectations, undermining broader CX efforts.

Modern CX technology solutions help companies build and maintain trust by prioritising transparency, privacy, customer engagement and value. AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants ensure honest and clear communication with customers, preventing misunderstandings. And AI-powered feedback platforms help companies listen actively to customer concerns, ensuring they take corrective steps to protect and reinforce trust.

In conclusion

As we head into 2025 take the lessons from 2024 and do not forget about the customer in your 2025 CX strategy. Start with understanding their expectations and build appropriate experiences based on their segment, be it regional, industry or even maturity level.

African enterprises are scaling up their adoption of new technologies to protect against disruption and build new capabilities that can drive their growth and innovation efforts.

While technology adoption among African enterprises lags much of the developed world, this picture is changing. found that 87% of CEOs in Africa’s financial services sector are experiencing significant technology-driven disruption to their business models, compared to only 50% of CEOs globally.

agency (UNCTAD) found that the key to Africa’s development is the expansion of knowledge-intensive services such as technology-based and fintech services. The report highlighted the importance of harnessing the transformative power of digitalisation for development and value creation in African economies.

Key factors driving enterprise tech adoption

Africa’s accelerated adoption of new technologies is driven by significant economic growth and an expanding youth population. The continent’s youth population, the largest and fastest-growing of any region, is increasingly tech-savvy, thanks in large part to the pervasive use of mobile technologies throughout the continent, driving greater demand for digital services and customer experiences.

At an enterprise level, companies are undergoing digital transformation initiatives in an effort to modernise their operations and adapt to changing market dynamics. This includes the leveraging of cloud technologies, data analytics, Internet of Things and, increasingly, Business AI. By leveraging the latest technologies, African enterprises can leapfrog their development and attain cutting-edge capabilities that can improve their global competitiveness.

The rapid adoption of new technologies can also be seen as a mitigating factor to protect against external shocks such as the pandemic and ongoing geopolitical conflict. Digital technologies are proven to improve resilience and business continuity during times of upheaval, leading African enterprises to prioritise investments in technology to withstand future disruptions to their operations.

A toolkit for accelerated tech adoption

As the pace of change continues to accelerate, enterprises are in a race to build the capabilities needed to drive efficiency, optimisation, innovation and growth while meeting rapidly-shifting customer expectations.

In this environment, effective collaboration and integration within the business has become essential. Organisations that can integrate teams across different departments and functions are better positioned to maximise the value of their technology investments. The seamless integration between systems and processes also enhances efficiency, productivity and organisational agility.

Enterprises should also take care to improve their vendor management capabilities to build stronger partnerships with third-party providers. By leveraging the expertise and global learnings from tech vendors and their partners, African enterprises gain access to expertise, support and resources that enhance the overall technology lifecycle.

Organisations should also strive to embed a culture of innovation and continuous improvement throughout every layer of the business. By creating an enabling environment for the exploration of new ideas, technologies and use cases, organisations can accelerate tech adoption and unlock opportunities for optimisation and value creation.

Keys to ongoing value realisation for new tech

Once new technologies are implemented in an enterprise, the focus should shift to realising ongoing value from the investment. Here, five key factors determine a company’s success at maximising the value derived from technology, including:

1 Setting clear objectives and ensuring close alignment between business and IT;

2 Conducting continuous evaluation and monitoring to assess whether the expected value is being realised, and identifying areas for improvement at a business and user level;

3 Taking an agile approach to technology implementation that allows for flexibility and responsiveness to changing business needs. By breaking down digital transformation projects into smaller, more iterative steps, organisations enable quicker delivery of value, with the added benefit of easier course-correction should existing approaches not deliver the desired value;

4 Prioritising user adoption and training, which can significantly limit the success of new technology deployments. Care should be taken to ensure employees are proficient in using the new capabilities through effective and ongoing change management; and

5 Leveraging data-driven decision-making through data analytics and business intelligence tools that help organisations identify areas of improvement and opportunities to deepen innovation and value-creation efforts, all based on accurate, real-time business insights.

By unlocking the value of the new capabilities for end-users, African enterprises can drive adoption and ensure the business benefits from its investment into the latest technologies, building greater resilience, efficiency and growth.

African enterprises are transforming their operations through the accelerating adoption of cloud technologies.

As companies continue to face disruption and a challenging operating environment, their ability to leverage technology to build greater agility, resilience and sustainability has become paramount. And at the centre of this transformation is the cloud.

A report by McKinsey revealed that African businesses could benefit from a healthy share of .

According to PwC’s Africa Cloud Business Survey 2023, , with 61% of companies expected to have moved all their operations to the cloud within the next two years.

Key challenges to accelerated cloud adoption

However, same PwC report highlights key constraints to broader cloud adoption in the region, including budget pressure, skills shortages, cybersecurity risks and regulatory challenges.

51风流research found that four in five African organisations reported a negative impact stemming from a lack of tech skills, including customer loss (60%), diminished innovation capacity (53%), and an inability to meet customer needs (46%).

Budget pressures persist in the wake of the constrained economy left in the wake of the pandemic and exacerbated by ongoing supply chain pressures and geopolitical upheaval. And Africa’s regulatory landscape continues to introduce complexity as each of the continent’s 54 countries require compliance with its own set of laws and regulations.

Considering the foundation of many organisations’ business transformation efforts is the adoption of cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) capabilities, one of the most important aspects of business transformation lies in the domain of cybersecurity.

Vital role of cloud ERP adds pressure to secure

Cloud ERP sits at the heart of every company’s business transformation. The adoption of cloud ERP enables companies to focus on improving and automating their business processes, with the cloud allowing companies to focus on application management while the provider helps ensure systems remain stable, secure and compliant.

Companies are also increasingly adopting a clean core with optimal master data quality and perfected business process governance, delivering improved maintainability, reduced complexity, and lower total cost of ownership.

The rush to leverage powerful artificial intelligence capabilities underpinned by accurate, real-time business data facilitated by cloud ERP, can also improve and accelerate decision-making throughout every layer of the business. Business AI tools such as SAP’s Joule facilitate not only the collaboration between end-users but also how end-users are interacting with core business systems, enabling them to work more efficiently and resolve issues much quicker.

But the critical role of cloud ERP and the wealth of business data such systems contain makes them attractive targets for threat actors, driving the need for improved cybersecurity.

Securing critical cloud ERP processes

Cybersecurity is one of the defining business and societal challenges of our time, featuring regularly on the World Economic Forum’s top ten lists of greatest risks.

African enterprises have taken note: a KPMG report found that cybersecurity strategy among African enterprises is more mature than ever, . Considering that more than half of organisations operating in Africa have fallen victim to cybercrime, having a robust, effective cybersecurity strategy in place is critical.

Such a strategy should focus on three important aspects, namely:

  • Defending against cyberattacks, which can take the form of ransomware, social engineering attacks such as phishing, and distributed denial of service (DDoS). Attack methods constantly evolve, making traditional forms of defence inadequate for most organisations’ needs.
  • Compliance with regulations, which can become a cost multiplier when it comes to cybersecurity. Africa is home to 54 distinct regulatory regimes each with varying requirements that companies must keep track of. A robust strategy supported by the latest technologies can greatly simplify this aspect and support companies to operate on the right side of regulatory compliance.
  • Mitigating the skills shortage, which is a global issue but one amplified by Africa’s relatively lower skills base. Cybersecurity is a growing field that requires specialised knowledge and training, and many organisations here and abroad simply cannot keep up with recruiting and retaining scarce security skills.

A cloud ERP system alleviates pressure on all of the above three fronts. By providing a consistent and harmonised architecture from the operating system all the down to the network, cloud ERP greatly simplifies and enhances enterprise security efforts.

And with one point of contact, companies can resolve security and resilience issues quickly and with the support of larger cloud vendors’ extensive talent pools and deep skills bases.

The renewable energy solutions distributor relies on SAP鈥檚 integrated offering to accelerate growth and the goals of rapid globalization. VP Solar migrated to the new 51风流S/4HANA Cloud solution in just over six months

Vimercate, June 12, 2023 has been operating since 1999 in the distribution of components and systems for renewable energy and energy saving. Over time, VP Solar has built and consolidated a reputation as a reliable partner with a clear B2B positioning, expert in selecting and testing innovative solutions to be proposed systemically thanks to the engineering approach of its research and development team. With a family business footprint, VP Solar is committed to sustainability through a long-term vision, contributing to the production and use of decentralized, sustainable, emission-free and affordable energy.

Based in the province of Treviso (Italy), with 45 employees and a turnover of 300 million euros, the vision of VP Solar has always been to offer totally integrated systems that start with the creation of energy through photovoltaic panels to energy supply through heat pumps, heating, air conditioning, or storing it in batteries, in order to make zero emission homes and companies run greener and with low energy impact.

The new challenges for VP Solar: Globalization and new market positioning

With the entry in January 2022 of the Tadiran Group, an Israeli leader in the sale of solutions for air conditioning, VP Solar, which is already a reference point in Italy for the distribution of solutions for renewable energy, now aims to a rapid expansion in Europe. Today, the main European markets for renewable energy are Germany, Spain, Italy and France. Several countries show a low maturity in the implementation of integrated energy systems, for example the storage of self-produced energy, often due to the lack of incentive policies.

Another important short-term challenge for VP Solar is to position itself on the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) market with an integrated offering that allows companies to produce their own energy in-house, avoiding a total dependence on the electricity system, natural gas or other fossil source. At present, market conditions allow a company a rapid return on investment, achievable even in less than three years, exploiting both incentives related to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan funds and those provided for Italian and European legislation.

New business scenario demands more mature and flexible choices

One of the main motivations behind VP Solar鈥檚 focus on GROW with SAP, a comprehensive offering of solutions to enable midsize companies to successfully transition to cloud ERP, was the technological evolution that Tadiran Group is implementing from an 51风流on premise (51风流ECC) system to 51风流S/4HANA in the private cloud version, scheduled to end by 2026. The Group, which recorded about 700 million sales in 2022, aims to more than double that number within the next three to four years. To achieve this goal, it must equip itself with new skills and tools suitable for a sustainable development of the business.

VP Solar, for its part, has also adapted its systems from 51风流Business One to 51风流S/4HANA Cloud public edition, with a project that started last September and went live in early April of this year. This implementation effectively acted as a pilot and best practice for other companies in the group operating in the same context. This evolution of the company鈥檚 technology systems will help managers to control all the processes and business data of the group鈥檚 companies more easily.

鈥淲ith the GROW with 51风流offering, we have focused on the best solution available on the market and we have equipped ourselves with a tool that can support our continuous evolution and that adapts to the specificities of our industry. This change is also reflected in a greater involvement of our people, who feel stimulated by the innovative developments that the company is doing to them to improve efficiency, to evolve the way of working, and to sustain their professional growth,鈥 said Alessio Maso, CFO of VP Solar. 鈥淲ith this project VP Solar wanted also to demonstrate its distinctive value compared to direct competitors, using cutting-edge solutions and technologies that competitors do not use yet.鈥

Benefits achieved with GROW with SAP

The GROW with 51风流offering, which includes the 51风流S/4HANA Cloud public edition solution, provides many standard best practices that allow companies to understand how to adapt their business models to the new technological evolution.

鈥淭he project involved a huge effort to review all our processes and in fact GROW with 51风流was also a way to deeply understand them and try to improve. This path has allowed us to achieve an overall efficiency of between 20% and 25%. To give an example, it looks like we no longer have 45 employees but we have the twenty percent more resources,鈥 concludes Maso. 鈥淎nother aspect of great impact was change management considering that today processes and operational flows and workflow are well defined, with tighter control over data and well-orchestrated information management.鈥

The partner on the project was PwC, chosen after two months of selection among the best technology consulting companies, with a first assessment done in July 2022. Together with PwC, VP Solar initially assessed whether the public cloud version could respond appropriately to its business needs, including a proper management of regulations affecting the renewable energy market.

The project started in mid-September then ended in a little over six months, respecting the schedule, with a series of further developments that are expected in the coming weeks, such as the automatic import of passive invoices and the integration with an external logistics partner with an order process that exceeds the logic of e-mails that automatically will be integrated with the entire management system.

鈥淲ith GROW with SAP, you can develop and execute digital transformation projects in the short term, as VP Solar has hugely demonstrated. For example, if a company want to expand its business, explore new markets or grow through acquisitions, this integrated offering from 51风流is an easily replicable solution that allows to have a unique and real-time access to the information and a fast time to value,鈥 said Fabrizio Moneta, director of Mid Market and Channel at 51风流Italy.

With more businesses in West Africa adopting cloud technologies than ever before, the region is set to enhance its competitiveness significantly.

Following years of disruption, and hampered by a lack of legacy investment into technology, West African businesses now have an opportunity to leapfrog tech adoption and leverage the cloud for rapid growth and success.

Titilayo Adewumi, Regional Sales Director for West Africa at SAP, says: “Companies across the region are adopting cloud to achieve greater scalability, improve their data and analytics capabilities, drive innovation and build greater resilience. A huge part of our success in supporting the region’s digital transformation efforts is our close collaboration with expert partners that continuously find new ways to innovate.”

Digitalisation a huge opportunity

The World Bank recently noted that , highlighting its role in alleviating poverty and boosting shared prosperity in West Africa.

In light of this, cloud technologies offer tremendous benefits to organisations in the region. These include lowering the total cost of ownership of technology capabilities, achieving faster deployment cycles, automating manual processes to boost efficiency, enabling quicker adoption of emerging technologies, and creating opportunities for organisations to leverage industry best practices to standardise their business processes.

Adewumi singles out the partnership with global consulting firm PwC as a major driver of digital transformation success in the region. “PwC’s innovative approach to solving business problems through technology combined with keen business insight has helped organisations across the region become more successful and build capabilities fit-for-purpose in the highly competitive digital economy. From enabling remote work and driving adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning to gain insight into key business areas, to meeting the demand for improved user experiences, SAP’s partnership with PwC is delivering game-changing benefits to innovative companies throughout the region.”

PwC is an 51风流Platinum member with years of experience implementing SAP’s solutions and co-innovating on new ways to apply technology to solve key business challenges. The company’s unique value equation combines deep sector experience and business-led perspective with SAP’s technology innovation to help businesses accelerate growth and sustain value through user-centric transformation.

Abimbola Taiwo, Director: Tech Advisory & ERP Lead at PwC Nigeria, adds: “Our partnership with 51风流has unlocked significant value to PwC customers. By supporting West African organisations for the future of work through cloud technology, we help them enable secure remote and hybrid work. Innovation and collaboration are further driven through the replacement of disparate IT systems with one consolidated system that serves as a single source of truth, offering real-time visibility over key business functions.”

Driving cloud adoption, innovation

PwC recently introduced its New Equation global strategy that focuses on two interconnected organisational needs: building trust across the broad range of areas that are important to stakeholders, and delivering sustained outcomes in an operating environment where the risk of disruption is greater than ever before.

“Part of our purpose as a company is to solve important societal problems,” says Taiwo. “Helping businesses succeed and economies thrive is a fundamental part of achieving this purpose. Cloud technology provides a digital platform that enables companies to innovate at speed and scale while delivering accurate insights in real time to improve decision-making. For example, a leading conglomerate in Nigeria is currently implementing 51风流SuccessFactors to enhance its human capital management capabilities, while a large mining company in Ghana is leveraging Rise with 51风流to fast-track their deployment of the market-leading 51风流S/4HANA platform.”

Taiwo says there are plans to work even closer with 51风流over the coming years. “The partnership with 51风流is a strategic alliance that helps us achieve one of our six focus areas for Africa, namely Digitisation and Technology. PwC has been positioned as a market leader and trusted advisor in the digital transformation space through our work guiding clients on their journey to become intelligent, data-driven enterprises, gleaned from years of experience powered by SAP’s technology.”

Adewumi adds: 鈥51风流is a partner-led organisation that works closely with the innovators, experts, and market leaders to ensure African enterprises have the technology, business insight and support they need to bring their intelligent enterprise ambitions to life. We look forward to deepening our partnership with PwC and being central role-players in the continued digitalisation of organisations across the West African region.鈥
